Chapter 1: Reborn as a Fairy King!

I stare into the dark, endless expanse of the void. My thoughts are muddled, as though I had just woken up from a long sleep. I can hear something speaking at the edge of my consciousness, though I cannot understand it.

Then, suddenly, I can understand the words being spoken.

"Welcome, Soul! You have died before your time, and are now presented with the option to reincarnate! After scanning your thoughts, we have come to the conclusion that the world of Nanatsu No Taizai, or, as you know it, Seven Deadly Sins, would be the most preferred reincarnation for you. Due to the fact that you died 60 years before your natural time, you are to be granted 3 wishes! Please state them aloud now."

I thought for a second. Seven Deadly Sins, huh? One of my favorite animanga series, and the one I, personally, hold closest to my heart. I always wanted to go there, and it got me interested in a bunch of things that helped me make a few friends. I came to the conclusion of my wishes, and I thought about how to word them.

"For my First Wish, I wish to be born as the Fairy King, complete with the Magic Power and all. For my Second Wish, I wish to be the reincarnation of the Demon King's Third Son. For my Third and final Wish, I wish to have a system, similar to what the protagonists in a bunch of reincarnation web novels have, that has access to the Internet from my past life."

"Processing wishes… Complete. Beginning reincarnation now."

I felt my consciousness blur, and everything faded away. I woke up a while later, and I was surrounded by nature. I saw a bunch of people surrounding me. They all appeared to be young, possibly prepubescent, and they all had small wings sprouting from their backs. They all seemed to be crying, or laughing, and they were hugging eachother in what appeared to be joy. Looking at my body, I seemed to be a baby, swaddled in an incredibly soft cloth. I couldn't remember who I was.. or who I am.. although I felt something lingering in the back of my mind. I closed my eyes and I felt my tiredness draw me under.

—Timeskip: 65 Years—

Today was the day! Since my birth, I had been conditioned as a candidate to be the Fairy King. And today, I was to be presented to the Sacred Tree, to face it's judgement.

I pulled on my nicest pair of clothes, that being a pair of brown trousers, soft leather boots, and a crème-colored overshirt. I followed the procession, heading for the Sacred Tree in the center of the Fairy King's Forest. When we arrived, the Faires and Spirits made a pathway for me to walk right up to the tree.

I walked slowly, taking my time to collect my thoughts and calm myself down. When I finally arrive at the foot of the Tree, I fall to one knee, my head bowed, and waited. I felt a golden light envelope me. When I looked up, I saw a spear floating in front of me

It was about 7 feet long, and had amber gems studded all along it's length. It was made of a black metal-like material, and it's blade was silver, with markings though the center of the blade. It had no guard. I reached out to take it, and as I did, I felt a connection between it and I, and I thought of a name for it. I decided to name it Gloxinia, after the first Fairy King, whom I idolized for protecting the Forest from Demons. I thought of it's forms. Since I had no use of it right now, I turned it into it's Tenth Configuration. The spear began to morph, turning into a large pile of mottled green tentacles. This excited me, as it was near-identical to the 10th Configuration of Basquias, King Gloxinia's Spear. I flew into the mass, leaving only my head poking out.

I had no need to worry about discomfort, as I hadn't manifested my wings yet, but I'm sure they'd come in soon. Some tentacles lifted me up, and we began to head back to my home. I lived in a small cottage, which was formed through a hollowed out root of the Sacred Tree. I went in, and I left the comfort of the Spear to sleep in my bed. I had no need to worry about my safety, as, while yes, the Holy War was still going on, no demons had attacked the Forest since the reign of the last Fairy King. I fell asleep, and did not wake up until next morning.

When I awoke, I saw a small note hanging from the trapdoor leading to my home. I opened it and read it. It said that I was to meet with the other Kings and Queens to possibly form a peace treaty. How odd. I'm absolutely sure that the Demon clan wouldn't ever accept a treaty. But, oh well. I entered my Spear and began to leave the forest. I had pulled on my nice clothes, and flew from the forest. I headed to the Kingdom where we were supposed to meet, specifically it's capital. I arrived in Camelot two days later, and had to go through it's customs. I was granted entry, and I entered the city. I went immediately to the castle, arriving in my designated room an hour later. I waited there until I was summoned, idly doodling in a notebook I had brought with me. As we went to the meeting area, I spotted other attendants, although the Giant King was nowhere to be seen. I arrived at the round table, waiting for the last few kings to show up. I spotted all of the ambassadors, including from the Demon clan and the Goddess race. Strange, they seemed to not be going for each other's throats. The king finally arrived and bid us to sit.

"As you know, we are assembled here for a peace treaty," the King said, looking at all of us, "I propose we get right to it. The terms are as such. All races and clans gathered today will no longer fight against each other. You are to respect the borders, and will not," He looked pointedly at the ambassador of the Demon clan, a young-looking boy with blonde hair, "Go out of your way to attack any represented here. Does anyone have anything to add to this?"

The Giant King raises his hand, his voice making the room tremble slightly. "Yes. We ask that we no longer be employed as mercenaries to fight battles, especially against each other." Everyone nods. It's quite sensible, after all. I would hate to see my subjects killing each other for pitiful pay.

Slowly, each ambassador adds their own clauses to the treaty, and it finally comes to me. "Have you anything to add to the agreement, Fairy King Estarossa?" The Human King who called the gathering looked at me expectantly. I slowly blinked, taking in what had already been said. "No, I believe that the treaty is to my liking. Let us proceed, please." I played with my hair as they went on. I always liked the silver color, and now it matched my spear. The meeting went on for hours, until they finally decided to revisit this the next day. When I returned to my quarters, I felt something strange behind me, I turned to see the ambassador of the Demon clan, the blonde boy. "'Sup, Estarossa, mind if I come in with ya?" His voice was cheery, as though he was talking to an old friend. "Sure," I said, "Come on in. Would you like me to prepare something, or do you want to make it yourself?" He walks in, his hands behind his head, a grin on his face. As he sat before me, I stared into his dull purple eyes, his smile unnerving me. "Nah. Just thought I'd drop by. Although, I do have a question," he said, his smile vanishing and his face becoming serious, "Do you know who you really are? And no, I'm not talking about how you're the Fairy King or whatever. Do you actually know who you are?" His usually cheerful demeanor changing so quickly unnerved me, a lot. "I'm not quite sure what you mean. I am the Fairy King. What.. what exactly are you implying, Meliodas?" I had no idea what he was talking about. Who does he think I am?

He sighs, his small frame— only a little larger than mine— shrinking as he deflates. He looks at me, and I noticed darkness covering one of his hands. Before I could react, I felt a sharp pain in my chest, and everything faded to black, his face watching me go under, a single tear staining his child-like face, and I wonder who it's for.
