Chapter 2: Chapter 2 (Matt’s idea)
C'mon man, it's not that hard. Matt said in between series of laughters. Luke carefully took his time to explain everything to his best friend about what transpired between him and his dad, and the call he made through to his mum. Matt saw how frustrated he was and decided to tease him about it, knowing fully well how enraged Luke will be.
I'm sorry but please allow me laugh some more, Matt begged with tears almost running down his cheeks. The situation sounded very funny, and the distress in Luke's face made it more hilarious. But honestly man, you should dress me up and take me to daddy, Matt teased Luke once again, bursting into laughter.
Are you helping me or not? Luke asked in distress, as he was already feeling too uncomfortable at the way Matt was making fun of him and the whole situation. This is my life we're talking about here man! I'm serious and you should be too.
Okay! Fine! Stop shouting. Let me think of something, Matt said, still trying to hide his laughter.
Let's start from exes, Matt suggested, looking at Luke, and trying to keep a serious look on his face until he bursted into another round of laughter. I totally forgot the last girl that liked you was when we were in high school. Man! You need to do better, Matt said again laughing at Luke who just looked disappointed already. Rubbing his jaws, Luke stood up and was ready to leave.
Leaving so soon? Matt asked, knowing fully well his Friend was angry already. Okay I'm sorry man, I just found the whole situation funny that's all. Don't take it to heart, just sit down and let's think of something together, Matt said to cajole Luke. You're not sorry! I'm certain you'd still laugh in the next 2minutes, and I didn't drive all the way down to your house to be teased and laughed at. You're supposed to be my best friend man! We've gone through things together and now you're giving off this energy, really! Luke said, swelling in anger. This is my life we're talking about here he continued, and I have till the end of this month. So it's either you rack up a solution with that big smart head of yours, or you just leave me be Luke said with a tone of finality.
Matt looked at him in shock. He knew the whole situation bothered Luke, but he didn't think it bothered him this much. He pulled Luke into a hug and whispered in his ears "we've got this buddy". Patting his back, Luke went back to sit and watched Matt as he go bring him a glass of his favorite wine. Thanks man! Luke said taking the glass from Matt.
Now let's think of how my man here will get married and become the CEO. Matt said with a grin on his face, as Luke smiled nodding his head.
How about we tell your father that you already have someone, and she's in the states, and you already promised her you'll let her focus on her business, and you both planned to get married next year. Matt said, clicking his thumbs like a genius. Sounds really great man! I knew you'd figure something out. This is awesome, Luke said, with glee on his face. I can't wait to get home man, thank you! I knew I could count on you.
**Later that day at the Reeds mansion**
Luke: (smiling)… welcome dad.. how did your day get at the office?
Barry: same ol same ol. I was told you didn't come to the company today. Are you giving up your CEO title already? (Barry asked sarcastically with a smile on his face)
Luke: smiling, no dad. I had to attend a few meetings with our clients. And remember that auction deal with the Russians, they finally yielded dad.
Barry: (feeling excited) oh son! I knew you'd bring the contract home for us. I'm so proud of you. I know the company will be in safe hands with you, but not until you do what's expected of you.
Luke: talking about expectations dad, you know I promised to bring her home, but she's in the states and before now, I had promised I'll let her focus on her business for now, so we can get married next year. So you see; I also want to get married, and give you grand babies. But at the same time I need to respect my wife to be's decision.
Barry: Uhmm I totally understand where you're coming from, but you know what? Bring her home, I'm certain that once I see her and explain what's at stake to her, she wouldn't want to be an obstacle to your title. Besides she can always open a branch of her business here, or better still move it here. After all this is going to be her home too, and you can't run the company from another state. So let me know when you'll be bringing her. Once again, I'm so proud of you son, and I love how things are falling in place. I need to go out now. Tell the servants that I might be bringing someone home, so they can prepare something for two. This old man needs some action tonight. (Barry said standing up, and winking at his son)
I'm sure you can relate he added.
Luke: ye.. ye.. yes dad. I'll let you know when she's coming.
And one more thing dad, can you and your "someone " not scream the house down today? We all don't have to know about what's going down in your room do we? (Luke asked, giving a sinister smile)
Barry: oh! Shut up, (Barry said smiling). It's not my fault that this man is good ( he continues as he points to himself). I'm not promising, but I'll try. Besides just get married already and stop giving me all these lectures, and we'll see who's screaming the house down.
Luke: Eww dad. Please I'm not having this conversation with you anymore. Enjoy your evening. (Luke left for his room with a smile on his face)
He called Matt immediately he got to his room, to tell him how their plans backfired and to know their next move. Matt promised to drive down as quick as possible, and Luke we to to convey his dad's message to the servants.
Thanks for coming so quickly man! Like said hugging Matt. Honestly I don't know what to say or think he added. Just tell me how the whole conversation went, if possible word for word Matt told Luke, and he listened as Luke explained the whole conversation with his father.
Got it! I got it! I have a plan! Matt said jumping on Luke.
The way Matt and Luke were always close, right from childhood, one would have thought they had feelings for each other. They were always hugging and jumping on each other. Growing up, Luke showed no interest in girls, and the only girl that summoned courage to talk to ask him out in high school, Luke rejected her. Matt on the other hand was only interested in sleeping with women and nothing more. One would think he was in love with Luke.
Out with it already man! Just tell me what's the plan you've got? Luke asked. Just smile man! I told you I've got this, you need to believe me. The solution is right here.
Ever heard of contract marriage? Matt said, leaving Luke confused. What the fuck are you talking about man! Contract marriage? What the hell is that? Luke asked again.
Just relax man! Sit down and I'll explain in details Matt said.
Now, all we need is a woman, we talk to her about it, she agrees, we pay her a certain amount that is enough to change her life, you both get married, and after a year you file for divorce. That way you'd already be the CEO, she gets paid, and your father's criteria would be met. It's a win-win situation. Voila! Matt said with a big grin on his face.
This sounds great man! Luke jumped in excitement, but what if she doesn't want to get divorced? He asked. That's why we're signing a contract Matt answered. And a breach in the contract, will land her in jail . Matt added.
This is amazing man! I knew I could count on you. Now which woman are we dragging into this? Luke asked again, besides it's must be someone from the states, or far away from here. I don't want my father to have a slight suspicion about this whole charade we'lol be putting up.
How about we look into dating sites, we create fake profiles and when we finally find someone, we tell her about the plan. That way we'll have more than enough women to pick from, and we can even filter and specify on the area or state we went. Matt added.
I love you man, Luke said hugging Matt. I owe you one. I'm certain this will work. I have a good feeling about this already.
