Chapter 15: Chapter 15

I was doing my shift at the hospital. I could probably replace the Head of the Hospital at this point. He was good, but in certain situations, he was completely useless… no offense. After the attack, a lot of civilians were injured. There were broken bones, deep scratches…. And mostly broken bones.

As for shinobi, many of the critically injured needed surgery for their organs. Falling down the height of… they Kyuubi… was not good for your body. Minor injuries included broken bones and scratches. Some people had head injuries.

Many people were grieving (including me) so dealing with them in the hospital wass… well annoying to say the least. They screamed and kicked and tried to run into an operating room. We had to hire a team of genin and chunin to guard the hospital. Unfortuantely, one of the genin's parents were rushed in and he joined the screaming and kicking families as well.

The makeshift hospital was pretty good. There were a lot of tents. I was given my own. "Rin-sama!" who was calling me sama now?

I opened the flap of my tent as they rushed in with another shinobi. He groaned, holding his leg. It was broken. I sighed, I hated resetting bones. "This is going to hurt…" I muttered, activating the Mystical Palms technique.

My hand glowed green and CRACK! "Ahhhh!" the shinobi screamed.

I sighed and began to mend his bones. They were back in place now. I helped the pain lessen. "A shinobi should know pain…" I said.

My patient glared at me. I gave him a smile and continued to heal him. Then, I grabbed a set of bandages and started wrapping. Half-way through another patient was brought in, this one a civilian. I sighed and tossed the bandage to one of the genin at the door. I recognized her as one of the kids who had been shadowing Tou-san. "Finish wrapping," I ordered and she nodded.

The civilian ws unconscious. I noticed a thin trickle of blood comig out of her head. There was a bump too. I sighed, a piece of a broken building probably fell on her head. It couldn't be too ahrd to heal. First, I helped the swelling go down. Then, I closed the wound and healed some more. There! I don't think she had any brain damage…

I finished my shift a few hour later and decided to go visit Kushina-nee. Her red hair was no longer as gleaming as it was before. She looked so sad, so small, so weak. "Her body needs rest," said a voice behind me.

I spun around and saw the head of the hospital. "Hello."

He ignored my greeting, "She's healed yes, but she can't wake up because her body is too weak right now. You healed her and kept her alive through brute for and some of her Uzumake vitality. Now, she needs to sleep.. Maybe forever."

I nodded, "I just wish that I could some how wake her up."

He nodded, "As do I, but remember, sometimes even the greatest healers can't heal everything. In the end, we are only human."

We stared silence then I broke it and stood up, "Thank you for your wise words, but I'm going to get going."

"Wait!" he called after me and I spun around to pause, "I.. I think you are more fit to be the head of the hospital. We can go to Sandaime and transfer."

I thought about it and shook my head, "No, sorry, but it's your job."

…

The funeral was held a few days later. The sky was dark, threatening to rain. Many people, both civilians and shinobi had passed away. Minato-sensei, Kaa-cha,Tou-san… So many other people lost love ones as well.

We stood in rows, a single white rose in our hands, as Sandaime spoke. "We will rise again, Konoha will rebuild. Today, we honor those that were lost…"

Crowds of sobbing, weeping, and grieving people stood under the dark sky. Iruka had lost his parents, just like in the canon. I had lost mine too and we could relate to each other. We stood next to each other. Kakashi was on my left side. He didn't cry but I could see his expression. Minato-sensei was dead and Kushina-nee was in a coma. It was as good as canon… he was depressed.

We walked up, one at a time and placed our single white roses down, to honor all those who had passed. 'Kaa-chan, Tousan, Minato-sensei.'

…

I spent most of my time at the hospital, doing shifts. The head of hospital continued to ask me to take his job. I refused. That job didn't belong to me. It would be Tsunades one day. That was probably better. I didn't want that responsibility anyways.

"Rin-sama!" said an ANBU. Why was everyone calling me sama? Just cause I was a sage didn't mean I was one honored or seen as a leader… "Hokage-sama requests your presence."

I sighed, "Let me finish first?" I asked. I was bandaging the wound of a younger kid who had accidentally stabbed himself with a kunai while training.

The ANBU nodded and left. "All done," I said to the kid, "Be more careful!" He nodded and ran out the hospital. Kids…

I sighed and teleported to Hokage Tower, right inside his office. "Ack! Rin!" he jumped, startled.

"You called?" I asked.

He nodded. "Rin," he said seriously, "I want you to join ANBU."

"No." I answered immediately.

"I wasn't done yet," he said, "I know you're lazy and you don't want responsibility but Kakashi is a bit depressed. I want you to join his team, specifically. This way you can maybe help him out a bit."

I sighed, "You know me… "

Hokage-sama grinned, "You'll do it?"

I nodded, "Fine, but I still get to work in the hospital."

"Of course! Cat!" an ANBU jumped down from the roof and kneeled in front of Hokage-sama, "Take Rin to her new locker. Rin, this is Cat, they are the head of your team."
