Chapter 2: CHAPTER TWO
Abigail didn't know what to do in this situation, Jeffery wasn't wrong, it did look like they were having for fun.
"Blood" Jeffery said surprised when he saw the stain of blood on the floor, he looked to check who was injured and then he spotted the cut on Abigail's toe.
"It's nothing serious" Abigail quickly spoke out not wanting any attention on her injured feet. She tried to come down but Xavier still had his arms around her, though he wasn't looking at her, she could tell he was doing this on purpose.
"How did you cut yourself?" Jeffery asked as
He looked at her feet before returning his gaze back to Xavier but this time he was looking enraged "Did you cause this?" Jeffery asked as he looked at Xavier with angry eyes but it was clear that all this was an act.
"You talk too much" Xavier spoke as he walked past Jeffery still with Abigail in his arms he got to the couch and placed her down.
"Hey I'm just concern about my sister-in-law okay, since you can't care for her very well" Jeffery said as he followed behind them. He watched Xavier bring out the first aid kit at the side as he tended to the wound.
"You know what Abigail, you should live with me, I would take good care of you better than Xavier ever will" Jeffery said with a smile on his lips as he galnced at Xavier to know if the man would be enraged but it seemed like he didn't care about what he said.
Abigail watched Xavier as he cleaned the wound, she was the doctor, not him but it looked like they had now switched jobs. Seeing him do this, one might mistake his action to be of concern but Abigail knew too well to be fooled. This was all an act, not sure who he was trying to fool but she would just play along for the time being.
"Ouch" Abigail cried in pain when Xavier added spirit to the wound. The sound of her in pain had made Xavier halt for a moment to look at her face. His eyes squinted a little as he gazed on her from below but he quickly looked away to complete his task.
"Careful will you? She's hurt and we don't need you to make things worse" Jeffery said with his hands in his pants pocket, he glanced at the wall clock at the side and saw that they were already five minutes late, it would take them thirty minutes to get to the event hall and now they were already late. He didn't mention this to Xavier as he didn't want to disturb the couple's moment right now, he enjoyed seeing Xavier like this. Even though the marriage was fake, he hoped that things could change and perhaps Xavier would fall in love with Abigail.
But he knew that was too much to ask, Xavier falling in love was an impossibility. But hey, miracles happen right? He could only hope that his thoughts could come to pass.
"Good you are done" Jeffery said when he saw Xavier stand up to go keep the first aid kit. Jeffery took the opportunity and got close to Abigail to help her up. "You can walk right?" Jeffery asked as he helped her up.
"Yes thank you" Abigail replied, she could walk before and she can also walk now, it was just a small cut and there was no need for all this.
"Thank you" Abigail said when Xavier walked towards them, she had a small smile on her lips. She knew she wouldn't get any response from him and she didn't really care, she just wanted him to know that she was greatful for his help. Wether or not he choose to be polite was non of her business.
"Let's go" Xavier spoke as he turned his back against them and headed for the doors.
"Ignore him Abigail, he's like that to everyone" Jeffery said trying to explain to her that this was just Xavier's attitude.
"Yeah I noticed " Abigail said with a half smile on her lips as they both head for the door.
"It seems like you re getting to know him well, not many have the patience to be with him. Some say he's scary while others fear he's too vulgar, but I know Xavier, though he acts like this rude, arrogant, stubborn man, he's a good person." Jeffery said as he watched Xavier enter the limo "He's a great guy, you just need to understand him" Jeffery added as he glanced back at Abigail before offering a smile.
"There's no reason for that you know, it's only a few months, I'm not going to be spending my life with him." Abigail said with a small laugh "Just have to bear for a few months" Abigail added.
"It doesn't have to be" Jeffery said out of the blue surprising Abigail with his words. "I mean it doesn't have to be for a few months, you could still stay and help him. It's not like you have someone you abandoned behind? If you divorce Xavier then his parents are going to give him a hard time about finding a wife and they might just pair him with that spoilt heiress" Jeffery said but along the line he realized that all this was really not of Abigail's concerned, the deal she made with Xavier didn't say that she would stay to help him. "Sorry, I drifted." Jeffery said and shook his head to regain himself. "Come on, let's go before he comes hear and starts an uproar" Jeffery spoke as he head for the car.
Abigail still stood there for a few seconds before she quickly hurried her steps and followed him . Like Jeffery had said 'he drifted' her contract with Xavier was to stay with him for as long as she is carrying his child, once the child is born, then she will leave. There was no additional contents, Jeffery needed to understand that she had her life back in her country, she was willing to abandon that for a few months. Of course she would have to go back to her mum and Kai, they were her family. How does he expect her to leave them all behind just to be with Xavier
