Chapter 2: 2. Copper-5

Though it seemed like a long journey through a never-ending void, Finn eventually popped out into a room after he was subjected to what could be explained as "a rollercoaster through darkness." Finn held his mouth trying to push back the vomit he almost spewed on the all-white floors.

"All white floors," Finn looked above him seeing nothing but white, the opposite of the last room he was put in.

"Choose your class." A blue panel popped up from what seemed like thin air.

Finn stood there quietly for what seemed like minutes before asking himself if a floating panel just popped out of thin air. "I don't know how you did the last bit but the budget for this prank is insane."

"Pick your class." The floating panel said again and Finn slowly walked toward it.

Finn looked underneath the floating panel, passing his hands both above and below it to look for strings that might have propped it up. "Really, really... high budget." Finn looked at the blue panel and written on it was what he last saw three years ago when he still played video games.

[Class: Sorcerer] <Grants user full control over the elements, can be enhanced by using a runic wand>

[Lowered dexterity, Lowered strength, added intelligence, lowered movement speed. Increased attack range.]

{Perks: Magical affinity increased, starting mana increased, reduced casting time, elemental affinity maxed, mana consumption reduced, mana regeneration increased. Reduced learning time}

"What the... what is this supposed to be? A video game? This is real life you know." Finn shouted out hoping someone would come out with balloons and cameras but all he heard was an echo.

"You know what, I'll play along." Finn tapped the panel but it beeped.

"Class picked. One remaining class."

"Very funny, I'm guessing the budget wasn't big enough to make a lot huh." Finn swiped on the panel.

"Two classes available."

"What my suggestion made you add one more?" Finn laughed.

"Special class unlocked: Kaleidoscope"

"Special? I can bet you didn't even put it in." Finn swiped past the first available class [Farmer] looking for the newer one.

[Class picked: Kaleidoscope] <Grants user all existing classes except Ravager and Godlike>

[Added strength, speed, mana, dexterity, toughness, intelligence, all existing buffs for other classes, no weaknesses (Kaleidoscope buff) weapon master]

{Perks: all existing perks from every class, reduced poison, burn, melt, freeze, shock.}

[Kaleidoscope can be imitated]

"Wait? What's that last part? Wait class picked? What is going on."

"Have a good trip into your new life. Finn Crest-Angel." The panel disappeared and a hole appeared below Finn."

"My last names White!" Finn said while falling into what seemed like the abyss.

Dragons soaring the skies, horses being ridden by lizards, reptiles selling cupcakes. Finn stood in the middle of the road watching everything bypass him, "Dragons, lizard people, men with heads of octopuses." Finn closed his eyes and slowly opened them back up, "I'm guessing it's not a prank."

"Jin gra tyurrr kyaaaaaa!" A lizardman shouted at Finn. "JU GREE - way!"

"Huh?" Finn looked at the lizardman, perplexed at what just came out of its mouth.

[Class switched: Sorcerer]

{Perk used: reduced learning time}.

"Get out of the way kid!" The lizardman repeated himself and Finn stepped out of the way.

[Class switched: Kaleidoscope]

"Did I just learn a new language?" Finn looked around. "What is this place? What about the people from the cave, where are they?"

"I am Dusk, your personal assistant. I will be guiding you through your adventures till you eventually defeat the evil god. EA."

Finn started walking down the busy roads of the new world, staring at everything he could slowly watching the bizarre language reshape itself into English. "What a crazy phenomenon."

"Sir. I am Dusk, your guide in this perilous world."

"I wonder if everyone has this voice in their head." Finn continued walking, "Maybe an after-effect of coming into this world. I wonder how everyone deals with the schizophrenic voice though."

"I am not your schizophrenic twin sir. Just stop and listen to me."

Finn stopped and laughed. "I'm high! That's it!"

"For Pete's sake sir, listen to me."

"I'm guessing you aren't going to leave." Finn continued walking after he started getting 'Is he okay?' Stares. "I'm guessing they can't hear you."

"Nobody except you can hear me, I am your PERSONAL assistant as I said before."

"Whatever... well, okay 'guide' how about you 'guide' me to where I want to go," Finn said mocking the voice that spoke to him.

"And where would that be Sir?"

"..." Finn put his hand on his head and laughed. "I hate this day so much."

"It would be in your best interest that you visit a guild. That way we can get an adventurers permit and card. It also means you can make money and you'll be well on your way to killing the supreme god."

"I won't be killing anything, it's not my problem. The only reason I'm here is to see that bastard that knew something about the mixer." Finn clenched his fist.

"I would suggest going to the guild while it's still early, getting some money would be good for starters." Dusk sent directions to the guild directly into Finn's brain.

"I see yellow lines. Why? Am I okay?"

"This is going to be a long day." Dusk sighed.

The guild was a large building in the center of the city of Gales, Finn walked toward the giant cathedral-like structure seeing people in groups of two, three and four going in and going out. Finn gulped before walking into it.

The interior was just as he imagined it would've been from the outside, at the front is a bar that has seats at the sides of the room so there's a walkway through the middle. Walking past the bar leads you to the reception of the guild, Finn walked up to the woman who stood behind the counter.

"Hello sir, how may I help you today?"

The receptionist asked.

"Ask for an adventurer's license but don't tell her about your special class. If she asks say your class is the Twin Blade attacker class." Dusk warned Finn who didn't talk but instead listened intently.

"I'm new here, I was wondering if I could get an adventurers license..." Finn followed his guide's instructions.

"Sorry, but guild licenses aren't given out that easily. First of all, we need to register you in the city if you aren't already, then we also have to set a test. A minor adventure under the supervision of an Iron-ranked adventurer." The receptionist laid out the rules.

"I didn't know about these new changes."

"No kidding." Finn looked around.

"Sorry sir?" The receptionist asked but Finn dismissed her with a smile.

"How fast can we do all this though? I'm... well kinda broke for now."

"We can provide for you housing till you get on your feet. It's the least we can do for our adventurers." The receptionist bent down below the counter and came back up with a file in hand. "You'll have to fill everything out and tomorrow we'll have an iron-ranked adventurer assist you on your test adventure."

"Thanks." Finn grabbed the file from her and the words on it slowly reshaped into English. "What's copper?"

"Oh, it's the lowest rank that can be assigned to an adventurer. Don't worry, everyone starts out at copper-5." The receptionist assured him.

"-5?"

"All ranks have 5 stages, the closer you are to the first stage determines how close you are to getting promoted to the next. Think of it as an additional indicator." The receptionist smiled. "Some requests might need a copper-1 rank rather than a copper-5. When you get to the higher ranks. Gold and Diamond respectively. The number would be your status or position amongst other people within the same rank rather than an additional indicator."

"I see," Finn said staring at the file.

"Ask her for a stat pad," Dusk said.

"Umm... can I have a stat... pad?"

"Oh you know your stuff, we usually give this out after the tests are over but when asked we can give it at any time." The receptionist picked out a small button from a box and handed it to Finn. "The innkeeper will show you to your room."

Deeper in the guild was another place that looked a lot like the bar at the front however a bit smaller, the walls were graced with horrific boar heads and paintings of art that would have been considered grotesque on earth. Finn walked through the crowd of people who ate and drank at what seemed to be the bar/eatery of the inn. "I'm looking for the innkeeper."

"Let me guess you're a broke adventurer trying to leech off the guild for as long as you can." The lady behind the desk said with a bit of attitude before bursting into laughter. "I'm the innkeeper, my names Martha. Martha of Martha's Inn, bring your friends."

"She's quite the talkative one isn't she sir." Dusk said and Finn slowly nodded."

"Don't worry about my ramblings, it always makes me happy to see young bloods trying to earn some money. At least before they end up like that." Martha looked at the drunk men who ate and laughed at the tables across her.

"I'll try my best." Finn yawned slightly pressuring her into making a decision.

"Oh, you must be tired. It's noon but here," Martha tossed a bunch of keys at Finn who caught it in mid-air. "It's the third room on the left." She pointed at the hallway.

Not that Finn would've admitted it but he was lost. Finn must've put the keys in every door until Dusk pushed directions directly into his brain. "You're welcome."

"Yeah, yeah."

They spent time filling out the form given to them by the receptionist, it answered some pending questions he had about the world and its structure. "So Iron isn't actually that far away from Copper."

"It's a tiering system and although Copper is just two places away from Iron it doesn't mean there isn't a huge gap in strength and experience."

Ranking system.

Copper

Granite

Iron

Platinum

Silver

Gold

Diamond

Special rank.

Alexandrite

Painite.

"Two special ranks? What are those." Finn asked Dusk who he imagined had more experience in the world.

"Those ranks are reserved for people who've performed extraordinary feats, it's so special that there might only be a handful of people in them."

"Anyways I'm tired. I'll think about all this stuff tomorrow." Finn fell onto his bed.

"Okay, just fill out your name and class." Dusk said but Finn didn't answer. "Sir? Sir? Of all the humans I could've gotten I had to get one with rapid narcolepsy."
