Chapter 16: Ch-16: Meeting Elder Mu again
Bai Chenyu's lips curled up when he saw his mansion completed, and his master waiting outside. A snort escaped him as he read that Elder Mu returned, and a mischievous look crossed his face when he read about Elder Mu getting pummeled by Feng Bing Huang even though it was when Elder Mu was left unguarded. Despite the girl's sadistic tendencies, she stood up for him, but he quickly shook his head, thinking he needed to keep a proper leash on her. His eyes turned gloomy when he realized he was too poor to buy the contract, narrowing as he read about his bold plan to swipe it from the buyer. He wondered if his future self had a death wish, considering he didn't even know the cultivation or identity of the person he wanted to steal from but inwardly was pleased with his future self as he was courageous.

Bai Chenyu anxiously looked at the screen and hoped that he would not get something trashy as the option for the rewards

Bai Chenyu's eyebrows twitched at the first reward option. "Why would I want the teeth of a cultivator I pummeled? It would be better if the system had given me some treasure from the cultivator instead," he mused. The second option was even more outrageous. "Why in the world would I want injuries as a reward?"
"Even though I'm not entirely satisfied with the last option, it's still way better than the other two," Bai Chenyu remarked as he looked at the final choice: to promote his strength to the 4th stage. Without much choice, he selected this option to boost his cultivation.

As the system's voice echoed, Bai Chenyu sensed a charged amount of spiritual energy in the air closing in on him. Quickly, he sat cross-legged on his bed and began cultivating, using the Celestial Qi Cultivation Method to absorb the spiritual energy in the air, drawn to him like two opposite poles of a magnet attracting each other.
"Nice," Bai Chenyu felt the bottleneck shatter, and his aura surged. He could feel that he had reached the 4th stage of the Mortal Ascension Realm.
Knock, knock
"Chenyu, are you awake?" Mo Xiao's voice rang out from outside the room. Bai Chenyu got out of his bed, opened the door, and saw his master standing there with a smile on his face. He was about to say something, but his words got stuck in his throat.
"C-Chenyu, you reached the 4th stage already?" Mo Xiao asked in disbelief. Just yesterday, Bai Chenyu was at the 3rd stage and didn't even sense the tiniest bit of spiritual energy needed to break through to the next stage. Now, he sees his disciple made a breakthrough, which shocked him.
"Yes, Master, I just cultivated normally and made a breakthrough," Bai Chenyu said without much emotion, causing Mo Xiao's eyes to twitch as he observed Bai Chenyu's nonchalant attitude but calmed down, attributing it to his physique, which was true as well.
"Oh, and by the way, your mansion is ready. You can go and move in there anytime you want," Mo Xiao informed with a smile on his face.
"I understand," Bai Chenyu replied in a calm voice, causing Mo Xiao's lips to curve up a bit. Mo Xiao expected Bai Chenyu to be ecstatic and happy, considering he got a luxurious mansion that normal disciples could only dream of. However, Bai Chenyu remained calm, which pleased him.
"And also, go to the technique hall and pick a technique for yourself. If you need more, you can tell me. Alright, I still have some important work to do. I'll leave you alone," Mo Xiao said as he threw a token engraved with the words "Golden Peak Disciple" on it and turned to leave. Before he left, he turned back and looked at Bai Chenyu again.
"Also, your special disciple robes will be done by today. In the meantime, just wear any sect robe you like," Mo Xiao said before leaving Bai Chenyu alone in the room.
Bai Chenyu picked up a purple robe with "Outer Court Disciple" written in small letters on the chest side and larger words on the back. The trial, outer, and inner court disciple robes were all the same color, with only the title differing on the back and front. After he put on his robe, he left his master's mansion.
After walking for some time, as he couldn't fly yet, it took Bai Chenyu a while to reach the technique hall. Disciples and elders respectfully greeted him, recognizing him from his previous tour of the sect with the Sect Master.
When Bai Chenyu arrived a short distance away from the technique hall, his eyes caught the figure of a familiar person, and his lips curled up mischievously.
"Oh, Disciple Chenyu, long time no see," Elder Mu said. He had just returned and learned from another elder in charge of the trial disciples that Bai Chenyu had awakened his root and had been promoted to an Outer Court disciple. This was further confirmed when he saw Bai Chenyu wearing the robes of an Outer Court disciple.
"Greetings, Elder Mu," Bai Chenyu said in an indifferent tone, making Elder Mu angry as he didn't see Bai Chenyu bowing and greeting him.
"Disciple Chenyu, you will return to the trial disciple court. You have some flaws in your cultivation that may harm you and others," Elder Mu confidently declared, thinking everyone would believe him as he was an Elder while Bai Chenyu was an ordinary disciple. However, others looked at him strangely, and he didn't notice the surrounding silence.
Bai Chenyu smirked and proceeded to ignore him, further enraging Elder Mu.
"You dare disrespect an Elder; you need to be taught a lesson!" Elder Mu gathered some spiritual energy in his palm, ready to strike. He restrained himself, aiming to cause enough damage without harming Bai Chenyu severely, lest he face punishment later.
Bai Chenyu remained unresponsive, having already noticed another person ready to strike Elder Mu.
