Chapter 2: 1 Olivia the witch

I walked through the hallway of my goddamed school Monday morning. I hated this school and almost everyone in it. It was just a natural feeling. Since I stepped foot on the school grounds, deep down inside me I already knew this wasn't where I wanted to be but I had no choice. This was for dad and only him.

I felt not nervous but disgusted at the intense gazes of other students, especially boys, at me. I knew I was beautiful, I mean I had a mirror and I saw God's craft work staring back at me every time, but people just staring and gawking just made me feel sick. Passing by the locker room, I spared a glance at three girls. Their names; Courtney, Wendy and Sandra. They called themselves the 'Baddies of S.S.H' and they made it a point of duty that they were called that. Such a pity! The phrase gingled in my head. It's a pity because these girls were an eyesore, to me that is and to other sensible people. True to their names, they were bad or rather spoilt. It's sad when you're sent to school and instead of studying, you turn into what these girls were and believe me...you don't want to.

Moving on from the 'baddies', I continued my 'pilgrim journey' through the hallway. Music could be heard up ahead and when I eventually got close, I walked by a group of students vibing to a song played with a stereo.

'At least this was better than the baddie group,' I thought within me.

I had barely gotten an inch away from them when a familiar voice called me from the group.

"Hey Avril," the voice said, "come join us."

"Sorry, gotta run," I replied, "maybe next time."

"Alright then, see you in class."

That was Miles. He was called the king of music in S.S.H. He was what you would call a 'triple threat' because that he was. He could sing, dance and also act. Not to mention he was the second most handsome boy in the school. Yeah, that's right. The world had it's Billboard hot 💯 and S.S.H had it's top 10 handsome boys. Being dark skinned and with dreads, he always tends to set a commotion where ever he went. Nonetheless he's a good guy and he's kind too and definitely not proud. That's why he's my friend.

Moving on from there to my destination, I....

"Aaaaaaaaaaaah." A girlish scream, loud enough to burst my eardrums, sprang up. Another scream came up and another, then another and...now I was pretty sure that I had to visit my audiologist soon.

Of course everyone in S.S.H already knew why the school was vibrating in wails. It was because of the one person that a dozen girls were ready to kill for to have. He was what you would call every girls' dream... except mine that is. He was the one and only...

"It's Kyle," a girl screamed and the whole hallway was filled with uproar. Thankfully, I was already at my locker.

I caught a glance of Kyle and his circle of 'fans' pass by. Kyle Jenner, that was his name. He was termed the 'Prince of Satellite Senior high'. He was drop dead gorgeous, I had to admit. I had never spoken to him, not because I couldn't stand up from my seat and speak to him but because I just felt some people are best left alone. I didn't want to attract attention to myself, that was the last thing on my bucket list.

Remembering I had come to the hallway for something, I reached for locker and opened it. I shoved my backpack in it and carefully picked my Chemistry, Geometry and English notebooks, the subjects I had that morning but then, I felt a presence behind me. I was certain I knew who the person or persons where. She was no other than the egoistic, self centered with an unbearable bitchy attitude...

"Hello Avril," the voice called from behind.

I turned around and there she was. The torment of my life, a pain in the neck, a fracture of my spine and most importantly...the witch of my life, Olivia with her girl squad of four behind her.

I barely let out a smile.

"Olivia," I called, "did you miss your way?"

"Of course not. I never miss my way," she said, " I came here for you."

I heaved a sigh. "What is it this time?"

Looking at Olivia from head to toe and back again reminded me of the fact that she was a Barbie doll...in terms of clothing. I've watched Barbie a couple of times and Olivia does not have the same attitude as her. Olivia had on a baby pink body hug top which looked a bit too tight, an almond pink mini skirt, pink pointy heels and a somewhat peach hand bag. The only accessory that was not pink was the head band on her blonde hair which was white.

'This can never be me,' I thought within me.

Olivia obviously followed my gaze as she blurted;

"Why are looking at it like that?" She said then scoffed, "I know, you like it but can't afford it, huh?"

I wanted to let out a raging laughter but decided it was best to keep it in.

"No," I retorted, "I was just affirming the fact in me that I would never waste my money and energy, to pick and actually buy whatever that is on your body, it's a total waste of time."

It seemed to piss her off and then I smirked. That was what the sight I loved to see and I was only just beginning.

"Tell me Olivia," I began, "Did you pick out those clothes yourself? Or did your mum do it for you? You know, the same way she does everything else for you."

Enough was enough. I was going to let Olivia have a taste of her own medicine. She couldn't bully everyone and go away Scott free, for what?

"Avril," she called out angrily, "do not bring my mother into this."

"But you've brought mine countless times before. So what's wrong if you have a bite of the same bitter apple you pass on to everyone else, hmm?"

She seemed to be looking for something to say but I wasn't going to let her have the chance.

"Look Olivia, if you don't know what you came here for, I suggest you leave."

It was at that moment that I guessed she finally found her tongue.

"I do have something to say, Avril," she said, "that's why I came here in the first place."

"Then spill it and stop wasting my time," I said. I was already getting impatient.

"Anyways, I came here to warn you to stay away from Kyle," Olivia said.

I didn't know whether to laugh, or scoff or to pray that Olivia goes home with half sense. I just laughed and at a point I felt my belly hurt.

"What's so funny?" One of Olivia's entourage voiced out.

"Yeah, she told you to stay away from Kyle and you're laughing?" Another of her entourage whined.

I stopped laughing annoyed by their unwanted comments.

"Since when did rats begin to talk?" I asked annoyed.

They let out loud gasps and said no more. Then I turned to Olivia.

"Olivia, I don't know the crazy delusions that guide you but you gotta get rid of them," I said, "besides, what makes you think me and Kyle are together. We don't even talk to each other."

"But I see the way he stares at you, in class, at the cafe and even just now as he passed you," Olivia narrated as a lovesick princess would if she lost her lover.

"I can see you don't have better things to do but I do," I said, "Playtime's over, now get lost."

"I have my eyes on you Avril Scott," Olivia said, squinting her eyes before turning to leave.

"Oh, tell your mum to get you better clothes. You look like Barbie gone wrong," I said.

"Ugh," she grunted and stormed away angrily, her peep squad trailing behind.

"She's crazy," I concluded and turned to my locker. I grabbed a pen, closed the locker and was about to leave when two girls stepped in front of me.

'Dear Lord, I hope it's another one,' I prayed within me.

"Hi Avril, we loved how you slammed Olivia," the first girl said.

I stared in confusion at the girls before me but as I looked around, it dawned on me that everyone in the hallway had watched the drama.

"You saw that?" I asked almost choking on my voice.

"We all saw it," a voice said. It was Monica, my best friend.

"Good job, kiddo," Miles said coming up to me with a smile.

"Oh I'm so proud," Monica said looking at me as thought she were a proud mother who had just witnessed her baby's first steps.

"I'm Stacy and this is Maya," one of the two girls in front of me revealed.

"Nice to meet you," I said with a smile.

"Just so you know, we are behind you a hundred percent," Maya said.

"Thanks, I guess," I replied.

"Bye," they both said and I waved at them.

"Bye Miles," the two girls flirtatiously giggled at him.

"See ya," he merely said and they left, their giggles still audible.

"Hey!" Monica shouted and sent a punch straight to Miles' stomach.

"Ouch!" Miles groaned in pain. "What was that for?"

"They bade you bye and you merely said 'see ya'," Monica retorted, "What's wrong if you had said a simple good bye?"

"What the... Are you some women's rights activist?" Miles asked, "Why are you hell bent on tormenting my life?"

"I'm not tormenting you," Monica said, "I'm teaching you manners."

"Really? Well I can see you're doing a great job," Miles said in sarcasm.

They were always like this; fighting, arguing and debating on issues that really didn't need debating.

Monica scoffed. "C'mon Avril, let's go."

"Sorry Monica, I gotta help him. He's hurt," I said.

"Ouch! That hurts you know." She pouted

Miles was quick to notice and pulled out his tongue at her and she on her path didn't fail to give him a devilled side eye.

"Fine, I'll see you in class," she said and walked away.

"I tell you Avril, she's mad," Miles complained as I helped him walk to class.

"Oh stop whining," I told him.

"But it's true. She needs a mental asylum prompto," he said.

"Speak again and your stomach's not going to be the only thing hurting," I said.

"Okay, okay, I surrender," Miles said and stopped talking.

I giggled and we walked on to class. We made just in time before the bell rang and Mr. Jones, the geometry teacher walked into the class.
