Chapter 18: Submerged
/BELLA POV/
It's been a week since Elijah left and I still think that he had a reason to go to Arizona I just don't know what it is yet.
Since the day I saw the wolves and Laurent, it seemed as if Jacob had been trying to stay away from me, even when I asked him if he wanted to hang out he just gave me a sorry excuse before hanging up the phone.
Speaking of the phone I have been trying to call or text Edward since the day he left but he never answered, when Elijah told me that the Cullens weren't coming back I might have believed him if I hadn't seen Edward when Laurent was trying to kill me.
I mean if Edward didn't care and wasn't going to come back he wouldn't have warned me about what to do all I need to do is make Edward worry about me enough for him to come back.
When I was in my thoughts I heard Charlie knocking on my door,
"Bella" He called out
"Yes," I answered wondering what was wrong.
"I'm gonna be late tonight so don't stay up waiting," he told me which made me wonder if whatever he was staying late for had anything to do with vampires.
"What for" I asked trying not to sound too excited
"Just paperwork," he said which made my mood drop really quickly.
"Alright," I told him before he left the house, when I was alone I went back upstairs to my room but when I looked outside through the window I swear I saw somebody.
"Bella" I heard someone behind me call my name, when I turned around and saw who it was I realized it was Edward.
"Edward," I said before trying to hug him which didn't happen as I just passed through him.
"Just forget about me Bella, let me go," Edward said to me which made me look at him in confusion, why would I forget about him were meant to be, I told myself.
"Just when I was about to say something my phone began to ring when I looked to see who it was I saw that it was just Jessica when I was going to ignore the call to continue speaking to 'Edward' but when I looked back at him I realized that he wasn't there anymore.
"Sigh~"
When I realized that he wasn't there anymore I turned back to my phone and answered Jessica's call.
"Hello," I said as soon as I answered the phone
"Hey Bella, do you want to hang out with Angela and me" she asked, and just when I was going to deny her I felt as though I should agree for some odd reason.
"Sure, where are we going" I asked her
"La push" she replied and just when I was about to hang up, Jessica asked me an odd question.
"Is your brother there with you?" she asked in an anxious voice
"No, he went on a trip, Why do you like him?" I asked in an amused tone
"No, I just feel like something bad is going to happen soon" she replies in a matter-of-fact kind of tone.
"What are you psychic" I asked in a playful tone trying not to laugh.
"Haha, maybe who knows," she says before changing the subject
"Anyway me and Angela will pick you up in about 30 minutes," She says before hanging up.
When I realized that I didn't have enough time I hurriedly got in the shower and when I was done I heard the sound of a car's horn honking.
When I heard the noise I quickly began to finish getting ready before going outside.
"Finally," Angela said when she saw me coming out.
"Sorry, I just got out of the shower" I explained to them before getting into the back seat.
When we arrived at La Push I saw more people then I expected,
"What is this," I asked Jessica who explained
"Come on it's going to be our senior year this is a way for us all to celebrate," she said before pulling me out of the car.
For the next hour or so I was basically forced to interact with a bunch of people I didn't know before out of the corner of my eye I saw Edward becking me over, When I saw him I began to walk over to him but before I could say anything he began to walk up the cliff.
"Where are you leading me," I asked him but he still didn't answer, just when I was going to ask again I heard the noise of laughing and screaming.
When I followed the noises I saw some of Jacob's friends jumping off of the top of the cliff and into the water, When they saw me they all stopped laughing and turned towards me.
"Oh, well if it ain't Jacob's friend," the shorter one of them said
"Um, who are you" not knowing the boy's name
"Seth Clearwater," he told me before helping one of the other boys push another off the cliff.
"Um, what are you doing" I asked because I could tell that the drop was very steep.
"Cliff jumping," he said to me when he turned to look at me.
Just when I was going to continue asking questions he asked one first,
"So, are you still hanging out with the Cullens" he asked in a hateful tone, when I was going to say yes even though I hadn't seen them I saw Edward shake his head no.
"No, they moved why?" I asked in a curious voice
"Just because, there not good people," he says which makes the other boys nod.
When I was going to ask what he meant I saw how he and the others began to grab their things and seemed to be getting ready to leave.
"Where are you going" I asked
"Going home," one of the other boys said before Seth could.
"Ah alright," I said before they started to leave.
When I was going to leave I looked over the cliff one more time and for some reason, I felt like I wanted to jump.
When I thought that I saw how 'Edward' showed shock and then fear for a second before trying to persuade me.
"Bella No," He said, speaking for the first time since I got here, which made me believe that If I jumped he would come looking for me.
Trying to prepare myself for the jump I kept looking down and getting more scared, just when I was about to back up and decide not to jump I felt a pat of the rock chip off and I began to fall forward.
"Bella!" I heard 'Edward' yell as I began to fall quicker into the water.
Maybe this is what was meant to happen, SInce I can't be with Edward maybe death was better.
When I hit the water I felt the coldness of it send a shock through my body but I wasn't scared,
when I was completely submerged in the water I opened my eyes and saw that 'Edward' was here with me.
"Bella" he yelled at me but before anything else could happen I began to feel my eyes getting heavier before all of a sudden I couldn't see anything else.
