Chapter 35: Christmas Massacre

Chapter 32 – Christmas Massacre

Simon left the lawyer's office with a calm expression. Outside, Heloise was reading a fashion magazine while waiting for him. She insisted on coming with him; after all, Simon was only 12 years old, but she didn't interfere too much in Simon's inheritance matter.

Seeing him come out, she closed the magazine and approached with a greedy smile on her face.

"So, how rich is my little brother now?" She asked provocatively, making Simon roll his eyes.

Since reuniting with Heloise at Hogwarts, he had only seen her serious and prudent side, but since returning home, she seemed to revert to the little girl who used to run to his room and pull him out of bed at 6 in the morning. It was fun, annoying, but fun.

If it were before the visit, he could play around with her a bit, but now Simon was upset with Stephanos's daughter's audacity to come after his fortune. Did the idiot really believe that someone like him had so much money saved up? Well, if she bothered to see how he had lived the past years of his life, she would at least have been surprised that suddenly someone went from being a homeless person to an extremely wealthy man with valuable assets.

Heloise paused for a moment when she saw that Simon didn't seem to want to talk about it and just sighed before smiling a little and following Simon out of the building. It's not like she cared about the money Simon would receive; she wouldn't be greedy enough to covet her own brother's wealth.

She was just worried that, depending on the amount he received, he might change more than he already had. For someone like Heloise, who saw everyone in the orphanage as her family, all she feared was losing them, even more, losing Simon again.

On the way back, they both stopped at a diner to grab something to eat before heading home. Looking at the different cakes and sweets in front of her, Heloise started drooling unconsciously.

While she was absorbed in deciding what to order, Simon just sighed and said, "You can choose whatever you want and prepare some for the folks at home, on my tab."

"But-"

"No excuses, just choose. Besides, I need to use the restroom, I'll be back soon."

Seeing Simon leave, Heloise just waved before starting to order different types of pies and cakes, making a smile light up the cashier's face. Although she wasn't greedy for Simon's money, she knew how to seize life's opportunities.

In the restroom, Simon waited for a bit when suddenly an older boy entered. He then locked the door and turned to face Simon.

"Father," he said, looking at Simon with a brief smile on his face.

"Envy, how was the search for the snake in Albania?"

"Unfortunately... we found nothing. We searched the area for 3 months for anything, and not even traces were found," Envy said somewhat reluctantly. He felt he had failed his father.

Simon, however, just nodded. Not finding Nagini was within his expectations. He always felt that the story of the first film had many things out of line, and frankly, thinking too much about it gave him a headache.

As for Nagini, Simon raised three hypotheses for not finding her. The first and simplest was just the difficulty; the forests in Albania were not small, and Envy, even with Anne's help, might not be able to find her.

The second, Voldemort hid her in a safe place for security reasons in case he failed to obtain the Philosopher's Stone.

And finally, the will of the world. Simon didn't know if something like that existed, but anyway, he reincarnated into another world, so nothing is impossible.

"Hm, it doesn't matter, we'll have another opportunity in 3 years, but for now, I have a job for you and Anne," Simon took an address out of his pocket and handed it to Envy. "It's a wizarding family, Stargrove, or something like that. Kill all the members of that family, or better yet, leave some alive if possible."

Envy took the paper and after seeing the address, nodded slightly before pausing for a moment. "Anne probably won't like this," he said, looking at Simon.

"Is that a problem?" Simon asked, to which Envy just shook his head and left.

Simon then relieved himself and then left to pay the bill. Outside, he and Heloise carried several bags from the bakery as after passing through an alley, she waved her wand and apparated them home.

"I thought students were forbidden to use their wands outside of school," Simon said, a little surprised that Heloise was breaking a rule.

Heloise just smiled and replied, "Benefits of being one of the best students and being close to someone from the ministry; I've been using magic outside of school since I was 15, of course always avoiding using it in front of Muggles."

At home, Heloise went to leave the sweets they bought in the kitchen while Simon went to his room to rest for a bit. In the following days, he bought some presents for the people at the orphanage using the money he had in Gringotts and converting it into pounds sterling.

He didn't buy expensive things, but everything was of good quality, toys for the younger ones, and video games for the older ones; as for the girls, well, he just gave some money to Heloise, and she went shopping with them. On Christmas night, Simon looked happily at the people around the table and enjoyed a good meal with his current family.

Elsewhere in the UK, two people stood in front of an ordinary residence while snowflakes fell upon them. The first was a beautiful young woman with short brown hair and fair skin; her hands opened and closed while her sharp eyes seemed to be like those of a puma, sharp and alert, sniffing the air.

The other was a young man entering his adulthood, somewhat ordinary but well-dressed; he had trimmed beard and neatly combed hair, making him look like a gentleman, but the gleam in his eyes and the smile on his face contrasted strongly with it.

"I wonder if any of them will recognize this form," Envy said as he looked at the family gathered inside the house. Although there was a concealment spell in place that seemed to ward off Muggles, Envy was unaffected as he had magical power in his body.

As for Anne, she was just very sensitive thanks to her instincts, and she could easily ignore this spell as long as she concentrated.

"They have children," Anne said as she looked towards the house, her hands opening and closing in an expression of anxiety.

Envy just nodded and looked at her, asking, "Is that a problem?"

Anne hated Simon, hated that he had taken her ordinary life and turned her into his personal killing machine. Over the 3 months she roamed the Albanian forests, she killed several people alongside Envy, innocent or not.

More and more, she spiraled into a whirlwind of hatred and despair. Her only hope was that at the end of it all, Simon still fulfilled his part of the deal.

"Let's go, but be careful. These people are wizards. Don't expect it to be easy dealing with them," Envy then walked to the house with Anne and knocked on the door.

After a few moments, a man in his thirties opened the door and smiled at the two visitors. He seemed like a good person with a friendly smile on his face as he held a sleeping 4 or 5-year-old girl in his arms.

"Can I help you?" he asked the two visitors at his door with a cordial smile.

"Yes, sorry to bother you, sir, but I'd like to know if this is the Stargrove residence?"

"Yes, they're my wife's family. Is there any- "Before he could react, the young man in front of him crossed through his chest with his own hands, causing him to vomit a little blood on his daughter. His body began to weaken as small red rays shone in the man's eyes while his face twisted in ecstasy.

Taking his hands off the man's chest, Envy lost himself for a brief moment in his euphoria before a scream woke him up. Looking at the young girl in front of him screaming, he just snorted a bit before advancing towards her while pointing to the girl on the floor who had woken up and was crying, "Anne, do it."

Anne looked at the girl in front of her in a trance and after hearing Envy's words, she snapped out of it and using her claws, she slit the girl's throat before entering the house behind Envy.

The screams inside the house were heard for a few more minutes before silence fell upon the residence.

After half an hour, Envy and Anne left, leaving behind a scene that would haunt the wizarding world in the days to come.
