Chapter 5: Give me a name

"I've been living in the forest for as long as I can remember, never met my parents so I never knew what they looked like." Said the wolf girl.

"I grew up by myself, figuring out how to survive and other stuffs, and sometimes I get hunted down by the neighboring villages because I'm from a beast race, or so they say, in that regard, I never really had anyone to speak to or play with….

But then you showed up, I saw you take down a grim reaper, and I was super impressed, and then you passed out, so I thought I'd help you".

The wolf girl chow down on the roared meat in her hand, her tail wagging happily as she savored the delicious taste of the meat with her eyes sparkling with joy.

"You act like you've never eaten meat before," Luminis spoke, as he drew the remaining meat towards the fire.

"Well, I usually eat them raw, so, I guess I didn't know it was possible to do this with fire." She replied, taking another bite out of the meat in her hands.

A nervous chuckle showed on Luminis's face for a second before he paused and turned to her,

"Why did you tie me up though?" He asked.

"Hmmmmmk…" The wolf girl nervously turned her gaze to the side with a drop of sweat at the side of her eyes.

"Oi!" Luminis called out again, but the wolf girl still didn't want to answer the question or make any eye contact.

Feeling pissed off, Luminis suddenly stood up from the ground, and snatched the meat from her hand.

"Ahhahekekek!" The wolf girl cried out, hugging Luminis's lower half as she looked up at him, "Give it back! Give it back!".

"I believe I asked you a question, if you answer with the truth, I'll give you back your dinner, but if you don't, I'll eat everything and tie you back to the tree." Luminis threatened.

The wolf girl fell silent, tears still hanging at the side of her eyes before she slowly began to bury her face in his clothes.

"I feuwlt luonely." She mumbled.

"Uhn? What was that? I didn't quite catch it."

"Hmmmm…." She growled silently before suddenly raising her head to look at him.

"I felt lonely okay?!!!" The wolf girl yelled, her face flushed with embarrassment, "I figured if I kept you with me, we'd bond like those monsters in the next village do… I… guess, sorry." She looked down again.

Luminis stared at her for a while, a bit surprised but everything came out as a burst of laughter, his laughs filling the air.

"D-don't laugh." She muttered with a shy expression.

"Sorry sorry, tieing a person up is just crazy, but…" Luminis smiled, his hand resting on her head, "Since you didn't hurt me and I pretty much don't have where to go, I can let it slide".

"Okay… now give me back my meat." The wolf girl asked, her hand raised upward towards his face.

"Hai hai."

....

It's been three days since Luminis has been living outdoors with his wolf friend, during his time in the woods, he had learnt a lot of things from both her and his system.

For example, the world [Earth Nova] he was currently in was nothing like the one he left behind, people here rely on magic to survive.

The Hall forest was the name of where Luminis currently is and is home to different species, ranging from Orcs, to goblins and even elves.

But throughout the three days he had been in the forest, Luminis hadn't once run into any of these creatures.

He had built a small hut for both him and the wolf girl to sleep in, at the same time, improving his overall knowledge on the skills he kept getting as time passed.

"So…, I was thinking, how about we leave the forest and go to the kingdom, it has to be more favorable for us here right?".

[Notice: Would you like me to show you a map of the path that would lead to Fiona Kingdom?]

'Chill, Aril, I want asking her,'

[Apologies]

"You want to leave the forest?" The wolf girl asked, her voice taking a sad tone as she looked at Luminis.

Sigh!

"You'll be coming with me of course, you don't really don't think I'd leave you alone here, do you?" Luminis spoke, before he stood up from the ground.

"If the kingdom is anything like I imagine, you'll be able to eat varieties of food other than meat, and it's more efficient since I'd get more knowledge of how this word works." He continued.

"Yeah… I suppose." The wolf girl spoke with little to no endusuaim.

"What is it this time?" Luminis asked.

The wolf girl was quiet for a while, until she suddenly looked at Luminis and spoke,

"I want you to give me a name!!!" She yelled, her eyes sparkling with determination.

"Eh?"

"I'll follow you to the kingdom, but you have to gift me a name. I heard the kingdom is filled with bad evil people and also leeches that steal people for themselves. If we are bound to the naming ritual, our bond will grow even bigger and I'll be able to protect you from them." She exclaimed, every word leaving her mouth was backed up by her fiery resolve

'Leeches? What is she talking about?... Uhn… wait…'

"You don't have a name?" Luminis asked with a shocked expression on his face.

The wolf girl stared at him for a while, "You thought I did?".

"You don't?"

"I don't."

"Eh?"

"Why are you so shocked? You never asked for my name, so I assumed you knew about it." The wolf girl uttered, with a deadpan expression on her face.

"That's because I'm a guy and asking for another person's names when I'm bonding never crosses my mind!" Luminis yelled,

"You didn't give yourself a name either? Why not?" He asked,

"Because… I'm a wolf species, and we typically always get named by those we respect and have more power than us, it's just instinct," She replied.

"I see….and this applies to everyone in this world?" Luminis asked.

"I don't know, probably,"

"I see… well if I was going to name you anyway, I'd have to go with something like…."

"Alpha."
