Chapter 16: SECOND STRIDE
"I was never here" Tala shook her head in denial and rushed out of the office in a panic.
"You chased your sister out of my office for the first time in years," I chuckled once the door shut.
"Why were you yelling at her? "Zeeb demanded.
"The KODA council has summoned me. Carter went crying to his father that I wanted to control him. His father called me last night to warn me. I never expected them to send Tala to summon me and I lost my cool for a moment."
"Shit," Zeeb cursed. "You were reckless yesterday. Actions have consequences, Lucian"
"I know. You don't need to remind me. But my wolf does not agree," I laughed.
"Are you a magnet for trouble?" Zeeb chuckled.
"That is the word," I acknowledged. "Did you know Anisha was a wolf under the Freki?
"Yes," Zeeb responded.
"How the fuck I am the last one to know that Anisha is part of the Freki wolves?" I wondered out loud.
"Because you never have never had an interest in the Pack business." Zeeb retorted.
"Fine, fine. Why are you here? What do you have for me?"
"Pfft. I am here to deliver the documents from city planning on the resort project. "He explained and handed me the files.
"What about the designs? Have you discussed it with Anisha?"
"She will deliver the designs to you," Zeeb snapped.
"You are so slow," I uttered.
"And you are having fun, right?" He mused.
"Yes," I acknowledged. "Let us get all the documents today. I need to deliver them to Old Man Benjamin's pub.
"You are not going alone. I will accompany you," Zeeb pointed out.
"Sure" I snickered.
The day flew by and in the late evening, we drove through the misty roads and arrived at old Benjamin's pub. The place looked old and was at the foot of the mountain. Surrounded by trees and the lake, the wind picked up as the sunset. We walked in and stood in awe as we stared at the interior of the pub.
"Did we walk into a portal? " Zeeb whispered, looking as shocked as I was.
"Are we in the right place? "I responded.
The interior of the pub gave a feeling of class and was well-modernized. The vibrant air of the pub was like coming home to a warm posh house. Zeeb and I stared in awe as a young waiter approached us.
"CEO Lucian, welcome "He spoke up. "We have set a table for you. The boss said you would be here at six. "
"Thank you. This place looks so wonderful," I stated as they showed us to the table.
"Uncle Conri is the one who worked on the interior design," the waiter boasted.
"Uncle Conri?" Zeeb learned to whisper.
"That is what I call him. He is older than me, right? "The waiter nodded. "Your drink will be ready. The boss also asked us to serve you dinner. " He announced and left.
"Wow. What a beautiful place." I smiled.
"Why have we been going to town to drink? This place is refined. "
"And Uncle Conri is the one who worked on the interior. It's magnificent. " I laughed with happiness.
"You are incorrigible," Zeeb uttered.
"That I am," I boasted arrogantly.
The drinks arrived as we made conversation with Zeeb and planned for the Koda council meeting.
"I bet Alpha Lobo is going to be a menace"
"You just need to hold out and be polite," Zeeb advised.
"That are terms that are foreign to me "
"Lucian, I will grow white hair soon, by the way, you make me frustrated, "Zeeb stressed out.
"Calm down. You need to get your mate first," I advised.
"Shut up" We laughed and raised our glasses to cheer.
" Are you here to drink or deliver the documents? " Conri's deep voice reached my ears.
My head turned, and I took in the sight of him as he walked over to me. His eyes bore down on mine as I racked my eyes with his face. I leaned back and shamelessly admired him from head to toe. Conri was a sight to behold. Tall, muscular, and handsome, and his aura oozed dominance. I noticed everyone in the pub had gone quiet as they watched him.
"Both" I stood up and looked up at him as we stood toe to toe.
"Where is the document? I don't have much time left to be here in the pub "he announced.
"Here are the documents," Zeeb spoke and handed him the files. Conri turned and took the document and turned to leave.
"Just like that, "I drawled
"What do you need, lil pup?" He smirked and tilted his head. " Your friend is shameless," He informed Zeeb.
"You have no idea," Zeeb drawled.
"I have missed you," I confessed. "Stay for a while," I implored him.
Our eyes clashed, and I felt Freki stir. Looking at Conri made my body sizzle with need. I was tense for a week after he chased me away, plus all the office dramas.
"You love causing trouble," He snickered and then moved to pull the empty chair and he sat down
"He did," Zeeb responded. "He has been reckless since he met you.
"I have nothing to do with him," Conri smirked. He looked at the glass next to me, picked it up, and drank from me. The action went right to my cock, and I bit my lip as I watched him.
"So you say" Zeeb huffed, stood up, and left the table.
"Is the liquor good?" I initiated the conversation.
"Yes" He placed the glass on the table and then ran a finger on the glass rim, slowly while staring at me.
"You do know whatever you are doing is driving me crazy" My eyes blazed at him as his eyes twinkled, and I felt Freki whimper in need.
"I have no idea what you are talking about, "He chuckled.
I picked up the bottle and refilled the glass. He watched my every action. "I love what you did with the interior of this pub. You are talented. I hope we can do more projects together. Please review the plans and let me know what we need to add or change. But I trust your judgment. "I was making conversation.
"Is that what you want to say?" Conri was pushing my buttons.
"I hated that you chased me away from your cabin," I complained.
"You deserved it. "He responded knowing I had pushed him to attack to test his powers.
"I want to spend more time with you, '' I affirmed.
"You just want to fuck," He objected and smirked.
"That too," I laughed awkwardly as our eyes clashed and the air in the room sizzled.
