Chapter 18: EVIL ALLIANCE

"he didn't do anything Xavier, your father was the one who asked him not to inform you of our arrival, Alfred was only following orders" Laura butted in since she was the only one left in the living room, the rest had gone to the dining for breakfast.

"You are suppose to inform me if they are visitors, who gave you permission to let them in?" Xavier asked as he looked at Alfred not minding any of the words Laura said, it was like she wasn't even talking to anyone when she spoke, Xavier made sure to ignore her presence.

"We'll discuss this later" Xavier added before dismissing Alfred, he looked around and couldn't find the rest, only Laura was standing in the living room. She had a small smile on her lips as she looked at Xavier, she didn't bother to go near him, she new he would definitely push her away without any restraint.

"Xavier" She whispered under her breath as she tried to speak further but Xavier was quick to shut her up.

"Don't even think about it" Xavier said as he strode out of the living room and head for the dining, he wasn't in the mood for a mother and son reunion, he didn't even want to hear any explanation,he would rather continue and let things stay the way they were.

Laura sighed as she fought to hold back tears, she was desperately trying her best to make Xavier understand but her son was as stubborn as his father. If only Xavier could understand her reasons then he would not hate her as much as he did. It's been years now and Xavier had never had a conversation with her, his words were always reduced to the minimum and most times they were just a simple good day.

Laura knew that if she had a chance to go back in time then she might as well do the same thing again, only this time she wouldn't keep it a secret from her son. Another sigh escaped her lips as she looked around the mansion, she then head for the dining room.

Everyone was already seated and there was one vacant spot next to elder Quinn, she knew that was where she should be seated.

"What happened to mun?" Abigail asked as she slightly tugged Xavier while looking at him, but the man only glanced at her for a few seconds and looked away.

Abigail could feel the tension in the air, so many secrets, this was a family dinner but one could mistake it for an evil alliance. Before Abigail left the living room she noticed something, she had taken a mental note to discuss it later with Xavier but it didn't seem like the man was in the mood to talk to her or anyone.

Breakfast arrived and everyone began eating, Elder Quinn then started the talking, he had a pleased look on his face as he talked to Abigail, he asked questions about her and her family background and so many other things.

At a time Abigail thought he was just being curious but knowing the kind of man elder Quinn was made her doubt her thought. It was like he was trying to get some information from her and that was beginning to annoy her.

"Oh yes I just remembered, it almost skipped my mind" Elder Quinn said as he took a glass of water before turning to Xavier. "When is the marriage going to take place?" Elder Quinn asked and his question made everyone at the dining table pause, except Xavier who just continued eating like he didn't hear what the man said.

"Well you guys are already engaged so what's stopping you?" Elder Quinn asked again as he now looked at the couple, he knew there was something that someone was not telling him.

"We are already married" Xavier answered, his voice cold and resounding in the dining hall, his tone had now changed as he didn't bother to look at anyone right now.

"Oh, how come I was not invited?" Elder Quinn said and chuckled a little at the end of his words, he looked at everyone in the dining room but they were all surprised at this news too.

"It was a simple court marriage, just us" Abigail answered this time, she knew if Xavier was to speak then he might just kill them all. He was on the verge of breaking down but he was trying his best to keep his cool.

"Why simple? Xavier is a Quinn afterall, we don't do simple marriages" Elder Quinn said as he looked at Abigail. "Was it your idea?" Elder Quinn asked as he looked at the girl.

"Yes, we didn't want crowd and so we didn't invite anyone " Abigail said as she looked at Xavier but it didn't seem like he was listening to all they were saying.

"Nonsense" Elder Quinn said then turned to Xavier and added "we'll have to have another wedding, invite everyone, the governors, mayor and so many other's. It's my son's marriage for God's sake, my heir, we can't just do it simple, it's not done that way" Elder Quinn said while his gaze remained on his son to see if he would burst out anytime soon but it seemed that he was learning how to control his temper very fast.

"No" Xavier finally spoke as he picked his galss of water.

"What do you mean no?" Elder Quinn asked not liking this at all, he wouldn't tolerate disobedience from anyone not even his own son.

"No there is not going to be another wedding, if you want to see the governors then go to their offices or you can have another marriage by yourself" Xavier said his tone sounding cold, there was no respect in his voice as he talked to elder Quinn. Xavier looked like he had heard enough nonsense for one day, he was getting tired of hearing all the lies.
