Chapter 2: Wedding gift
Chen Xu could not sit still anymore, she detangled her hand from Jiang Lei's and walked up, "What are you doing, you are only creating a scene!"
Chen Xu's mother, Xia Fei also walked up to the podium and shouted, "You stupid child! What are you up to?"
Xia Fei hated Chen Mumu to the core.
Chen Mumu was the mistress's child but when she was young, Xia Fei's husband, Chen Murong, brought her back to the Chen Family to stay with them. This did not sit too well with Xia Fei who had been heartbroken by her husband's cheating.
She could not do anything to Chen Murong so all of her hatred was poured on Chen Mumu and she treated her so badly. Chen Mumu was always given less food and even her room looked like a store room.
She also did all the chores in the house without any pity from both mother and daughter.
Xia Fei acted innocent in front of Chen Murong and treated Chen Mumu well but when he left, things would go back to normal.
Remembering that time almost made Hua Jing tear up.
The USB drive she held in her hand was her only card left to finally leave the toxic family for good.
Jiang Lei had left her and her mother was still fighting for her life in the hospital so she had nothing to lose.
She inserted the USB and ignored Chen Xu and Xia Fei's pleas. They had not treated her very well so why should she show pity for them?
She then took the microphone once more, "I am sorry I did not introduce myself earlier. I am Chen Mumu and Chen Xu is my sister. You have probably never heard of me but I am here now and I have prepared something for my sister on her big day and I hope all of you will enjoy it!"
She smiled eerily.
The crowd was silent. No one dared to say a word as they were waiting for the meticulous gift that had been prepared. Some people looked excited while others did not have any reactions as they waited.
The screen highlighting the love story between Jiang Lei suddenly went dark and then lit up suddenly with very cute baby pictures of Chen Xu. She looked so adorable because Xia Fei loved to play dress up with her.
One of the people in the crowd commented after seeing that photo, "Oh my God, Chen Xu looked so cute when she was still a child!"
The one beside her nodded in agreement, "I know, right!"
The montage kept playing and showed pictures through Chen Xu's stages of life.
Chen Xu watched the video and heaved a sigh of relief but she could not stop the feeling that something bad was going to happen. She held onto Jiang Lei's hand tightly scared that he might leave.
Jiang Lei on the other hand watched the photos with a fond face. He turned and looked at Chen Mumu, "My wife looked so cute, I almost want to go back and meet you sooner so that no other man could lay their eyes on you!"
Chen Xu smiled bashfully and her lashes trembled. Jiang Lei felt his body heating up from seeing her expression but they were in front of people so he reined himself.
The video also came to an end and the crowd erupted in cheers for the thoughtful gift. Chen Xu also completely calmed down now.
Some of Chen Xu's friends were tearing up. One of them wiped tears as she said, "I cannot believe Chen Xu has grown this much, seeing her pictures made me so tearful, her sister is the best! I would also want such a gift on my wedding day!"
The other friend did not look too pleased, "This is the first time I am getting to know that Chen Xu had a sister! Why did you think she hid this from us?"
The other shrugged, "Maybe she was abroad, who knows?"
The questions hung in the back of many people's minds but there was no one to give a clear explanation!
Xia Fei smiled nervously. She watched as Chen Mumu went over, took the USB out and walked towards Chen Xu and Jiang Lei.
She smiled softly and then said on the microphone, "Chen Xu, congratulations on your marriage!"
Chen Xu did not like Chen Mumu but she had to act as she did so she bent down and said a small 'thank you'
Jiang Lei also looked at Chen Mumu, "Mumu, thank you for being so accepting and even coming out tonight. I am sorry I misjudged your intentions earlier!"
Chen Mumu smiled, "There is no need, I am very happy too!"
She was going to seek revenge very soon and she was also going to wipe those stupid smiles off these people's faces!
She put the microphone down and walked away slowly but just as she had taken the first step, the back screen lit up and gasps could be heard from the crowd.
Chen Mumu turned around and looked at Chen Xu and Jiang Lei who had the same shocked expressions.
One person from the crowd said quite loudly, "Oh my God!"
Chen Mumu looked up and on the screen was an explicit photo of Chen Mumu in bed with a man that was not Jiang Lei!
Jiang Lei took one look and turned towards Chen Xu, "Chen Xu, what is the meaning of this?"
Chen Xu had a mixture of shock, disbelief and anger playing funnily on her face. Her eyes were red and she suddenly shouted, "Turn that off! Turn that off!"
She was getting hysterical.
Xia Fei walked up and shook the technical director, "Are you stupid or what? Turn that off, quick!"
The technical director was mad after being yelled at but he had already been paid. What was surprising was that after he went to turn the thing off, it would not follow his orders no matter how many times he tried.
He looked at Xia Fei, "It is not turning off!"
The video playing was quite long and there was even a recording.
The man on the recording suddenly asked, "Chen Xu, between me and Jiang Lei, who does it better?"
