Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Another Time Skip

(3rd person pov)

After the buzzard was done screeching Xander was shocked thinking that this fight should have lasted longer than that, before he could do anything it teleported Xander back to the competitive menu.

While on the screen he was in a state of shock, while he didn't think his opponent would give him the biggest trouble he expected the game to last longer than that.

Looking around there was another screen that displayed replays, seeing this he clicked on it and what popped up was a 10-second replay of him demolishing the other player.

After his momentary state of shock, Xander went back to the competitive menu and saw another thing, it was underneath his rank there was a bar that was filled one-tenth of the way up.

Seeing this he guessed that it would take a total of 10 games to get his first rank.

Getting over-excited about this Xander continued on his competitive journey, the next 9 matches went about the same with the longest one lasting about a total of 15 seconds.

Seeing he was done with the placement matches Xander immediately checked his rank and he saw that his first rank was Gold 2 division 2.

Being in gold made him ecstatic and he continued to play hoping that he would run into a person with a weapon.

After being unlucky for another 5 matches after his first gold rank match, he ended up running into the first ranked person who used a weapon.

Xander told his opponent good luck just like he told everyone else before, and his opponent responded with that standard "Huh luck. I don't need that to beat you."

Hearing the same words that he had heard from everyone else that he had faced up until now, Xander decided to ignore what his opponent said and look at the weapon he was holding.

His opponent was holding a long metal spear that looked like it was about 200 cm, or 6ft 6.

After all the smack talk his opponent gave it the countdown was at 2 seconds.

When the buzzer went off just like all of his other opponents the spear user rushed towards him, but unlike all of the other times Xander decided to rush towards his opponent.

Seeing Xander approaching him the spear user was in a quick state of shock, since he didn't expect anyone to be this stupid, and rushed into a battle with a fist only against a spear, as he was thrusting the spear toward Xander's chest he was expecting an easy and fast win.

Unfortunately for him, Xander knew the ways to use the spear and how to counter them, when the thrust was approaching Xander's chest he used gravity to swiftly drop his body toward the ground below the spear.

Still on his feet, Xander rushed towards the spearman ready to grapple him or to try and hit his hand so that the spear would go flying from his hand.

Seeing Xander drop underneath his spear, the spearman was momentarily in a state of shock, but he wasn't one to freeze after something unexpected happened, so he started to bring down the spear like it was a mace.

While it may not have been the best choice the man-made, it was the fastest one he could think of.

Seeing the spear coming down and that it was aimed at his head Xander's mind sped through ideas to do, and he found something that he thought would be interesting so he put his plan to work.

Instead of continuing to rush toward his opponents Xander used the running momentum to fall forward and flipped on his back dropped to the ground, shifted his body then used his hand to push off the ground putting him in an almost handstand position meeting the spear in the air with his foot.

When he felt his foot make contact with the bottom of the spear he quickly examined where the sharp end of the spear was, and after taking into account where it was he used his body to spin in a quick circle and got the spear to be launched away from the man's hands.

Before the spear could get too far from Xander's reach he used his feet to swap where the sharp end of the spear was with its other side.

After doing that he used extreme force in his hand to make him get off the ground, and in mid-air, he straightened out his body grabbed the spear that was in the air, and used all the strength he had in his arm to toss the spear towards his opponent.

Not expecting this kind of outcome the man was just in a dazed state, and was pierced with his spear.

Hearing the buzzard Xander looked at the time it took for him to deal with him, and the total time was 16 seconds.

Xander continued to play for multiple hours and his final rank when he went to bed was diamond 3 division 2 with his longest match lasting 32 seconds.

(time skip, Xander pov)

*Yawn* When getting out of bed I let out a big yawn. I've been so tired with how much time I've put into my combat practice and my medical knowledge. In total, I have put about 8-15 hours a day into learning medical knowledge and combat skills though I have taken a few days off so that I have time to paint, read a book, or do anything musical.

Getting up out of bed and heading downstairs I started to think about what I have done since it has been a total of 11 months now. I have spent a total of 8 months playing, getting my rank up to the grand champion, I even got my favorite weapon up to a grandmaster rank.

The difference between master and grandmaster is huge and immortal is a massive step away from grandmaster, but even with that said I could almost consistently beat the immortal bot with a total of 2 weapons and the hand-to-hand combat that I have developed.

Even though I could barely only get 3 total styles of fighting close to immortal I still got multiple up to grandmaster and most other fighting styles were ranked in master.

The hand-to-hand combat that I made has a combination of all the martial arts I have learned and has very few flaws in it that I'm still working on trying to fix.

My medical knowledge spreads into many of the fields we have for medicine and treatment knowledge that we have.

Another thing is that I also spend some time working out my body so that I can try some of the martial arts that I have made, but the main reason is that I was curious to see how different virtual reality movements and real-life movements were.

I ended up reaching the grand champion way faster than how long I thought it would take me, and one thing to note down is that the higher in ranking you go the harder it is to find opponents.

So when I was in the waiting room for my opponent to finally be found, I spent most of that time mainly learning medical fields.

Thankfully once you get a high enough rank, when you get in the waiting room a side screen pops up and you can use it to do research or to start learning something. So it makes it feel like time passes faster.

Even though I had already reached max rank I thought that it would be better for me to continue to fight real people to learn how they could deceive me.

Sadly that is all I have done in the past 11 months I have been in this world, and I have done almost nothing else. Thinking that YGGDRASIL would be coming to the virtual stage in a month a big smile grew on my face.

After eating I was going to do one of my daily routines and the first thing I did after eating was one of two things which would be either to draw something or use the guitar/violin to play something.

Then after about an hour and a half, I would dive into random medical subjects on my computer, but at this point, I have gone into all medical fields even if it's just like me barely putting my toes into the water.

Depending on if I was enjoying the medical field would determine how long I read and went into the subject, the one that I would have the best understanding of is surgical knowledge, and this would last from 45 minutes to 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Then to end the day I would go to the Neural Nano-Interface and check the game feed to see if there were any interesting games or games that you could have early access to, there has been no game that has caught my interest, but today there was one thing that caught my interest.

What I saw was early access to YGGDRASIL. When I saw this it said that tomorrow at 10:25 am would be the first time you could log in when I saw that there were only a total of 12,524 people who had downloaded it.

It was kind of expected since there were many other games like it so no one saw it as special. After buying the early release I hurriedly went to try and make sure I could constantly beat the immortal bot with my favorite weapon.

(AN, sorry for so many time skips I just want to skip most of this beginning stuff since it would just be repetitive. There will more than likely be a few more time skips.)
