Chapter 6: Chapter 6

Harvey

I came home to an empty house with literally no one inside. A heavy silence struck me and I realized something was off. I couldn't smell Alice's presence at all.

I was in a panic. A massive wave of terror washed over me. I bolted to the master bedroom where I kept her still.

It was empty.

My body froze and my heart skipped a beat. I couldn't believe what I just saw and still trying to look for Alice. But my search yielded no results. There were no signs of her in this house. And on top of that, the bedroom's window was opened so wide. Se escaped through that.

It was a dangerous situation out there. The full moon had risen and it was the time for werewolves to be at their strongest. The full moon would usually be the time when the merciless ones, like the Ironmaw, decided to go out for a hunt.

And Alice was out there alone.

For the first time in my life, I could feel nothing other than fear. I was afraid something horrible would happen to her. I was afraid that I might lose her even before she opened her heart for me. I was afraid that I couldn't be with her for the rest of my life.

My Luna. The one I had been waiting for years, was in big trouble. And I couldn't just sit back without doing anything. So I reached for my phone and dialed Jordan. Even without me telling everything, he could already sense something was wrong.

I never called him this late. Moreover after had met only fifteen minutes ago.

"What's wrong, Harvey?"

"Alice is running away."

He replied to me without a bit of hesitation in his voice.

"Okay, I'll be there in five minutes."

I couldn't keep my feet stood still. I was shuffling back and forth while thinking where could I find her? In the forest? Or back at her home? Hell, I didn't even know how long had she been on the run. How could I find her?

Jordan arrived shortly after with a few of our members. Sean, Derek, and Jacob went along with him.

"Care to explain, Harvey?" Jordan asked me with a serious look.

I sighed.

"I don't know, Jordan. I don't know where she is right now, or even how long she has been out there. The only thing I found when I was back was an empty bedroom."

"We should find her now. There are so many treats for her in the forest." I said seriously.

Jordan nodded.

"Let's split up and search her separately. Keep your mind link active." I added.

In a split second, each one of us dashed to the forest while linking through telepathy. A good thing about being a werewolf where we could communicate with the pack's members by using mind links.

Unfortunately, I couldn't do the same for Alice. I hadn't marked her and there was no way I could reach her mind right now. And the only thing left was uncertainty about what happened to her.

The moon shone so bright in the sky. At least she wouldn't be tripped or fell into some hole, right? But still, everything in this forest was so foreign to her. I even doubt she could find her way out by herself.

My eyes wandered around to look for any traces of her while my feet kept running like they were on fire. But I found none.

Maybe I didn't work hard enough.

I contacted Jordan through the link - asking about his situation.

"How is it in the West?"

"None, Harvey."

Then I switched to Sean in the East.

"It's also none, Alpha."

Damn, I hoped the other two would get a better result in finding their Luna.

"How about you, Derek? Find something in the North?"

He sighed and I could hear a rattling sound of wooden branches being moved.

"I find nothing too in here, Alpha."

The fear had risen slowly inside my stomach. Jacob was my last hope. He was the best at finding trace. And if his search also conceded nothing, then I was doomed.

"Jacob, you're good? Any sign of her in the South?"

"Hold on for a second, Alpha. I think I sensed something a while ago."

Good God! Thank you for helping us Moon Goddess. Thank you for giving us a member like Jacob in our pack.

Just right when I felt grateful for any little things that happened, Jacob linked back to me again. And this time, his voice indicated a serious problem was in front of him.

"Alpha, I found a piece of her clothes. A red shirt, right?"

My mind went back to the last thing she wore. Indeed, a red checkered shirt.

"Yeah." I agreed.

"I think something bad had happened here. The shirt is torn and..."

Jacob seemed couldn't continue on his words. And it only made my heart feel worse than before.

"What? What happened to her?!" I shouted in panic.

"The shirt is torn and full of blood."

I froze. I could feel my heart drop in an instant and the panic bubbles that I kept inside were bursting one by one. All five of us were gathered in the place where Jacob found it. And I saw it with my very own eyes.

Her shirt was torn in a piece. There were many blood splatters on the fabric and I could smell it was hers.

Alice was in danger. A real danger that possibly harmed her life.

***

We had spent the whole night looking for her. Every inch of that dense forest had been tracked, every path had been crossed, and even every tree had been checked. But we couldn't find her at all.

As if she had totally disappeared from the earth. There was no way an alien abducted her, right?

The only thing that kept bothering me since last night was that piece of fabric. It was an animal claw that ripped that out. But which animal?

Unless.

Unless it wasn't an animal but the same kind as us. Werewolves. Last night was a full moon and Ironmaws had been on the loose since 7 PM. What if Alice was kidnapped by them? On top of that, what if those cunning wolves decided that it would be fun to hurt her?

She must be in a deep horror now.

The morning finally came and the sun had risen to the sky. Our results went in vain and not a single trace of her was found again. Nothing other than a piece of bloody red fabric.

I came home empty-handed and with anxiety at its maximum. Jordan patted my shoulders when I strode back to my home.

"Don't worry, Harvey. We'll find her soon and she will be okay."

I sighed. The only thing I could do right now was grasp the last bit of hope that was left. The longer she disappeared, the harder we could find her.

But I promised that I wouldn't give up on her. Even if that meant I should be crossing a field of wolfbane, I would do everything to find her and bring her safe and sound.

The day passed so slowly and every second felt like torture to me knowing she was probably unsafe out there. I spent a whole day to see any clues of her in the forest.

I did it alone some time. And the other times, Jordan and the others helped me.

When midnight came, I got a contact from Jordan who was searching on the border of the forest. And what he told me had me stiffened in panic and fear.

"Found her, Harvey! She's here!"

"She is alright, right?"

"No, she's dying! Come here quick!"
