Chapter 7: where does the time go?

~ Five year timeskip ~

Starting from when the professor left our house, I was finally able to learn about where I live it isn't a big house but also isn't small. We have a two story house with a balcony. We live just outside New York City, a little past Queens on the Eastside. A modest five bedroom and one bath and one more in the master bedroom. Good sized kitchen with marble countertops and a gas stove. It is good for a family of four, that's right.

I'm a big brother now! Around the time I was three, my parents asked if I wanted a little sibling. As I had only been the younger brother in my past life, I immediately said yes! And when I was four, I got a little baby brother. Needless to say, I was really excited to have one. He is one right now and learning to walk, and I'm pretty sure my parents now know I was pretty out of the ordinary baby, considering as I only cried for food or a change. His name is Jeremy Adler

These last five years have been pretty mellow. Besides, you know learning to be a functioning human cause oh boy was that so inconvenient and problematic. I have devoloped well enough, though. I was crawling by a couple of months, and talking by six months, I showed I could read at 8 months.

Of cause I didn't whip out a college research paper and start deciphering it. I grabbed a kids' book and started reading for my parents to prank them. You should have seen their faces. It was so good, I start laughing just remembering it. I told them I wanted to read to them, so I learned how. Hehe, one of my more successful pranks on them, of course they don't always go to plan.

One time, when I was 3 before, my little brother was just thought about. I don't really know. I felt really cooped up and crowded in my room. Originally, they had a boring toddler bed, which they said were going to change after a while. I was not having any of that, we could do it now so I told them I didn't like my room and wanted to get a bigger bed, and here is the best part they said yes and let me choose stuff to put in the cart. Since I'm still a little kid, I decided to get the best bed known to mankind. If you just thought of a racecar bed, you are cool, and we should be friends.

Though when it came, my dad said he would help set it up tomorrow. That wasn't doing to slide, so I wanted to prank them by building it all byself, and I would have gotten away with it if my mom hadn't walked in on me. I was just putting on the last last screw and seeing a drilling in a three years old hands, she rightly freaked out. Which is on me. I should have just used the screw driver, even if it was harder. Needless to say, my prank to rearrange my room and act like nothing changed did not work out.

Walking was a little difficult for some reason. I think my smaller legs and weaker muscles stopped me from walking sooner than I would have liked, so I started walking around ten months. From there, I shot off in being able to move around.

A couple of other things happened like a couple of regular family friends. Like the Hardy's, that's right. My childhood friend is Felicia Hardy. I don't really see her as anything other than a sister, though. Kinda hard to feel anything other when I see how spoiled she is by her mom and dad. Along with when you are still wetting the bed at 5 years old, and when your dad employs their dad to steal stuff from bad people who are doing things under the rug and whatnot. I could hear them talk about it in the study where he discusses business. Heightened Senses for the win!

My heightened senses skill is way more encompassing than just the regular 5 senses. Turns out humans have so many more than just the big 5. I studied it a bit, and apparently, it is debated, but there are 9 confirmed, but like over fifty different senses that are unconfirmed in the scientific community. My skill heightens them all, which can be a bit overwhelming.

Anyway, I'm five now, and I'm going to start going to school soon. I'm not excited, considering I have learned up to college graduate in engineering in my past life. But I still reviewed from elementary to the high school level just to make sure that everything checks out in this universe.

My parents know that I'm not normal, but they don't mind. My baby brother doesn't have any powers that we can tell, but that might change, I don't really know, his birth was very normal compared to mine, with two agents testing me for being a mutant I don't really think you could top that without hydra striaght up kidnapping you. I know they are going to be a problem for me because of the stupid agents at the hospital. I haven't had much of an opportunity to get stronger because of my parents, so I focused on leveling as many skills and getting as much knowledge as I could.

Turns out the skills from my screen are not the only ones I can get. I figured that out when I remembered that I'm going to need to know coding if I'm ever going to design my own suit to be a vigilante. Cause I am not wearing a skin-tight spandex pajama, it is going to be my own type of impact resistant armor. Anyway, here is my stats screen.

After five years, I've learned a little about how my powers work. First off, I should clarify that 10 is average human in stats roughly. So, having 14 in Stamina in a five year old body is a lot. My Stingers also do not like to listen to me at what so ever, they pop out when I'm stressed or when I get really excited. This sucks because I have a lot of energy because my stamina is so high, so I run at a pretty consistent high.

Also my Webbing is non-standard, meaning it has irregular dissolving times, I still have some from when they first devolped and decided that they were going to make as much as they could before stopping. I had to hide it from my parents that was scary because my parents wouldn't let me go until I showed them what I was hiding. Luckily, there was so much it looked like a big ball bunch of string. Which is sitting on my desk next to my book shelf, not having disappeared at all. I've experimented and I still can't make permanent webs, they always go away at a maximum of an hour or two. When I'm older, this problem should go away.

My highest level skill is coding because my parents have seen how interested I am in it. I'm not, but it feels as if when I learn something new about coding, it is like I already knew it but was just remembering. It is pretty interesting, and I don't think it is only going to happen for coding. I need to search for more skills to add. About knowledge driven skills because the rest of the skills I have are not easy to master at all. They good thing about them thinking I really liked coding is that they got me my own computer to code with, which is a deal and half for me, because now I don't need to ask for permission to use the family or their computer.

Also, I'm starting school yay, but it is going to be a regular school with other little kids. I have tried to convince them to let me be homeschooled or at least let me skip elementary. The same arguement same outcome of them winning because apparently one friend is not good enough, whatever. I don't think so, but I will respect their decisions until someone in this place disrespects me.

"Well, here we are," my dad says, pulling up to a school. Today is my first day of kindergarten, I don't want to go here. I planned on skipping elementary and going straight to middle school. My dad looks at me in the back of the car and at my upset face with a sigh he starts talking, "Hey bud I know you don't want to go to kindergarten and elementary school, but your mother and I are worried about you making friends."

"I can make friends, I have Felicia, ya know. Making friends is not hard I just don't want to make friends with people who aren't smart enough to think for themselves." Only getting a nod from dad I can see a proud look of understanding.

"How about this you go through with this and I'll try to convince your mother to let you start training in some martial art or let you have some sort of training. I know you want to and have been begging for us to let you train."

My head snapped up. "Alright I can do that are you sure, you can convince mom to let me do that?" I said a little to excitedly

"You leave mom to me and you focus on school and making some friends." All I do is nod and get out of my seat, and start to head to the school.

"I'll pick you up after school just wait in your classroom!" I turn back and nod, and then open the door to the school and walk to my class.
