Chapter 115: Don't Check Too Hard...
By the time I returned to the island, even Erhard seemed rather weary.
"You okay Erhard?"
"I'm fine..."
"Don't force yourself. Get ample rest today."
"Yes sir..."
I took Erhard to the housing facilities and let him recuperate before reporting to Sarina.
"It's done Sarina. Should be safe for a while I reckon."
"Good work. But will this be okay? They're a major power."
"No issue. I've got no mercy for those who'd assail the children."
"If Yoshinobu-san says so then alright."
"How're those two holding up?"
"Resting together in the room currently."
"I see. Maybe I'll go check on them."
I headed for Shou's room where the pair stayed. En route I met Mai and Kaeda.
"Hey, I'm gonna see how Shou-kun and Miki-san are doing. Wanna come with?"
"Yes! I was worried about them too!"
Mai readily agreed to accompany me but...
"Umm... Maybe we shouldn't go now..."
Kaeda objected.
"Kaeda? Why? Aren't you worried for them?"
Mai seemed confused by Kaeda's words.
"I am worried! But y'see..."
Kaeda struggled to explain for some reason.
"No buts! Let's go together!"
Mai dragged Kaeda along towards Shou's room.
"Shou-kun, you there?"
No response after I knocked.
"See Yoshinobu-san, they aren't in! Let's head back for n- Eek!!"
As Kaeda immediately tried leaving, I...
"Gotta check just in case something happened. Going in."
"I said don't! Wait!"
Kaeda grabbed and pulled at me to stop her, but I opened the door. Luckily it was unlocked, but labored breathing emanated from within.
"Shou-kun! You alright?!"
I threw open the bedroom door it came from and then... Shou was on top of a naked Miki...!
"...Sorry to interrupt huh. My bad!"
I promptly closed the door again, but...
"Kyaaa!!"
"Gwaaaah!!"
Shou and Miki's mortified shrieks echoed out.
"Wh-Why Yoshinobu-san?!"
"H-Hey Kaeda! You saw! You saw right?!"
"So sorry... I couldn't stop Miki."
Kaeda apologized awkwardly through the door.
"Saw what? What happened?"
Mai seemed unable to grasp the circumstances.
"Mai too?! Why're you all here?!"
"What's wrong with me being here Miki?"
"Not just you! Kaeda and Yoshinobu-san too!"
"Hey Miki, what's with the attitu-... H-Hold up, stop pulling me!"
"I'll explain for you, so let's talk outside!"
Kaeda dragged the struggling Mai out of the room.
"Really sorry bout this. I'm gonna slip out too. Let's have a proper talk when you've calmed down! Seeya!"
