Chapter 11: Leap of Faith
Chapter 11
As the shot rang out, Peter got in place in front of his Uncle Ben. He looked quite pale and was holding his chest. "Uncle Ben! Are you alright?!"
"Y-Yeah I haven't been shot." Peter visibly deflated at the fact that Ben wasn't hurt. But a second later he remembered that a shot had still gone out, so his first thought was those around him. He glanced around but no one seemed hurt. It was then he remembered that the shot had been fired BY someone and he could fire again.
Peter whipped his head around to see the man's hand holding the smoking gun straight in the air, and another man dressed in all black holding that hand in the air. Seemingly noticing Peter's gaze, the man began to move. In one smooth motion, he shifted the other man's hand from his right to his left, keeping his palm on the robber's arm, and delivered a strong elbow strike to the man's sternum.
With Peter's superhuman senses, he could hear nearly all the robber's ribs break at the blow, as he fell to the ground in pain. While he fell, the man in black grabbed his pistol out of his hand and unloaded it in a swift move. Dropping the magazine to the pavement and taking the round out of the chamber in a single flick. Pausing for a second afterward, the man glanced back at Peter with a meaningful look, then ran off into the night.

"I hope he gets the hint." Xavier said as he changed in a nearby alleyway. He had been following Peter for the past half-hour in anticipation of this event and felt much better having accomplished what he wanted to do. Without wasting any time, Xavier rushed off home in order to not get caught out late by Aunt May. After all, she was already worried about Peter.
"I'll never make it in time to beat Uncle Ben's car, even if they stay back to file a report…" Mid thought, Xavier looked off to his side. There, he saw a particularly large building. A manic grin spread across his face. "That could work."
Xavier walked up to the wall, looking to his right and left to make sure no one could see what he was about to do, before he stepped onto it. Bringing his other foot onto the wall, he was now standing sideways, perpendicular to the ground. He steadied himself before he began to walk up the building. But soon he began to pick up speed, his grin growing.
By the time he had gotten to the top of the large office building, he was nothing but a blur to the average eye. As if realizing he was going to blow past the roof, Xavier reached down and stuck to the ledge before he could fly past it. With his momentum, his body stretched out past the ledge, but his grip stayed firm.
After a solid second of being stretched out, Xavier's momentum ended. He landed on all fours on the ledge, still grinning like an idiot. Xavier stood up and looked back over the edge, seeing the drop ahead of him. It was about 300 feet, or about 90 meters. At that moment, he remembered the scene of Miles's leap of faith. "Well divorced Peter did say it's a leap of faith right?" He said, pulling out his back mask from earlier from the bag on his back and putting it on.
'No one should see me while I'm out… Mabey I should wrap my shadow around myself for extra measure.' He thought, moving some of his attention to his shadow. Over the past month of waiting for something to happen, Xavier had been training his ability more. While he didn't make any progress on level three, he found a new way of controlling the shadow.
When making his new skill, Shadow Avatar, he would expand his consciousness to his own shadow and fill it completely- making it 'inflate.' Essentially, he could now separate the substance that makes up the shadow, and make it into two of either forms. One had bigger portions that he called 'cells' which would stay in contact with his body. Or 'Smoke' which he could make float around him- like Peter's new ability.
Peter's ability is much like Xavier's- It does nothing other than minor effects. While Xavier can currently only use his ability or obscure him, or now he found he could see what his Avatar could when he looked at the system's description of the ability. Peter could do some minor effects such as how people perceive him, or lower his presence so people are less likely to notice him.
Xavier invoked the smoke form of his shadow, having it float around him. This made it so he almost melded into the darkness around him. 'No one should see me now, much less recognise me.' He said, pacing back and forth on the roof trying and failing to hype himself up. Back and forth. Back. Forth. Eventually, he got tired of pacing. 'I'm running out of time and I really need to get home soon… Sigh **** It.' He cursed under his breath, before walking back to the ledge.
Once his toes were at the edge, he slowly began to lean forward. Telling himself that he could save himself at any time. He was only so scared because he had lived the life of a normal person until now, with no knowledge of the Marvel world. So it was understandable if he was a little scared. After just a moment of listing at the edge of the building, he began to fall. And he began to scream.
"AAAAAAHHHHH!" Xavier panicked as he fell, nearly forgetting that he had natural webbing. Though, it was only for a split second as he shot out a web to the nearest building in the direction he was going. He smiled, happy that he had accomplished web swinging- That was until he smacked face-first into the very same building that had just been his savior.
"Haha, all right. Now I just need to pull myself up and keep swinging." Following his own advice, he jumped from building to building one at a time. Then he moved to two at a time, slowly going farther distances until he was comfortable swinging more freely. Soon enough, Xavier was swinging through the city of New York like the authentic Spider-Man.
"WOOOHOOO!" He was having so much fun swinging, that he lost concentration on his 'Shadow Veil.' Making it so he could be seen again. But whether he was seen or not, is left up to chance.

Xavier made it home just as Uncle Ben and Peter were parking the car below him. He swung into their apartment building ( Don't care if it was a house or an apartment, for the purposes of this, they live in a big but modest sized apartment now.) and crawled to his window. Peeking inside, he could see that Cindy had fallen asleep curled up in his blanket.
As silently as he could manage, he slid open his window and stepped into his room. Managing to not wake Cindy, as she did not shift at all. From there, he changed into a set of pajama clothes and crawled into the bed with Cindy, again making sure not to wake her. What he didn't know was that she was already awake as she heard him when he opened the window.
Somehow managing to keep the panic in her chest silent, she stayed silent as the unknown person moved throughout the room. Cindy had been ready to jump up to fight when the person started getting into the bed, until she caught a whiff of their scent. It was one she recognised as a person very close to her- Xavier.
It was then she came to a realization; Xavier came in through the window, but there was no fire exit on that side of the building. So he had somehow climbed up three stories to his widow and entered- while staying nearly silent the entire time. 'How on Earth?!' That line of thought was interrupted as Xavier got fully into bed, then pulled Cindy into his arms- Making her mind metaphorically blue screen.
It took a moment for her to restart her panic-driven brain and begin functioning again. 'WHAT IS HE DOING?!' Cindy could practically feel all the blood in her body rushing to her face, but she didn't protest. After a moment of internal debating, she gave in to her urges and snuggled up to Xavier.
'... It is getting cold outside…'

Hey guys! I want some of your ideas about Xavier's upcoming suit. I'm gonna keep some specifics to my self but the main colors I wanna use are Black and Gold. This is meant to show both the fact that he is not Peter, and to nod at the spider that bit him. I want to use one of the suits from the ps4&5 games but don't know which one to pick. Feel free to give me your ideas!
This chapter is meant for tomorrow so I might not post tomorrow and if I do it will be a late post. Thank you!
