Chapter 11: chapter 11: Everything was a mistake from the beginning.
Sabrina who was watching kpop idols felt annoyed by the sudden knock on the door especially when black pink and BTS were performing her favorite songs. Reaching on the door and opening it,she saw someone she least wanted to do anything in her life. Stephanie! He was dressed in a navy blue shirt with blank pants. His eyes sharp as ever though his handsomeness was beginning to fade with time. Especially the messy hair that had grown to his shoulder indicating he wasn't living a good life he wanted in the beginning. With shopping bags in his hands,he tried to give them to Sabrina who starred at him with a blank gaze without love that was once seen in her watery eyes .
" Sabrina can we please talk." He asked for permission. Closing the door behind her,she took him behind the huge verandah. Seated ,the longish silence almost killed Stephanie who didn't consider the reaction of Sabrina at the sight of him. Clearing her throat, Sabrina looked at Stephanie with either hatred or love. " Stephanie what brings you here,and who gave you my address?" . Sabrina questioned Stephanie without giving him the opportunity to reply any of her questions. " I know that I wronged you with my behavior, though I did mistakes,I hope to be given a chance to start a fresh and have a complete family." Stephanie said in a soft voice making Sabrina to surpress her chuckle from escaping her mouth. " You know what, regret is the only illness in this world that has no treatment or medicine,if you had come to request such an absurd thing those years back when I was still struggling for my children maybe I would have agreed but right now it's not possible because the children are grown up." Sabrina said with a mocking voice. Stephanie couldn't refute anything she said. " Apart from being a sperm donor, what else did you do in providing for your family?,not even a single penny was spent on those two children's education let alone outfits or food,is there a need for such father to be introduced in their lives." Sabrina bombed Stephanie with a series of questions as if asking the weather forecast. Stephanie gazed at the ground under his feet because all the questions she asked were right and yet he didn't have the answer nor an excuse to use as the bargaining chip at the moment.
Though he was the father in name,he didn't do his responsibility as a dad should have done. But when the temptress arrived,he jumped to the wagon forgetting his responsibility as a man . Slamming on the ground he starred blankly, finally gathering the courage he went in his car without looking behind. Upon entering the house, Annabelle and Lolita were busy with their own thing. " Mom, who was that because you didn't allow the guest to even enter the house?" Annabelle asked her mother without batting an eye to see if there's an fluctuation in her emotions but Sabrina showed a calm face. " The guest was an old friend of mine." Sabrina said convincing Annabelle. Since it the sun was fading, Annabelle decided to say goodbye to her mom and sister who wanted her to stay but she decisively refused because tomorrow was gonna be a super busy day at work. Through the traffic, Stephanie was lost in thought of how he couldn't even get a glimpse of his daughter's who had grown up without a father figure. " it seems everything was a mistake from the beginning,if I could turn back in time maybe I would have behaved differently ". Stephanie thought in his mind but the horns of cars brought him back from his reverie. Driving away he returned to his apartment like a zombie.
" Mr Jacob,the results for the dance competition are out, would you mind attending the ceremony because many celebrities will be attending." The assistant asked with a curious gaze. Jacob shifted his gaze from the laptop. " Just check my schedule on that day,and please inform Joshua it will be great if we attend together." Jacob told his assistant before continuing with his work. Dialling Joshua's number,the assistant called right away but the noise at the other end made it impossible to communicate. Sighing,he just hung up deciding to call later.
At club monalisa.
" Hey, who was that calling dude?" Guys in the booth asked Joshua who was sipping his wine. The different lights in the club illuminated the face of Joshua with his hair dropping on one side ,the wine made his lips turn a shade of red making near by girls to envy his sexy lips. " it's no one serious,just enjoy the party see you another day." Joshua replied sullenly before picking his jacket and leaving the noisy club. Reaching outside he suddenly saw a figure having the body structure like Angella who used to be the news anchor in their class. He tried to get a glimpse but it was too late because the figure suddenly vanished like it his own mind playing games with him. Feeling frustrated he decided to go back home before he lost it.
Annabelle who had just returned back, received a notification from the judges that the ceremony for awarding the winner of the dance competition. Sighing heavily,she removed her shoes strolling towards the bedroom to prepare for the next day. " I wish I could be one of the winners because it's my last hope to turn the tables in my life." Annabelle thought in her mind. In actual sense, poverty is the root cause of everything. No one can befriend you when you don't have money. She decided to scroll through her TikTok account and see the views their video had gained. But upon checking she was disappointed because few people out of millions on the platform had viewed the video meaning they had a long way to go before establishing their own brand on the platform. If there's life, there's hope because even those great leaders started from somewhere. As she was dozing off,her phone buzzed with a message from Joshua. " Annabelle aren't you curious about the winners of the dance competition?". Joshua asked with a curious emoji. " Iam, but it's best I get to watch it live than getting it from someone else". Annabelle replied with a serious emoji. " haha,you girl you're a killer joy." Joshua replied with a sad face. " By the way Joshua,any news from Angella because she went to UK to further her studies." Annabelle asked curiously. Taking deep breaths, Joshua replied with a casual remark . After chit chatting, they both went offline. Annabelle thought that love was really a dangerous game, because it can change someone into a totally different person. Take Joshua for example behind his facade of a play boy,he was a gentleman towards Angella. No one even had the opportunity to know what happened to these people. But after high school,the distance between them changed everything. " oh God! I hope that when it's my turn to fall in love,I use my head more than the heart because I can't bear the repercussions and first of all it would be wise if I build my career and take care of mom and Lolita. Finally sleeping soundly, Annabelle joined those already in Dreamland.
The next day,it wasn't until the birds chirping outside did Annabelle woke up groggily to take a bath and go to the Vine tea restaurant where priccy and her got the job of being waitresses. After a quick bath,she dressed in a black high waisted skirt and white blouse. Tying her hair into a bun,she applied lip balm on her lips before running out of the house like a mad woman. The morning hours are always considered rush hours. Most drivers drive recklessly because of the jam,and if you're not lucky enough you might just get into an accident. As stepped out of the taxi, she met priccy who didn't come back home but spent the night at Amir's apartment.
"Good morning bestie,am sorry to ditch you yesterday." Priccy said with a pout. " Haa, how can you care about this big sister of yours after getting yourself a hottie." Annabelle replied with a teasing gaze. Entering the lobby,they went to start the day as usual. " girls am excited about the winners of the dance competition, the way the participants danced, left me with wow!" Other waitresses started gossiping early in the morning without shame of being caught by their superior. Annabelle just let them be and minded her own business. Cleaning the tables, two couples arrived, seeing them she went to receive their orders. " Good morning, welcome to Vine tea restaurant.". " Good morning too." The couples chorused together. " Can I please have your orders." Handing them the menu,she received their orders and skated to the kitchen. " How can a girl with such a figure just be a waitress?this world is full of surprises ." The couple on the front table discussed before Annabelle returned. All this sounded like a joke but nothing is impossible in this world.
