Chapter 3: chapter 3

The rocky slopes are circular, converging on a deep ravine with no end. On each side, there are six floating stones with purplish light that flows towards the four corner stars.

The light from the sun's rays that was drained at that time increasingly radiated from the blazing star. Amram stared at the starlight that illuminated the deep twilight. "They say that this star is the only blessing left to us by the gods when night falls."

I was silent, observing the beauty that felt empty as darkness little by little colored our vision. I thought about where the gods had gone when sermons and prayers were still being praised for them.

However, this land will not last long; little by little, the glory and prosperity of the land of peace will only be a story for mankind, who can still survive without the protection of the primordial gods by their side.

"Did they say anything other than that?" Honestly, I was curious about the shining starlight; there were no records from explorers who talked about stars and six floating stones.

Amram shook his head as if he didn't get much from the elders. "They just said that God created this land for all his creatures."

The desert wind that night howled, entering the abyss and bringing the sounds of desert life. All creatures look towards the source, which always brings them signs. Amram looked at the tents where fires were starting to be lit to avoid the darkness of the night. Further away from the campsite, he saw parents taking turns watching from the top of the hill. And from further away, he saw a group of war soldiers heading towards the Oasis.

Once again, the peaceful land will be colonized by them. His heart roared again, like the desert, which always brought signs. He walked down the rocks and headed back towards the camp. "Let's go back; the wind is giving a sign that something bad will happen soon."

.

Without saying a word, I followed Amram from behind. Even though it was a land of peace covered in blessings from the gods, the Oasis always kept a secret that was known to many people as an area of spoils of war that the residents could not avoid.

My heart flutters when I remember that fact: this land filled with beauty holds many struggles and tears for its inhabitants.

That's when we both ran towards the campsite and saw the elders standing there to say something like, "We have lived on this land for a long time, taking care of it as if we were taking care of ourselves as a form of gratitude for the Creator's gift." His face looked firm even though several wrinkles appeared there, and his body, which was covered by a gray robe, increasingly showed the vulnerability of his age, which had passed more than half a century.

"Even so, you are still our leader; the blessing flows in your veins to protect the land of Oasis." The elder said in his soul that he had surrendered to life and death.

"I understand; I will act as my father has taught us about this Oasis land." His words were without emphasis and surrounded by respect and a smile of wisdom.

That's when Amram looked at me and said, "Brother Zahab, this land will soon be attacked. I would be very happy if you accompanied the children and women to a safer place."

My face smiled when I saw his wise side: "I will take them and return to you because I have promised that your prayers will be heard again by God." Besides, there are still many questions within me, either to myself or to the creator, that make me have to stay.

"Then I will wait for you at the front of the line." I nodded my head in agreement and immediately went to the campsite to ask the women and children to move to a safer place.

I stepped closer to a woman who was holding a pot of water filled with water. I approached her and told her about what would soon happen in this Oasis land. "Please tell the others that a group of warring tribes will come here."

He was silent for a while, but his expression didn't show any surprise at all. "It seems like this land will be attacked again." My eyes flashed with surprise when I heard the words of the woman, who was dressed in dark clothes.

"Again.." It seems like this isn't the first time the land of Oasis has been attacked; is this what caused Amram's father's death? I don't know why I understand, remembering that he became a leader at such a young age.

"This land was once loved by the gods; even its blessings flowed in gusts of wind that answered every prayer."

"But unfortunately, the earth is ungrateful, and its inhabitants are still searching for the truth about their creator." I was silent, paying attention to what the mother who brought the pottery said. Did she mean that they wanted to revive a dead god? Wait, I sense the overlapping history around here. What happened to the gods after the Dark Ages?

My brain cavity continued to think, and that's when I remembered the carving in the ruins of the temple that described the spear of judgment. That was a bit of my memory that came back before I experienced memory loss.

"Mother, what are you doing there?" A red-haired girl with horse ties approached us; she had a height equal to the average height of a man, which made her posture full of authority. His face looked so firm that you could be sure everyone would follow his instructions.

Maybe it was this woman who guided the people to the camp without my realizing it.

"Oh, my child, will you accompany your sister to stop the instigators?" The girl just stared back in confusion before looking at me in a robe with dark trousers.

"O my mother, I will protect the land as she has entrusted it to me." He again said something that had become the fortress of his life.

Then he continued to tell me, "I will take care of the people here, so please take care of my little brother, Professor." My face shrinks even more. Have we met before? It would feel awkward if I didn't greet him when our eyes met.

"Sorry about earlier, but may I know your name?" The girl looked at me with brown eyes and a very deep smile.

"Call me Noa, professor."

I was silent, as if remembering something in the past that I couldn't continue, when thousands of arrows started attacking the camp. "Professor behind you," Noa warned, warning that one of the arrows was trying to pierce my back body. I quickly turned my left leg towards the back to avoid the object covered in fire.

"This." My face was so distorted looking at the scene in front of me. Did they want to destroy the Oasis land and devour it into flames without leaving anything behind?
