Chapter 34: Blood Suckers 2

"These Blood Suckers are all Bronze tier with enhanced speed and agility. Their small size and ability to blend into shadows make them tricky opponents," Ye Fan muttered, analyzing the information quickly. "Focus on precision attacks and watch out for their offensive capabilities."

"Ye Fan, deploy those wooden guards of yours to cover our flanks," Su Mu shouted, her eyes focused on the approaching threat. Ye Fan nodded, immediately commanding his Titan Wood Sprouts to reposition and reinforce the team's defenses.

The Blood Suckers, undeterred by the flames, adapted their strategy. They began to spread out, utilizing their agility to navigate around the fiery barrier. The team found themselves in a tense situation.

As the skirmish unfolded, an unexpected change occurred on the battlefield—the temperature around plummeted drastically, except the areas bathed by the flames of Su Mu. Slowly, frost crystals began to condense on the surrounding objects, affecting the Blood Suckers. The chilling effect of the frostbite caused their once rapid movements to slow.

"It's Brother Li," Ye Fan exclaimed, turning his gaze toward Li Chen, who now stood at the center of the team. Cold currents emanated from his body in continuous waves, influencing the very atmosphere around him. However, these icy currents seemed to possess a consciousness of their own, selectively targeting the Blood Suckers while leaving the team members unaffected.

Seizing the opportune moment, both Groot 1 and Groot 2, who were stationed to defend the rear, extended their roots toward the slowed Blood Suckers. With precision and speed, the roots entwined around three blood suckers near them, which were already hindered by the chilling air. As the roots secured their grip, more and more tendrils emerged from the ground, constricting and tightening around the captured Blood Suckers.

Ye Fan, deeply impressed by the strategic prowess displayed by his Titan Wood Sprouts, recognized a significant advantage he possessed over other spiritual planters. The distinctiveness lay in his ability to instill self-consciousness in his spiritual plants, a feat unparalleled in his current realm of cultivation. Except for those with strong cultivation levels above gold tier, most spiritual planters have to control their own spiritual plants in the battle, however Groot's can think for themself, unlike other spiritual plants at their current tier. This unique talent, likely stemming from the peculiar qualities of his mutated spiritual power and vitality.

Ye Fan's connection with his creations went beyond the norm. Unlike his counterparts, Ye Fan's capabilities extended far beyond. His mutated vitality held special characteristics that allowed him to harness it in multifaceted ways. Not only could he enhance his own body, but the most pivotal attribute of his vitality lay in its capacity to elevate the levels of others. This encompassed all living creatures, marking a remarkable departure from the conventional applications of vitality among awakeners.

Furthermore, his spiritual power exhibited unique traits. It had the extraordinary ability to expand the spiritual consciousness of other beings, facilitating early awakenings of Spiritual consciousness. The influence of Ye Fan's spiritual power wasn't limited to mere enhancement; it was a transformative force that could awaken latent potential in both plants and living beings. This allowed him to establish a deeper connection with the entities he infused with his spiritual power, enabling higher level of communication and coordination that went beyond the norm. Even allowing him to learn skills faster or more like improve skill proficiency. In essence, his talents weren't confined to the realm of traditional spiritual planters or general awakeners.

As the frosty air continued to take its toll on the Blood Suckers, Ye Fan seized the moment to reinforce the defense. "Groot 1 and 2, excellent work! Keep them restrained," he commanded his words resonating with the consciousness of his Titan Wood Sprouts. The Groot's tightened their grip on the caught Blood Suckers, preventing any chance of escape.

Although they caught 3, two more Blood Suckers still roamed freely in the air, their translucent wings fluttering menacingly. However, a sudden black shadow darted past one of the flying Blood Suckers. Before anyone could fully comprehend what had happened, the shadow attacked the second Blood Sucker, severing one of its wings. The injured creature spiraled down, unable to maintain flight.

Amid the collective surprise and confusion, Lin Xiaoqiao emerged from the shadows holding a dagger, she used the ability of the shadow clock to hide her presence waiting for the right moment to attack the bloodsuckers, and her incredible speed is thanks to her talent, allowing her to harness spiritual power for bursts of rapid movement.

Lin Xiaoqiao, her silhouette still melding with the shadows, grinned at the successful strike. "Works like a charm every time. Let's finish off these pests," she suggested, her voice carrying a confident tone.

The vines from Groot 1 and 2 extended rapidly, ensnaring the last two Blood Suckers attempting to flee. With the creatures immobilized, the team swiftly dealt with them, ensuring no remnants of the threat lingered.

Su Mu efficiently collected the lifeless bodies using her SkyDrive, the team undeterred by the encounter, pressed forward toward the specified destination. Their primary objective involved burying a small device at a designated location—This device, when strategically placed, would coordinate with others to create a protective barrier with sonic waves, deterring Blood Suckers from encroaching on the base.

The team continued their journey, navigating through the dense foliage toward the designated spot. The ominous stillness was broken only by the occasional rustle of leaves, creating an unsettling backdrop to their mission. Brother Lin led the way with a determined stride, his experience evident in the cautious glances he cast at their surroundings.

After navigating through the dense foliage, the team reached the specified location. He signaled for a halt, and the members gathered around as he briefed them on the next steps. "Alright, everyone, this is the spot. We need to bury the device here," he explained, holding up the small box.

Lin Mo grumbled in frustration, as he opened the box with various parts, and an instruction manual on how to assemble the device. "Fu*k, this manual is a mess. They didn't mention we'd have to assemble it ourselves. We're supposed to be fighters, not engineers."

Looking at the frustrated Lin Mo, Su Mu asked softly "What happened, brother Lin?"

Lin Mo sighed, a hint of annoyance in his voice as he explained, "It takes more than an hour to assemble and charge this thing, Once activated, it'll synchronize with the other devices and create a barrier to keep the Blood Suckers at bay. But till then we need to secure this area."

"No problem, guys!" Ye Fan interjected, already dispersing the seeds of the bronze-tier Iron-spine Defender to different locations. "These seeds will grow into defensive plants, adding an extra layer of protection while Brother Lin works on the device. Su Mu, keep an eye on the perimeter. Let's make sure we finish this mission smoothly."

As he infused the seeds with vitality, the transformation was swift and dynamic. The seeds sprouted, giving birth to massive vines that extended rapidly, entwining everything in their path. The growth was astonishing, creating a thick defense line that climbed trees and enveloped stones, creating a formidable barrier. Under Ye Fan's meticulous guidance, the vines formed a solid blockade, with thick cables of vegetation spanning more than 5 to 6 meters around.

These plants boasted predatory characteristics by growing large flowers that can attract insects, their vines thicker than industrial cable wires and stronger than iron. Their leaves with metallic luster enclosing with others, resembling a metallic armor, reflected a subtle sheen under the dappled sunlight. The transformation was not merely aesthetic; the bronze-tier Iron-spine Defender has grown into a strong defensive entity. Ye Fan marveled at the seamless integration of offense and defense in the plant's upgraded form.

Growing the five seeds into fully-fledged bronze-tier Iron-spine Defenders required only 100 points of vitality. Generally, for him growing an ordinary plant to bronze tier typically demanded hundreds of vitality points. The efficiency of this process was a testament to the advantage of utilizing spiritual seeds that had already been infused by other spiritual planters. These pre-infused seeds, despite their higher cost, significantly reduced the vitality expenditure required for growth.

Ye Fan reflected on the disparity in resources between himself and other spiritual planters. The limitation of spiritual power and the slow recovery, even with the aid of recovery potions, made their cultivation a time-consuming endeavor. In contrast, Ye Fan's unique attributes granted him a distinct advantage, allowing him to employ vitality more efficiently and recover at a faster rate. Satisfied with the initial results, Ye Fan turned his attention to Su Mu. "Su Mu, get ready. Brother Lin, how's it going with the device?"

Lin Mo, fully focused on the task at hand, replied, "It's intricate, but I'm making progress. Just give me a bit more time."
