Chapter 117: Louise Comes Calling
As Shou and Miki started recuperating at base, Louise brought 1000 troops with her.
"Yoshinobu-san, I've finally ar- What the-?!"
Louise's shriek echoed out.
"Something wrong Louise?"
"Nothing wrong! Just what is all this?! Wasn't this place a run-down port town?!"
"Well it was, but made some modifications since I got it."
"...Haah, of course that's how it is with you Yoshinobu-san. I did bring engineers anticipating construction but..."
"Ah probably unnecessary now... So what're you doing with the 1000 people you brought Louise?"
"They'll be stationed here, obviously. Soldiers to defend this town."
"Got it. I'll build them lodgings then."
"Eh?"
I constructed living quarters.
"It'll take a few days so everyone'll have to rough it camping till then yeah?"
The current housing might fit some numbers but not 1000.
"I set up a room for you with us though Louise. It lacks the furnishings of a castle so bear with it."
"Please, Yoshinobu-san's rooms exceed castles! We're the ones imposing so thank yo- Huh? A child?"
Noticing the unfamiliar Shimo amidst me and Sarina, Louise was taken aback.
"Mommy, daddy, who's this person?"
Pointing at Louise, Shimo questioned us. Hearing her words, Louise grew flustered.
"M-Mommy?! Daddy?! W-Wait, what's going on here?! Sarina-san?!"
I admonished the pointed finger.
"Shimo, it's rude to point at people like that."
"Oh, sorry about that!"
"Y-Yoshinobu-san! More importantly, explain that child! Who is she?!"
We elaborated on Shimo and the other children we'd taken in.
"I-I see... So you adopted orphans..."
Louise breathed a sigh of relief realizing they weren't our actual children. Though we really haven't been apart long enough for that.
"Yeah. Shou-kun brought them but Sarina and I look after them yeah?"
"Daddy, who's this person?"
Shimo innocently repeated herself.
"Louise's this country's princess. So don't address her like that."
"Pleased to meet you princess! This is mommy and daddy's home! Not the princess' home!"
"Sh-Shimo-chan, I live here too! So let's get along okay?"
Louise answered somewhat awkwardly.
"You live here too princess? Okay!"
Shimo trotted off somewhere.
"Quite the... distinctive child Yoshinobu-san."
"Sorry, she's just shy with strangers. Not a bad kid so go easy on her 'kay?"
"Well if you say so but..."
Louise still looked worried. Shimo carried her intel back to the children's council.
"I report, daddy has new female trying to get close! But she says she'll live here so we can't act yet!"
"Tch! She intends threatening mom's standing?!"
"No jumping to conclusions! We promised Yoshinobu-san! Absolutely no harming others! We'll support mom from the shadows!"
The children decided on covert actions. Yoshinobu's side would remain Sarina's without exception...!
