Chapter 18: White Light

Seeing the stunned faces looking at him without knowing what to say, Bai Shen smiled.

"Are you surprised? I'm sure you're surprised. Please be surprised." Everyone felt an urge to punch Bai Shen's face, including Li Meixue and Lin Ruoxi.

Seeing his smug expression looking condescendingly at them, they couldn't take it anymore and suddenly looked uninterested.

"Huh? What's wrong with you guys? Why aren't you happy about the good news?" Bai Shen asked, confused.

"..."

Seeing that everyone was ignoring him, Bai Shen stopped his mischievousness and cleared his throat before continuing, "Listen, I'm going to use this token here. I'm abandoning the initial plan of moving to Guangzhou."

After giving it some thought, Bai Shen decided to avoid traveling right now. Before the Apocalypse, it seemed like a good plan. But now, he realized how foolish he was for proposing to move more than 1300 kilometers.

"Are you sure about this, Bai Shen?" Lin Ruoxi cautiously asked. She knew how determined Bai Shen was about going to Guangzhou.

He seemed to have made all the necessary preparations to survive there for a long while. Not to mention that the region was extremely well hidden and also had natural resources available for them.

"No. Invite them." After Bai Shen said that, he watched the others' surprised expressions when they received a notification from the System asking if they wanted to accept the invitation to join White Light.

A bit cringed at the name, they didn't have a choice and accepted.

After sorting out the invitations, Bai Shen saw that the Members section changed from 1/100 to 8/100.

"Please go and do other things. I want to see what other things are hidden in this Territory. If there's something exciting, I'll call you."

After saying that, Bai Shen watched as the people left one by one, until he remained completely alone.

'Let's see...' Playing a bit with the System, Bai Shen began to understand how the Territory functioned.

'By accessing Blueprints, I have the option of choosing from some buildings that the System can build for me by using Create.'

And he also observed the single thing they had in common, coins.

Every one had a price. In this case, once someone obtained a territory token, he or she would also receive an additional reward from zombies and other creatures—coins.

Usually, depending on the level or grade of danger, a level 1 zombie could drop one or two coins, while a level 10 zombie could even drop 100 coins, a huge difference.

Checking the Territory's Treasury, Bai Shen smiled wryly, seeing a big, fat zero.

He also discovered that he could level up his Territory by doing Quests. This would give the Territory a boost in size, not only territorially, but also in terms of members.

Quest 2: Kill 20 Zombies. (0/20) Reward: 200 Experience and 200 Coins.

Quest 3: Kill 10 Mutant Beasts. (0/10) Reward: 500 Experience and 500 Coins.

Quest 4: Kill 10 Mutated Animals.

Reward: 1500 Experience and 3000 Coins.

Quest 5: Conquer 1 Enemy Territory (0/1) Reward: 3000 Experience and 5000 coins.

...

There were a few more quests, some of them that would probably require Bai Shen to be above level 30, or even 50, since he didn't know how to compare which one was closer to the truth.

'It's good that the first five quests seem to be repeatable. We should focus on that and get many coins, since we'll need that building constructed as fast as possible.'

While scrolling through the Blueprints, Bai Shen happened upon two simple-looking buildings named: Class Change and Bloodline Selection.

Class Change: Gives the opportunity to change the Class based on the user's actions. (Minimum level 10, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000 required)

Bloodline Selection: Gives the opportunity to change or awaken the user's Bloodline to another one. (Previous Bloodlines will stack, low chance of fusing Bloodlines)

These two caught the attention of Bai Shen. 'They're probably the core of a Territory. I'm sure everyone would need to have something like this if they want to properly strengthen their members.'

Letting out a sigh because of the prices of 1000 coins needed for both buildings, Bai Shen also saw another interesting one.

Free Market: Everything one could wish for, depending on their pocket.

'5000 Coins... That's a bit exaggerated, isn't it...?' Shaking his head, Bai Shen sighed, thinking that it was time to take a break. It was quite late already, and they would all need to rest for tomorrow's hunt. The coins could wait for now.
