Chapter 5: Meet Her

After Amanda and William reported their mission to their boss, he congratulated them and gave them a 3-day leave to rest after a long and tiring mission.

After getting the leave, William invited Amanda to go on a vacation together somewhere. However, Amanda turned him down saying that she had other plans for her vacation later.

"Really? Where are you going?"

"Well... Somewhere I can't tell you. It's only a woman who can know."

"Is there such a place?" asked William in surprise as he approached Amanda and grabbed her shoulders. "Don't you want to take a vacation with your partner?"

The woman was silent for a moment, this was indeed a chance for her to be alone with William. But the more she did, the harder it would be for her to leave him. Amanda slowly removed William's hand from her shoulder.

"No, I don't want to. I'm tired of seeing that face of yours. I also need a vacation for myself. Me time!" she replied.

Hearing that, William could only let out a long breath and then patted Amanda's shoulder. "Alright... See you in three days." he said and walked away.

Amanda looked back, watching William's back as he walked away among the other agents who were passing by the headquarters. It was a difficult decision to make, but she had made up her mind.

"Sorry Willy. I think this will be the last mission for both of us. Because after this... There will be no more of us in it."

******

Two days passed, Amanda spent her time at home tidying up some of her belongings. She threw away things she no longer used and kept things she still needed.

"It turned out that there was quite a lot to throw away. Why did I buy all this stuff back then?"

Ting tong

While she was busy tidying up, someone suddenly rang her doorbell. Amanda immediately walked to the front door to see who had come to her house. When she was about to check it through the door bell camera, the camera was covered by something that made her unable to see who was outside.

Knock knock

The sound of the bell turned into a loud knock on the door, making Amanda become alert. Someone at the door had deliberately covered the doorbell camera so as not to be seen from the inside.

'Who is outside?' She thought cautiously.

The knocking on the door continued, forcing Amanda to open the door in a ready position to attack.

Sure enough, when the door opened a black bag suddenly flew towards her. Amanda immediately threw the bag away so as not to block her view. From behind the door, a woman immediately attacked Amanda with a kick, luckily Amanda managed to parry the kick and then attacked back.

There was a short fight between the two of them, until when Amanda was about to hit the woman's head, her leg was caught unceremoniously.

"Wow... I admit your moves are getting better and better," said the woman wearing the black hat.

Recognizing the voice, Amanda lowered her foot and let out a long breath.

"Don't show up suddenly like that, you surprised me."

The woman in the hat laughed softly and took off her hat. Her long brown hair was down and she had blue eyes just like Amanda's. Both had the same features, except that the woman's hair was long and straight, unlike Amanda's wavy hair.

"I surprised you? Oh sorry about that... I did intend to surprise you."

"By trying to attack me like before?" asked Amanda as she folded her arms in front of her chest.

"Ahahaha... Come on, Amanda. Don't you miss your sister?" the woman approached Amanda and hugged her.

Amanda laughed softly and returned the hug of the woman who was none other than her younger sister. It had been almost two years since the two of them had met because of their respective jobs.

"I miss you so much."

"So did I, Kylie. Come on in. Do you want some juice? I have orange juice in my fridge." Amanda said, releasing her hug and closing the door.

"Of course I want something cold. So... You've been busy," asked Kaylie when she saw a large pile of plastic trash.

Her sister explained that she was indeed throwing away some unnecessary items. She opened the fridge and poured orange juice into a glass while asking how Kylie's life was going.

"Everything is good, I feel happy with my life right now..." Kylie replied sitting on the sofa.

"What about mom and dad? Are they okay? Have you been home lately?" Amanda asked again.

"I came home three months ago. Mom and Dad are fine, so is Ace, you didn't forget our little brother, did you?"

They were three siblings, Amanda the first in the Sanchess family, Kylie the second, then their younger brother Ace. The distance between Amanda and Kylie was only two years.

Hearing that, Amanda felt so relieved. It had been almost five years since she had returned home, her risky job making her worried about seeing her family. She was afraid they would be subjected to the risks of her job.

"Mom and dad miss you so much. They can only hear your voice when you call them, which is rarely. When are you coming home?"

"Hufft... You know I can't just go home, right? Just like you. I don't want mom and dad, not even Ace to become their target. Our job is too risky..." Amanda explained, placing the orange juice on the table.

"You're right. But that doesn't mean it's an excuse for you to rarely contact them, does it?"

"My work is so busy, I rarely go to the pay phone to update them. But I promise I'll get back to them soon."

Kylie could only sigh at her sister's words. The two of them talked about a number of things, their jobs and everything.

Unlike Amanda, Kylie worked as a special team that dealt with international criminals. She chased fugitives from one country to another, so she rarely stayed in one place. Amanda, on the other hand, joined a secret agency that was just as dangerous.

"So... How is your relationship with William? Did you two end up dating?" Kylie asked.

"You know that's highly impposible, don't you? Willy has never discussed anything like that until now. I think he just loves his job,"

"You're stupid. Even so you still have feelings for him, don't you? Never mind, Amanda. Men like him won't make you happy. Just stay away from him!"

Amanda could only smile, she had tried various ways to keep her distance from William. Even dismissed her feelings for him, but William always managed to make her defenses crumble in no time.

"I don't know how else to avoid him. I intend to change my partner. It's currently being taken care of by my superiors."

"If that's the case, you'll still meet at the headquarters..." Kylie replied. "Oh... How about you just get into my job? I'm sure with your skills, you can get in easily," she continued.

"Don't make it up. I can't just leave my organization for no good reason. Especially to get into your job. This is the best way for me to get away from him."

Kylie could see the pain her sister was keeping to herself. Years of unrequited love were painful. Plus Amanda had nowhere for her to share her feelings at the moment. Kylie wasn't always around Amanda and her parents were far away.

"Amanda..." She called.

"Hmn, what's wrong Kylie?"

The woman pulled Amanda up from the sofa by the hand. "Let's clean up your trash. They're an eyesore," she said changing the subject.

"Ahahah... Okay, okay. Help me carry the trash out."

"Understood!"

They both picked up the plastic trash and carried it to the trash can outside. Kylie hoped that during the few days that she was at Amanda's place, Amanda would open up to her so that the baggage she was holding onto could be released.
