Chapter 10: Going Out With Bronya

Tired from the day's events, I was eager to get some rest and call it a day. As I reached for the doorknob and opened the door to my dorm, I was met with an unexpected sight: Bronya, charging her cannon and aiming it directly at the door.

"What's going on, Bronya?" I asked, bewildered and alarmed.

Without a word, Bronya issued a command to her Bunny19C, "Fire."

The missiles were launched, and I reacted quickly, sprinting out of the dorm to avoid being caught in the explosion. I watched in disbelief as the projectiles whizzed past me and exploded harmlessly.

"What the hell, Bronya!" I shouted as I regained my composure.

She turned her gaze away, her expression inscrutable. "Shin... You're late."

"Late?" I exclaimed, incredulous. "I was at the headmaster's office. How could I have been on time?"

Bronya didn't respond, her features remaining stoic. Then, she shifted her attention back to me with an odd smile.

"So, what do you want, Bronya? Are we going somewhere?"

Her response was an affirmative nod, devoid of emotion.

"But I didn't even get a chance to rest," I protested, my frustration evident in my tone.

"Are you saying you won't?" Bronya inquired, her Bunny19C preparing for another missile launch.

"I will, I will!" I quickly reassured her, a bead of sweat forming on my brow. "Just give me a moment to get ready."

She nodded and floated out of the dorm, closing the door behind her. As I collected my thoughts and prepared for today with Bronya, I couldn't help but sigh in exasperation.

Scary...

A few minutes later, I emerged from my dorm, my face displaying the fatigue I felt. I noticed Bronya immersed in her phone, likely playing a game. I walked closer to her and peeked at her screen.

"Oh... You're trying to perfect combo the level," I observed, recognizing the rhythm game she was playing. Then, my eyes widened. "Wait a second... How did you get that Yukina Minato!?"

"I paid for it," she responded casually.

"Paid?!" I exclaimed in surprise.

"Yes," she affirmed, seemingly unbothered by my reaction.

Bronya... Stop being a whale.

"Anyway, shall we go now?"

Bronya nodded, turning off her phone and putting it in her pocket before floating beside me as we headed to the stairs slowly descending.

I glanced over at her and couldn't help but sigh, "By the way, Bronya... This is just a favor, but can't you walk like a normal person does?"

Bronya's expression remained deadpan as she look at me, "But The Bronya is too lazy to walk right now."

"Eh... Seriously?"

"Mhm... I was still recovering from the shock of the fact that you deleted my saved file."

"Okay, look, I actually feel guilty, okay?"

Also please don't bring it up, My heart hurts just thinking about it.

As we reached the ground floor, Bronya turned to me, "Shin, wait here."

I nodded in acknowledgment.

I knew she was going to fetch her motorcycle. I remembered seeing Bronya with the motorcycle before. It wasn't an ordinary one; it had a high-tech and advanced design.

As she headed towards the parking area, I couldn't help but imagine her motorcycle loaded with lasers and rockets as attachments. But I quickly dismissed the thought, thinking to myself, "Nah, that's not possible... She probably just loves bikes."

...But at the same time, it's also possible for her to put lasers and rockets. We're talking about Bronya here after all.

Bronya revved the engine and screeched to a halt beside me before turning to say, "Hop on."

"Y-yeah," I said, slowly climbing onto the back of the motorcycle.

She looked at me and asked, "Are you not gonna hold on to me?"

I hesitated for a moment but then sighed, feeling a hint of embarrassment as I gingerly placed my hands around her waist. "Fine..."

Bronya revved the motorcycle's engine, and before I could brace myself, she accelerated at full speed.

"Bronya! Wait! You're going full speed!"

"I know!" she responded, her voice filled with excitement.

"NOW YOU KNOW, CAN YOU PLEASE CALM DOWN?!"

"No, it's not fun."

I couldn't help but mutter a silent prayer, hoping that we'd make it to our destination in one piece.

God, I hope my soul will still be at peace.

We pulled up at a HOMU Fast Food Chain, and I expressed my surprise. "I didn't know about this place up until now."

Bronya replied confidently, "The Bronya knows everything about HOMU."

I chuckled, slightly amused. "Y-Yeah... As expected of the homu expert."

She parked the motorcycle on the side of the road, and I cautiously got off. The interior of the restaurant was filled with kids and teenage girls. Oh hey, look there's a HOMU mascot on the entrance door. How cute.

"It's famous among girls, huh?"

Bronya nodded, "Yeah."

I smiled and turned to Bronya deciding to be the gentleman for today, "Shall we go in, then?"

She nodded walking in first, and I followed her to the cashier. The cashier recognized Bronya and greeted us.

"Oh? It's Bronya! And who is this?" she asked, looking at me.

Bronya looked at me and introduced me to her, "Shin Watanabe, my squad mate."

The cashier seemed quite friendly. "Oh? Squadmate huh~ I was expecting to be your boyfriend." She smirked.

"Jokes are meant to be funny." Bronya looks at her with a deadpan expression yet there's a sign of a flush on her cheeks.

I greeted her with a nod.

"He looks like my type, Bronya," the cashier remarked holding her cheeks.

Bronya, in her typical deadpan style, looked at her, "Shin is not good at interacting with women. There is a 55.5% chance that Shin is into males."

I blurted out in shock, "Excuse me!?"

The cashier laughed it off, saying, "Hahahaha~ Alright, alright, the usual, right?"

Bronya nodded in, but I quickly chimed in, "Use this card." I handed the cashier my card from my wallet.

The cashier nodded and swiped the card. When she gave us the total, I looked at her with wide eyes. "That'll be ¥30,200."

I turned to Bronya, with a pale look. "B-Bronya... What did you do?"

She simply replied to me as if it was not her problem (although it was my fault), "Hm? Since you'll be treating me, why not go all out?"

I sighed, realizing my savings had just taken a hit. "Fine, I'll just get fries."

Bronya, with her usual practicality, warned, "Shin, it's unhealthy to eat less food. You should get more than just fries."

Says the one who spent half of my savings on my card.

"I'm not that hungry anyway. I'll just get the fries," I said, trying to reassure myself.

The cashier handed me my card back, and I put it in my wallet. "Please wait as we call your number," she said, handing us a card with the number 34 on it.

Bronya and I found an available table and took our seats. We waited patiently for our order, with me feeling a bit relieved that we hadn't spent any more money.

As our order arrived, the cashier brought over a human-sized HOMU doll along with our food. My eyes widened as I stared at the doll.

"... So that's why," I muttered under my breath, realizing where a significant portion of my savings had gone.

As we settled in with our food, a sudden commotion disrupted the peace as four masked individuals wearing hoodies burst into the fast-food restaurant.

They started firing their handguns into the ceiling, creating a chaotic scene.

"Hands up, all of you! Hands up!" the leader of the group demanded pointing the gun at everyone.

Bronya and I glanced at each other, silently nodding.

"Everyone, empty your pockets and hand over everything now!"

"Put it all in this bag!"

The leader, growing impatient, noticed that Bronya and I were still sitting and eating. He approached us and threatened, "You two, give me everything, or I'll put a hole through both of you."

Bronya remained unfazed, continuing to eat her food while hugging the human-sized HOMU doll. I, too, didn't flinch or react.

The man, angered by our nonchalant response, pointed his gun at the HOMU doll and fired, leaving bullet holes in its head. "This will be your example. Now give me everything."

Now you've done it... You're now fucked.

Bronya's eyes went blank as she stood up and handed the HOMU doll to me. "Shin, hold this for me."

I took it from her and nodded as she gave me a solemn look. "Yeah... Don't overdo it," I cautioned as I ate my fries.

"I'll try," she responded turning to the man.

The man taunted her, asking, "Oh? What are you going to do, little girl?"

In a swift and unexpected move, Bronya immediately punched the man in the stomach, followed by a knee to his face. The man was knocked down, dropping his handgun.

Wow... That was a chain combo just now. Reminds me of Tekken 8.

"Shit! Who is she?"

"I don't know but she's just a little kid! Apprehend her!"

Bronya picked up the handgun on the ground and pointed it at the other three men's firearms. She took a moment to aim and then fired at their gun barrels, causing them to explode.

"Damn it! My hands! It hurts!" one of the assailants cried out in pain as they held their injured hands.

Conveniently, I had just finished my fries. I got up and walked over to Bronya, taking the initiative to disarm her. "Are you finished? Alright, finish your meal, and I'll handle the rest."

Bronya turned to me, her expression softening as she looked at the damaged HOMU doll.

"Don't worry, I'll buy you another one right now."

"Really?" she asked, surprised.

I nodded.

A smile appeared on Bronya's face as she walked back to our table and resumed eating. Meanwhile, I turned my attention to the three subdued men, rendering them unconscious. "Let the police handle the rest," I said with a smile.

To my surprise, a crowd of onlookers, mostly families and young girls, had gathered and were recording the scene. I supposed it was just the way society worked these days. I let out a sigh and approached the cashier. "Hey, can I get another HOMU human-sized doll?"

"Y-Yeah... Of course," the cashier stammered, clearly still in shock.

"Oh, and don't forget to call the cops," I reminded them.

"T-The manager is calling them right now."

"Really? Thanks!" I replied.

As the cashier handed me the replacement HOMU doll, she added, "It's on the house now since you saved us."

I took the doll and turned away, making my way back to our table. "It was that emotionless girl that did it... I didn't do anything," I clarified to the still-bowing cashier.

"Hehe, T-Thank you," she stuttered gratefully.

I returned to the table and handed Bronya the human-sized HOMU doll. "Here."

"You actually bought it," she said, seemingly touched.

"No, this one is actually on the house."

"R-Really?"

"Yeah."

"I see," she replied, her smile brightening.

"Are you done with your meal?"

She nodded, taking the HOMU doll and hugging it tightly. "Shall we go now?"

"Yeah," I said, smiling as we headed out of the fast-food chain, and then got on the motorcycle. As usual, Bronya accelerated, and we sped back to our dorm.

I'm seriously gonna die at this point.

Upon returning, I turned on the television for the news. A report about the chaotic event at the HOMU fast-food chain came on, and there we were, captured on the screen.

Bronya was hugging her HOMU doll, as she was sleeping on her bed, while I watched the news unfold.

We're not gonna get expelled for this right?

Feeling tired after the day's events, I turned off the television and headed to my bed. I lay down and decided to call it a day, ready for some well-deserved rest.

As I was about to close my eyes and drift off to sleep, I heard Bronya softly mumbling my name.

"Thank you... Shin," she whispered.

I smiled and replied, "You're welcome, Bronya." With those words, I finally closed my eyes.
