Chapter 38: The Fourth Explosion
A fourth explosion thunderously resounded within the whole city, this time far more powerful than the third previous ones.
Windows violently broke because of the shockwave, as powerful gusts of wind instantly lifted gigantic clouds of dust everywhere around Celia.
Both of the monster and Aurora had stopped moving, their eyes now looking at the titan of smoke elevating a hundred of meters away. Its black and shapeless form, at least twice the size of the others clouds of smoke, quickly covered the sky and sun, strange black and burning particles then falling from the living hell.
"What the..."
Firmly holding her broken arm, which continuously sent her waves of pain ; Celia kept looking at the sky, her orange gaze widening in horror as another gust of wind slightly pushed her back.
Suddenly, a dreadful scream furiously reached the girl's ears, instantly placing her hands over her ears, where a thin strain of blood appeared.
"Guh !!!"
The ground itself shook because of how powerful the scream was, the small and black rocks already severed from the ground convulsing so quickly, that their forms couldn't even be distinguished.
Surrounded by dust blinding her, deafened by the sudden and horrific scream, and one of her arm severely injured... Celia miserably fell on the ground, one of her knee unexpectedly landing onto it as she coughed a few more times.
'Why... Why is everything suddenly exploding ??'
A few dozens of minutes before, both of her and Asaki quietly talked within the church, as the sun brightly shined above their head...
And now...
"Who are these bastards.... Who... Who keep exploding things near us..."
As wrath and despair completely filled the woman's heart, dozens of thoughts crossed her mind, reflecting into her empty eyes.
And yet...
She didn't care about how these guys managed to create so many explosions within so less time...
Why were they exploding everything ? She still didn't care...
What was getting exploded ? She also didn't care...
Even who they could possibly be, in the end... She didn't care...
Wrath filled the two suns, burning with fury and concentration, as the smaller growls echoed once again around her.
"Go to hell..."
They all didn't care at the moment...
"Stop it..."
Because right now, only one single thing really cared for the Aurora. One person, who inherited of all the fear and attention of Celia since she successfully saved him...
"... STOP THOSE EXPLOSIONS !!"
Why ?? Why did those creatures and others kept trying to kill everyone ?! Why continuing to kill, before her eyes, but then stopping her from saving those who truly deserved it ??? Why always making sure that she survive, she, who doesn't deserve it ??
Even more creatures were about to come, they were about to come, to kill her and Asaki, kill Asaki ! It couldn't...
He needed to survive ! He couldn't die, and Celia knew what she needed to do... Standing up, dressing against those creatures, even sacrificing herself if this was what she needed to do !!
After all... She already died here, during this apocalypse, she already died ! She had betrayed everyone; ran away as an Aurora, killing the little honor that remained to her...
She wasn't worthy of surviving... Even after she met Asaki, she kept getting helped by him, and never helped him back, never ! She wasn't even meant to survive in the first place, and so sacrificed everyone while fleeing away ! She...
She survived...
The two pairs of oranges eyes behind Celia, slowly approaching Asaki, kept sparking shiner and shiner each steps their bodies took ; As another wave of pain coming from the Aurora's broken arm almost made her throw up.
"Aaah... H...Here !!"
Suddenly yelled the young woman, over and over, with all the strength she had left. She screamed, desperately trying to attract the monsters away from Asaki, and being instead the bait.
"COME HERE !!!"
The girl violently coughed, miserably trying to get up and reach the orange eyes approaching Asaki, not even bothering with the monster which had faced her seconds ago.
"Here..."
As her legs kept trembling of pain and fear, Celia got up, hardly running to the young man's corpse as furious steps suddenly echoed behind her.
"HERE...."
Yet, the two orange eyes didn't even bother looking at her, the creature's form finally merging from the smoke as Celia kept furiously yelling at them.
A white wolf, around two meters tall, although it was walking using its four limbs, excitedly shook its two giant wings as it approached Asaki with a wide grin.
Soon, the other followed it, also possessing those strange wings alike that of some insects, as orange as their two eyes were.
"Stop !!! Come h... AAAHH-"
Behind Celia, suddenly jumped the third one, hardly landing on her as multiple claws partially pierced her back, howling with wrath and violence.
Harshly laying on the ground, the girl also screamed, but because of the pain, as with her only useful arm she kept trying to crawl to Asaki, and the two others wolves.
"NOOO !!!"
This couldn't be true... This wasn't true... She had just killed the Minotaur, so why was she so weak ?!! Why so much energy lacked within her body ?? Why Lords tried to kill them once again ??
This was unfair... Just unfair !
Violently fighting back with her only arm as she turned to lay on her back, Celia kept screaming at the wolf above her, whose fangs and claws dangerously tried to kill her.
"Aaah... Aaah... Aaah..."
She punched, kicked, even bit... From far, anyone would've mistaken this for a fight between two creatures, and not a survivor desperately getting killed by a giant wolf.
'Die !! Die, die, die, die, die !! Asaki won't... He won't die !!! I'll protect him... protect him... No matter the...'
Behind her, suddenly echoed savage growls, as the noise of ground getting rubbed and limbs violently moving reached Celia's ears, whose eyes widened once she started to hear flesh and blood being torn apart.
"N-NOOOOOO !!"
She fought even more brutally, screaming and crying, as both of her and the wolf kept missing killing the other dozens of times.
Celia kept sobbing, roughly sobbing and yelling like an animal, as the trues ones kept furiously growling at them, blood and screams of pain completely filling the street.
'The sky...'
Above their head, only dressed darkness, orange sparks recalling that of hell itself sometimes shining through the infinite smoke, covering the world by darkness.
After multiples trikes, bites, kicks, punches, yells and tears... The wolf finally reached Celia's head, instantly stunning her because of the hard surface covering its bottom.
A growl of victory recovered the fatal silence which had installed since a few seconds, as the wolf's maw promptly plunged to the girl's neck to finish her off, unconsciously sobbing of pain.
"UGH-"
Closing her eyes, Celia felt the sharp and solid surface wrapping around her neck, pain and fear surging so brutally within her body that everything suddenly stopped working, the only sensation left being... Trembling.
But...
Death never came.
Instead, a warm and wet sensation suddenly added to the absolute void surrounding her, as an immense weight crushed the girl's body.
"Aaah... Aaah..."
Slowly reopening her eyes, hardly sparking with the rest of life it had left, as Celia's heart was slowly stopping to pound, a purple color abruptly filled her sight.
Between the wolf's two eyes, strangely shining a fresh purple color, that of amethyst crystals hung to a pristine form...
Muddied by blood, still flowing upon it, dressing a pristine white handle...
Which blade was deeply encrusted within the creature's skull, straight dead.
