Chapter 53: Chapter 53: The Music of Rain
"It hasn't rained in a long while," Yuuri mused, gazing outside with a touch of emotion. Chito, sitting beside her, perused a book and remarked casually. Senju sat in the car, gazing blankly at the quilt.
Raindrops hit the building, making bursts of sound.
After a while, the rain outside became very heavy, and there were dense sounds all around.
"It's so loud." Yuuri tried to stir up the topic again, but the two people next to her ignored her.
Feeling a little bored, she looked around and found an iron rod and knocked it everywhere, and stood up.
"Oh, the sound is good," Yuuri knocked on the surrounding wall, and a clanging sound came from above, which shocked the two people next to her.
After seeing that it was Yuuri, Senju ignored her, but ran to the side of the car and looked carefully.
"The banging is so noisy," Chito raised her head and felt a little unhappy, but Yuuri was still banging, "It's so loud, why?"
Chito knocked on the wall with her hand, "It's probably hollow in the middle. It will make a loud noise when knocked. Just like Yuuri's head, the hollow structure will make a loud noise."
"I see," Yuuri acknowledged before tapping Chito's helmet with an iron rod.
A resonant echo emanated from it, prompting a smile to creep across Yuuri's face. "The sound is quite satisfying, isn't it? It's like it's hollow."
"Ouch! That hurts!" Chito yelped, snatching the iron rod from Yuuri's hand and playfully thumping her on the head. "At least I'm smarter than you. If you've got the time, you could help patch up those leaky spots for me."
"Yes, I'll do it right away." Yuuri found a few iron cans and put them in the place where the rain was leaking. As the rain fell, there was a ticking sound inside.
Yuuri found it very interesting and put one of the helmets in a leaky place.
Another noise came from above. After she ran to Senju to borrow the helmet, she ran to Chito to take off her helmet.
"Lend me your helmet."
"That's no problem, but what are you going to do?" Chito was a little confused, and then she saw Yuuri put the helmet on a leaky spot, and there was a rhythmic ticking sound coming from it, as if it formed a simple piece of music.
"Ah, the sound is good," Chito felt that the rhythmic sound of water drops was very pleasant, so she sat there and listened slowly.
"Right?" Yuuri was also very happy that Chito discovered her masterpiece, "How about putting more in there, there are still a lot of leaks."
Agreeing, Chito positioned the fuel lamp in one of the leaky spots, resulting in a crisp 'dong' sound echoing from above.
"And this." this time it was an empty jar, with a melodious 'dang' sound.
"Look, there are so many empty cans," Yuuri found a few more iron cans from the side and placed them one by one in the leaky area.
"Hmm, how about this?" Senju came over and placed a few upside-down iron buckets in the leaking area, making a loud 'dong' sound.
The sound around them was like a piece of music. The three of them looked at the iron cans and buckets everywhere, "It's like a flood of sound."
"Maybe, this is what is called music." Chito sighed.
"Music?" Yuuri didn't understand.
"The so-called music seems to be something in which different high and low tones and rhythms are matched and then connected." Chito drew five lines in his diary, with several dots of different heights marked on them.
"Yes, music, I haven't heard such a pleasant sound for a long time," Senju also sighed at the side, and then slowly listened to the music of nature.
After an unknown amount of time, the surrounding sounds slowly stopped, as if the music had finally finished singing, and the surroundings became silent, making them feel lonely for a while.
"Hey, Chii-chan, is the world we usually live in so quiet?"
"Ah, yes, it's really quiet. Let's take a rest for a while."
The three of them rested for a while and then got on the road. However, while driving, Chito whispered, "Ah, the sound is a little strange."
"What's wrong, Chii-chan?" Yuuri was a little confused.
"It's nothing. It's probably because I was listening to music just now. I feel like the noise of the car is a little unusual today."
"Is that so? Isn't this still a normal sound, woo woo woo."
"That's right, let's go," Chito continued to start the car and move forward. Senju looked at the scratches that reappeared next to him and didn't know what to say.
In this steel forest, after driving for an unknown amount of time, the sky gradually darkened. The three of them stopped the car, and then Senju built a simple cabin.
After seeing that the house was built, the three of them went in. There were several rows of wooden boards inside, which served as stools and beds.
After sitting down, Senju took out the food and distributed it to everyone. Then he asked Qianhu hesitantly, "Chii-chan, is there nothing wrong with the car?"
"No problem, it's the same as usual," Chito said nonchalantly while eating dry food.
Then she was a little confused, "Is there something wrong with the car?"
"Haha, it's nothing, I'm just worried about the rain today," Senju laughed dryly.
"That's no problem. The rain didn't touch the car at all, so there's no need to worry."
"This is what I'm worried about," Senju said in his heart, but looking at his own experience, he decided to wait for a while.
Anyway, it should be fine in the next few days.
After eating the food, the three of them lay there and began to sleep. Although Senju was a little worried, he quickly fell asleep.
The next day, it was a sunny day outside, and some buildings could be seen in the distance. After the three of them had breakfast, they decided to continue on the road.
After Senju put away his things, he sat behind the car.
As the car moved, he felt relieved that the car could still be used.
However, after a while, an unusual noise emanated from the car, followed by a sudden jolt and a complete halt.
"Ah, why did you stop, Chii-chan?" Yuuri queried, her expression reflecting puzzlement, while Senju, feigning death, lay motionless in the background.
"The car has broken down," Chito stated, her disbelief palpable. Muttering to herself, she reassured, "It's alright, it's alright. It can be fixed."
Then she noticed Senju fidgeting with closed eyes. "Senju, do you have any idea what's happening?"
"Ah, I don't know anything," Senju quickly jumped up to explain, but the two people next to him could see his nervousness.
"Really?"
"Okay, I probably guessed something. Yesterday's rain attacked the protective shield and destroyed the place I repaired. Now the car's parts have returned to their original condition..."
(T/L: Ehh I forgot what enchantments Senju used but, from my knowledge. Then wouldn't 'Protection' be bad in this? Apperantly it used up the cars 'durability' since it counted the rain as an 'attack'(?) So that's why it broke down?)
