Chapter 13: Date
Mason arrived and walked out of the car. He carried a black card and handed it over to Ray.
" You look great. " Mason said and he meant it.
" Thanks. " Ray fixed his hair and entered into the car. " Head to Empire State University. "
" Right away, sir. " Mason stopped the padel and drove the car.
Ray watched the outside view.
" A date? " Mason asked.
Ray glanced at the mirror and nodded. " It is like that. The house is on fire. "
Mason laughed quietly. " I hope you have a good date."
Ray tapped his finger and asked. " You have a girlfriend? "
" Well, I am seeing someone but hope tomorrow's date makes the deal. "
" Aren't you living fullest? " Ray said with a smile. He was in a good mood.
The car stopped at the university's gate. Ray saw Gwen waiting. She wore a long black coat with a light blue purse hanging on her shoulder. She tied her hair in a ponytail.
Her lips were blood red, making her soft pale cheek stand out. Indeed, she was beautiful. Nearby, students were looking at her.
A few men tried to strike up a conversation with her but she ignored them.
Ray rolled down the window and opened the door. He walked toward Gwen and said. " Did you wait long? "
Gwen shook her head with a smile. " No. Look at you. Wearing nice clothes in a while. "
" What do you mean? I always wear stylish clothes. " Ray said. " So what is the plan? "
" I need to buy books and some tools for my class. You are free, right? I mean, this will take a long time. " Gwen said.
Ray nodded. " I am free for the whole day. Come. "
He guided her to the car and opened the door. "Lady first. " He said.
Gwen laughed. " Where did you get the car? Uber? "
" Something like that. " Ray said and closed the door. He walked to the other side and opened the door.
Suddenly, the force area emerged from the belt and covered his body for a brief second. Then it disappeared.
Ray looked around and nodded in understanding. He set the danger sensor to the fullest. Right now it was shielding him from the passing by car.
Fortunately, only a few noticed shields and he didn't care about them. Under the eyes of surprise, he entered the car.
Gwen was making a phone call so she didn't notice the shield. Ray signalled Mason to go.
" To the mall, right? " Ray asked. His hands on the belt, trying to adjust the shield. He placed the force shield into the bullet-level threat.
" We will shop for the clothes. Then head to the bookstore. We can end the day with a nice cake. "
Ray nodded. He thought about his need. He had clothes.
' I am going to quit school. I will pour all my attention into science. '
Ray thought about modifying his body. But soon after giving a little bit of thought, it was too dangerous.
" Hey. " Ray took Gwen's attention.
She covered her phone and gave a nod.
" I am quitting the school. " He said.
" Why? You got a nice grade. We can hang out together more in the future. "
" It is wasting my time. I already got a job in a respectable organization. They have a future ahead. "
Gwen stayed silent.
The decision he made was quick but he didn't care anymore. He won't be seeing Gwen in the future as well.
Going to the original universe had taken on his mind more and more. He could not stop thinking about his parents. Even though he tried to remain calm, he didn't like this place.
The only one he felt an attachment to was Gwen.
And he felt something bad was happening to his parents.
As Ray thought more about his parents, he got more paranoid. The car stopped.
The day moved on. Mason waited in the parking lot.
Gwen and Ray headed to the shopping centre. They decided to not talk about Ray's school. Now was the time for fun.
They selected the clothes and wore them for fun. Make a clown outfit or a strange one.
They even got scolded by the shop manager but Ray slid a money so the warning stopped
After that, they headed to the bookstore. The old book smell swept across the room. The place was quiet and cosy.
Gwen was selecting her collage books.
As for Ray, he was checking on the novel section.
Now, the final part of the date.
They took a corner seat. Gwen ordered a cupcake and lemon juice.
Ray said. " A milkshake. "
Their bags were placed under the table. The coffee shop was small and not many would arrive due to the expensive foods.
The waiter dropped their food.
Gwen took a bite of her cupcake and cracked a smile.
" Is it good? " Ray asked.
" No sharing. You know the rule. " Gwen covered her cupcake with a hand.
" I know. "
Ray took a straw and mixed the milkshake. His hands quickly moved and took a spoon from Gwen's hand and ate the cake.
" Hey, not fair. " Gwen slapped his hand and took back the spoon.
" Life is fair. You need to get smarter next time. " Ray chuckled.
His eyes were full of joy as he looked at Gwen's pout face. Soon, the joy inside him died. He tried to replace it with his dream.
' Goodbye. ' He said to himself. ' I just hope you don't die. '
He was a selfish man.

Kingpin took over the Tenfingers gang. He betrayed Rigoletto. He then used his information and killed the Tenfingers.
Taking over the gang was easy, the hard part came from installing fear in the men.
He had managed to stabilize the gang but the morale was low. Because of that daredevil.
Kingpin glanced at his wine cup. " I shouldn't blame Daredevil. However, because of him, Tenfingers had gotten weaker. I can take over because of that. "
" Now I need a weapon. "
A card flew in his direction. Kingpin covered his head with his hand. Blood poured out from the wound like every other man.
Kingpin stood up and looked at the man in front of him.
He had heard of him before.
" What do you want? I don't have a job for you. " Kingpin spoke. The wound didn't faze him.
He wished he could kill him but he couldn't. The consequence was huge.
" Tell me about Rigo's weapons. " The man spoke.
Kingpin snorted. " Not for free. "
The man nodded and entered into the light. He wore a mask. There was a target symbol painted in black and white.
He wore this for people to shot at him with better aim.
" I will give you information about the five families. You tell me Rigo's weapon. "
