Chapter 16: Chaotic First Day at Academy (3)

In the aftermath of the brutal bus encounter, Adam sought solace in the silent corners of the academy, where his body mended, and his determination grew stronger. Unbeknownst to him, the challenges ahead would test not only his physical strength but also the resilience of his spirit.

After 20 minutes of rest, the bus finally came to a halt. A robotic voice echoed in the bus, announcing, [We have reached our destination.] Soon, everyone started to move, and at last, we humans began to exit.

Adam's eyes widened upon stepping out of the bus. Before him, the colossal war training facility stood—an immense cube crowned with a towering geodesic dome. The structure, blending modern functionality with ancient aesthetics, loomed in the distance, defying easy comprehension. The cube and dome merged seamlessly, creating an imposing presence that hinted at the formidable training within its walls. This unique architectural fusion left Adam awestruck, disoriented by its sheer magnificence.

With memory loss adding to his disorientation, Adam couldn't help but feel blank and awestruck by this unique architectural fusion.

"That's not just huge; it's gigantic," I exclaimed, feeling overwhelmed and confused. "How will I reach there in 10 minutes?"

In spite of my confusion, I walked toward the entrance. The doors were gigantic, and I followed the group of humans. Upon entering, a blue light passed through me, and my wristwatch emitted a green glow.

Once inside, the overwhelming feeling returned—it was like having stepped into another world within this dorm. Despite wanting to admire the surroundings, time did not permit it.

"Hey Ai! Where should I go now?"

[Your classroom is A7, located in the east block. To reach it, you can take a local vehicle or teleport. However, a local vehicle costs 15 credits, and teleportation costs 45 credits], replied Ai.

"Classroom and vehicle?" I asked, the words triggering a sense of familiarity in my memory. I believed by 'vehicle,' Ai meant those peculiar smaller buses, and classrooms might be the training grounds. Regardless, let's take the teleport since I have 200 credits and, after the bus incident, I prefer not to travel with other species for now.

Outside, there were numerous small cube buildings for teleporting, while spots for vehicles were mostly operated by humans. Some of them tried to call me, but ignoring their call, I entered a less crowded teleport center. The few humans present, which were nearly equal to no human other species, looked surprised, and some mocked me, but I paid them no mind. Rushing to an empty teleport spot, I scanned my wristwatch, revealing option four.

------------------

• North block

• West block

• East block

• South Block

• Central Block

--------------------

Without hesitation, I chose the East block, and a few more options appeared. Opting for [A region], I stepped onto the teleport circle. Within seconds, my vision blurred, and I found myself in a different building.

'Ha! No matter how many times I used teleportation, it didn't seem like I would ever get used to this.' I talked to myself.

Stepping down from the teleport circle, I surveyed the area. Only a handful of people were present, and they all seemed to be in a hurry. It appeared that many from Block A had already reached their classes.

I also rushed out of the building, and a grand cube-shaped structure came into view. "Haha! You can no longer overwhelm me," I declared with pride. "Ai, guide me to the A7 classroom using voice mode."

[Affirmative. Go straight, then turn…] guided Ai, and I followed its directions.

A century later (figuratively speaking),

Frustration began to bubble up within me. "Damn it! I am lost," I muttered with a dispirited face. "Where the hell will I find the A7 classroom in six minutes!"

"Adam!" A familiar voice echoed, and I turned around to see him, "Raven!" I said with shock, never expecting to meet him here.

"Hey! How are you?" he greeted.

"I am fine," I replied, momentarily taken aback. It was the first time someone had greeted me properly in this world.

"You don't look fine. Are you sure?" Raven questioned, breaking my train of thought.

"Ah! I am fine. What about you?" I asked in return.

"I am fine. Let's hurry; classes are about to start… Don't tell me you are lost again?" Raven inquired.

"Haha," I gave a dry laugh. "Why do you say that? I was going to my class."

"Well, Block A is for the elite, but looking at how skinny and weak you are..." he paused, leaving the statement hanging.

"Hey! I am part of the A7 classroom!" I retorted.

"Wow! Maybe you are stronger than you look!" remarked Raven.

'No, I am weak!' I thought internally.

"Sadly, my class is A6, but I can guide you to your class. Come on, let's go!" he said with excitement, clapping his hands.

'He looks like a child,' I observed, somewhat amused by his behavior.

"Why are you being so friendly with me?" I asked cautiously.

"Come on, fellow humans should help, I believe," he said with bright eyes but a sad face. His sadness didn't escape my notice, but what I pondered over more.

'Help others? Hmm, his reply reminded me of another human on the bus who ignored me. Should I tell him what happened on the bus? Will he ignore me like others? Let's not be left alone in this place; he's the only one who can help to reach my classroom and help another human. Haha!' I said to myself as his words brought my pain from the past to the surface.

"Let's go!" I said.

Looking into his bright, excited eyes, I thought, let's use him now. I'll ignore him later; that way, he will not get hurt.

"Haha, I knew you were lost, right? Follow me!" Raven exclaimed with childish behavior.

I smiled at his behavior; it kind of brought a warm smile. After all this, for the first time since my memory loss, I have seen such a lovely smile.
