Chapter 32: Chapter 32: It's suffocating
Ariel came back from the Red house later that evening. She didn't have Jay bring her back as Mr. Mac told his men to drop her off. She walked calmly towards the elevator. At some point, she paused. She turned around. A smirk marred her face.
"Come out. Don't waste my time", her voice came out with power though sensual.
The man in the shadows came out. When Ariel saw his face, she cringed. What the hell? What was this bastard doing here? She composed herself and kept her face expressionless. She didn't say a word. She stared him down.
Drake felt his spine turn cold under that chilly gaze. "Ariel", he called. He never thought that he would ever call her name again. He just didn't believe it. He stepped forward to reach out to her but the lady stepped back.
"Don't touch me". It was so curt and commanding. Drake was awed at how much she had changed. He really did miss her! How long has it been? He wouldn't have known of her existence had he not f*cked with Kiera the day before.
But, what was that look on her face? What was that? Disgust?
"I don't know what you're doing here but you're actually blocking my way".
" Can we talk for a while? Over dinner? "
Ariel scoffed. " Don't test my patience Mister. Move".
Just when Ariel thought that Drake would listen, he stepped forward with the speed of lightning and was going to grab her hand. But, someone else was faster. A crunching of bone was heard and a painful groan followed. When she raised her head, she saw the back of that familiar man.
"She says move. Don't you understand human language? Or are you an animal?"
His deep voice resonated throughout the parking lot making one's heart shudder but for Ariel, it melted her softly.
Rex flung Drake to the floor and turned to Ariel. He took in her look and in that fleeting seconds, she had looked her over. He took her hand and they went into the elevator.
Drake was left speechless on the floor. He was dumbstruck. Who was that man? And what was that aura?
In the elevator, Rex didn't let go of her hand. Ariel didn't try to remove her hand either. The man's aura was already brazenly cold.
"Who's he?"
"My...ex. But, he's unimportant".
" You were going to let him touch you?"
"I wasn't. I'm not so stupid".
Rex steadied his breath and turned to her. He dragged her close to himself and encircled her waist with his hand.
Ariel's eyes widened. What...what was this man doing?! They were in the elevator! What if... Her brain stopped functioning the moment she felt his lipyon hers. She tried to get away but he bit down on her lips. Ariel gasped thus giving him a leeway into her mouth. He ground her lips hard.
Ariel didn't know what to make of this. This kiss was different from the one they shared in the guest room. This one was aggressive! Was he angry? But she didn't do anything! This hooligan! She clenched his shoulders tightly forming creases on his overcoat. She tried to keep up with him but the man...
The elevator bell sounded but Rex didn't allow it to open. He pressed another floor number. He didn't let go of her either. After he was done, he released her lips but not her. He still held her in his arms. Ariel clung tightly to him. Her legs were still wobbly from that intense kiss and she felt her lips swollen.
Their foreheads were touching each other and Rex's voice came from above,
"Ariel"
"Hmm?"
"I can't bear the thought of you with another man. It's suffocating".
Ariel tightened her hold. " I'm not with any other man".
"I'm sorry if I hurt you earlier. My emotions got the best of me".
Ariel smiled. " It's fine. I kinda wanted it too".
Rex chuckled. He pressed their floor number and the elevator changed direction. He caressed her lips with his thumb and pecked her softly on her lips. He pulled her into a warm hug.
When the elevator reached their floor, Rex stepped out with Ariel in his arms. Her legs were still wobbly. When they reached her apartment, he inputted the password and the door clicked open.
"You have to tell me how you knew my password".
" Then, that's a payment for me to stay her tonight?"
