Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Tiehuo's father
After settling down, Uchiha Natsu observed that Uchiha Yamashiro's complexion was deteriorating.
"Captain Yamashiro, is your injury okay?" Uchiha Natsu inquired, his brow furrowed in concern.
Seated on the chair, Uchiha Yamashiro's expression appeared weak. He shook his head and said, "It doesn't matter; I should be fine after taking a rest." Despite his words, Natsu sensed an underlying determination within himself that he must survive.
With the outbreak of war, the Uchihas were in imminent danger. As a top Uchiha elite, Yamashiro felt the weight of the responsibility to endure and not succumb. His earlier confidence in the power of the Uchiha clan's Sharingan had waned after facing the harsh reality on the battlefield. Relying solely on the ordinary Sharingan proved futile against formidable opponents like Jinchuriki, and such adversaries were abundant on the battlefield.
Observing this, Uchiha Natsu chose silence.
The night passed without words, and when Natsu woke up the next morning, a distressing development awaited. Uchiha Yamashiro could hardly get out of bed, appearing visibly ill. Reacting swiftly, Uchiha Natsu employed medical ninjutsu to probe Yamashiro's chakra.
To his dismay, Natsu discovered a tyrannical chakra rampaging within Uchiha Yamashiro's body. "It should have been left by the five-tailed Jinchuriki yesterday," Natsu deduced. Realizing that this chakra couldn't be eliminated without causing severe harm through brutal cleanup, he turned to action.
"Inahiro, you send Captain Yamashiro back to Konoha, and let the medical team treat him," Natsu commanded. He then addressed Tiehuo, "Tiehuo, you and I will go to the next battlefield in a while."
"Yes."
"Yes."
Uchiha Inahiro and Uchiha Tiehuo responded promptly. Meanwhile, Uchiha Yamashiro struggled, attempting to sit up but eventually lying down powerlessly. With expectant eyes, he gasped and said to Uchiha Natsu:
"I'm sorry I've slowed down the team, Natsu. You are the elite of our Uchiha clan and you must help other clansmen get through this crisis."
In Uchiha Yamashiro's heart, Uchiha Natsu was deemed stronger than himself—an elite among the elites. Uchiha Natsu, acknowledging the unspoken responsibility, simply nodded.
This war presented a significant opportunity for Uchiha Natsu. His mission extended beyond aiding the Uchiha clan and he aimed to contribute to other battlefields by collecting fallen comrades.
Uchiha Yamashiro, relieved by the positive response, still expressed some self-blame. "If I can get rid of this force in my body, I won't be dragging my feet."
"Okay," Uchiha Natsu interrupted Yatsushiro's words with a wave of his hand, addressing Inahiro, "Let's go."
After bidding farewell to the villagers, Uchiha Natsu, accompanied by Tiehuo, swiftly navigated the trees toward the nearest battlefield on the map—a small town, a crucial defense line outside the barrier on the right side of Konoha. The town served as an important stronghold, requiring passage to reach Konoha.
After a day and night of running, Uchiha Natsu arrived at the town the next morning. Despite its smaller size compared to Muye Village, a several-meter-high earthen wall had been erected for defense against invasion.
Uchiha Natsu's shadow clone accompanied by Tiehuo, used Unearth jutsu to pass through the wall from the ground, appearing inside. The sensors on the watchtower immediately discovered Uchiha Natsu and Uchiha Tiehuo, prompting sharp shouts: "Who is it!"
Several Uchiha ninjas, recognizable by their high-necked costumes and Uchiha fans, approached. Uchiha Tiehuo briefed by Natsu on the commanders guarding the stronghold, stepped forward and declared, "Father, it's me!"
A middle-aged man on the wall opened his Sharingan, confirming his son's identity, and communicated a few words to those around him. With the vigilance relaxed, Uchiha Natsu's shadow clone and Uchiha Tiehuo successfully entered the town.
Uchiha Tiehuo's father, Uchiha Asgari, approximately forty years old, and his uncle, the other Jonin, awaited them. Uchiha Asgari was delighted at seeing his son and learned from Tiehuo that their mission had been accomplished, thanks to Senior Natsu. However, Captain Yamashiro had been seriously injured and sent back to Konoha by Brother Inahiro.
Frowning, Uchiha Asgari looked at Uchiha Natsu and said in a deep voice: "Tiehuo, why didn't you let him deliver it? Now that the battle is tense, Inahiro Jonin is an indispensable combat force. Don't you know this?"
Taken aback, Uchiha Tiehuo glanced at Natsu Uchiha cautiously and then hurriedly retorted: "Senior Natsu is the strongest in our team. Even the Five-Tails Jinchuriki was defeated by Senior Natsu alone. The three of us can't beat it at all!"
If it were before Uchiha Natsu defeated Han, Uchiha Tiehuo would never have uttered such words. Now, acknowledging the gap between himself and Uchiha Natsu, he admitted his "uselessness." However, Uchiha Asgari's face turned cold.
He stepped forward and raised his hand, wanting to slap Uchiha Tiehuo. But considering it's wartime and Tiehuo is a Jonin, he refrained, saying coldly: "How dare you disgrace the 8th Generation Captain?"
Uchiha Yatsushiro is the elite Jonin of the Uchiha clan, second only to patriarch Fugaku and the recently rising super genius Shisui in strength. In Asgari's view, comparing a supposed waste like Natsu Uchiha with Yatsushiro is an insult to Yatsushiro. Moreover, Tiehuo's words implied that Uchiha Natsu was stronger than Yatsushiro, a notion Asgari considered pure fantasy. For more than ten years, Uchiha Natsu, an eighteen-year-old medical Chunin, was considered a good-for-nothing, a shame to the Uchiha clan.
Uchiha Tiehuo, overwhelmed by his father's aura, still mustered the courage to speak. However, Uchiha Asgari waved his hand impatiently, saying, "Come Tiehuo stay here. Since Natsu knows medical ninjutsu, he will serve as a medical ninja on Itachi's team."
Natsu Uchiha shifted his gaze to the right and confirmed the presence of the small figure of Itachi Uchiha in the distance.
The decision to utilize Natsu's medical ninjutsu on Itachi's team seemed to appease Asgari, although his disapproval lingered.
