Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Linea

Linea was found on a planet called Vyus, a world in the industrial age. When they were told by the inhabitants that Seeker Team 4 (Seeker is what Harry calls his Stargate Exploration Teams in honor of his old Quidditch position) was, in fact, the second group to come through the Stargate, they were led to the first one. There, they found Linea, who was once again in the process of research—research without proper safety precautions that could result in a global disaster once again. Not that the Magus Empire cared; they are not an interstellar police force. As long as it didn't endanger their empire, they were only interested in knowledge.

Harry wasn't disappointed. After Linea refused to comply, the Seeker team forcefully restrained her and brought her with them. The inhabitants of Vyus didn't attempt to help her after they learned what kind of person she was and what her research had caused on other worlds.

Once she was brought in front of him, he dove into her mind himself. It was a treasure trove of new knowledge—information that wasn't part of the ancient repository of knowledge.

Linea's main focus was the research of plants and other biological substances. After the Alterans had cleansed, reseeded, and left the Milky Way Galaxy millions of years ago, a lot of new life evolved. Life was not known to the Ancients since the next time they returned to the Milky Way Galaxy, they were only here for a short time, focusing on their ascension. And even that was ten thousand years ago.

Her knowledge was full of worthy information that could spawn a complete new branch of organic-based technology. Plants that could generate, through a natural fusion reaction, super coolant compounds, healing properties, or—according to her most recent research—a youth treatment to restore her own youth

The youth treatment was also of interest to Harry. With his magus symbiote, he could reincarnate a few times, but there was a slow degeneration process in his soul that could lead to troubles later on. Basically, every time he entered a new host, transforming it into him, he lost half of his soul that was restored with the host's soul but no longer his original soul. With every reincarnation, he would lose a part of himself, and they didn't have enough research to say what consequences it would cause. His current guess was that, at some point, the soul would start rejecting any physical body.

A way to preserve his mortal vessel without side effects for as long as possible was highly sought. Basically, they were still looking for a form of immortality, so their magus reincarnation was just a last-ditch emergency method.

But her other research was also fascinating—a renewable energy generation method with much higher return than input, compounds that can improve the efficiency of their technology, and more.

"Linea, Linea… What should we do with you? Unethical, dangerous research without any safety precautions. Didn't you learn from your past mistakes? Do you think you yourself could survive the consequences every time?" Harry asked as he watched the elderly woman in front of him.

Linea just ignored his questions while glaring at him. "Who are you people? Why have you taken me?" she spat out.

"We are the Magus Empire, an interstellar empire dedicated to knowledge and power. And obviously, you have some fascinating knowledge, so we sought you out," Harry said, making his eyes glow blue as he replied.

"You got what you wanted. I could feel how you ripped through my mind. What are you planning to do with me?" She asked now, a bit fearful.

"Hmm, indeed, we got what we originally wanted. But letting a mind like yours leave would be a waste of resources. We offer you to become a magus," Harry said, making himself look as mighty as possible.

"What does this mean? Becoming a Magus?"

Harry summoned a servant who brought one of the Magus Symbiotes. "This is a magus symbiote. It will turn you into a magus."

"You are Goa'uld? No, please let me go." Linea now shouted, as she didn't want to lose her free will.

"Oh, you recognize the Goa'uld?" Harry asked. The report in the SGC didn't suggest anything about her knowing the Goa'uld; she didn't even know how the Stargate worked before meeting SG-1. Maybe she met them after escaping the SGC. "But you are mistaken; these symbiotes have no mind of their own. They are a creation of mine to turn other humanoids into members of the Magus race with the benefits of the Goa'uld without their disadvantages."

"You mean I will keep my own mind?" Linea is now curious. She had been looking for a way to extend her life. A symbiote would just accomplish this, and she could always look for a way to escape afterward.

"Yes, you would gain perfect health, enhanced intelligence, speed, and strength. And additionally, this symbiote possesses the genetic memory of the empire's knowledge in biology, botany, and chemistry, as well as basic education," Harry explained, exactly knowing what she was thinking. Diving deep into a mind would be noticed by victims with a powerful enough mind, but reading the surface thoughts? Harry was at this point experienced enough to do it without trouble.

"I would be honored to join the mighty Magus race!" Linea said while bowing her head, hiding the greed in her eyes.

"Good, receive my blessing," Harry said as he made the symbiote enter her body, fusing with her physiology. Of course, this was a normal symbiote; he had no interest in old hags or every noteworthy woman he came by to join his harem.

After all, the Magus were perfectly capable of regular reproduction; the children would be pretty powerful witches or wizards. And once they received their symbiote, they were probably more advanced than their parents.

To his fascination, even though Linea wasn't a wizard nor related to the Ancients—after all, he had scanned her genetics after she arrived here—she had the furthest adaptation to the Magus genetics so far. She barely reached high-class Magus status with her genetic adaptation at 70%.

Low-class Magi had a genetic adaptation of at least 25%; anything below that would be called an acolyte. Although they didn't have an acolyte yet, it was only a theoretical possibility if the host body was incompatible for some reason.

A mid-class Magus had a genetic adaptation level of at least 50%. The high-class Magus began at 70%; from 80% on, he classified them as the ultimate class, of which there are currently none. Ninety percent and above were royalty, which was only possible because the Royal Magus Symbiotes weren't as genetically restricted as the others, which gave more freedom for the transformation process, but the genetic control over them was also lesser.

How Linea accomplished such a high transformation would need to be researched; after all, a higher level was usually easier with ancient or wizard genetics, which Linea didn't have. She was a base human. His current guess was that it had to be related to her intelligence. Now under the control of her new genetics and much younger—a young blond woman in the peak of her youth—Linea bowed. "Thank you for blessing me, your majesty. What do you wish me to do now?""I want you to complete your youth research. But of course, you also received my basic education in the wizarding world. Before you continue on that, I want you to go to Terra and join the other Magus to study the fields of potions, herbology, and whatever else you deem useful. This knowledge can be very beneficial to accomplishing the task of eternal youth," Harry ordered.
