Chapter 3: Reward

"Ugh.."

When Asher regained consciousness, he was met with an unexpected sensation - he was alive and healed.

He sat up slowly, a dull ache resonating through his body, but no sharp pain. His wounds were gone.

Asher was stunned. He muttered to himself in disbelief, "I... I survived. I actually survived that bear..."

He examined his hands, turning them over, feeling the smooth skin where there should have been wounds. "And I'm healed... How is this even possible?"

Just as he was about to stand up, the mysterious voice echoed again, pulling him from his thoughts.

[System: Congratulations, Host. You've defeated the 'Inferno Spirit Bear']

[You have earned the title: 'Flame Vanquisher']

[New feature unlocked: 'Status']

[Rewards given: 1 unique grade weapon, 1 rare skill book, 1 common skill book. Check them in your 'Inventory']

The mysterious voice faded, leaving Asher alone with his thoughts.

He had survived, earned a title, and apparently, unlocked some new features and rewards. But what did it all mean?

In the quiet that followed the voice's announcements, Asher's voice broke the silence, a single word escaping his lips, "Status..."

[Asher Starborn]

[Title: Flame Vanquisher]

[Traits: Sovereign Serenity]

[Class: N/A]

[Lvl: 2]

[Exp: 0/200]

[HP: 80/Epic Growth Talent]

[MP: 60/Unique Growth Talent]

[Sta: 35/Unique Growth Talent]

[Str: 20/Epic Growth Talent]

[Agi: 15/Rare Growth Talent]

[Int: 45/ Legendary Growth Talent]

[Wis: 30/Unique Growth Talent]

[Cha: 25/ Epic Growth Talent]

[Luk: 40/ Legendary Growth Talent]

[Unallocated Pts: 20]

A translucent screen suddenly appeared in front of me, displaying a list of traits, attributes, and growth tiers.

Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, Luck - these were my attributes, each represented by a number.

Just as I was about to reach out to the screen, a voice echoed in my mind.

[System: Host, understanding your attributes and growth potential is essential for progression. Allocate points to attributes wisely for optimal advancement.]

The voice was devoid of emotion, purely factual. It was like a guide, providing me with crucial information in this strange new reality.

Then, the same voice echoed again.

[System: Attributes become available upon reaching specific levels. Each player possesses distinct traits and attributes, influenced by their individual characteristics. These unique traits are paramount, akin to class. Growth tiers range from Common, Rare, Epic, Unique, Legendary, to Mythic. Higher growth potential signifies greater advancement opportunities.]

I took a moment to process all this information.

Taking a deep breath, I decided to stop overthinking.

"Inventory," I muttered to myself, and a cube-like screen materialized in front of me.

It was empty, save for three items: a unique grade weapon, a rare skill book, and a common skill book.

I reached out, my hand passing through the translucent screen to touch the first item.

It was a weapon, a sword to be precise.

The hilt was intricately designed, and the blade was a shimmering silver.

It felt light in my hand, perfectly balanced.

As I held it, details about the weapon appeared on the screen.

[Unique Grade Weapon - Silverfang]

[Tier: Unique.]

[Durability: 80.]

[Effect: Increases attack speed by 10% and damage by 15%]

"Silverfang," I said aloud, appreciating the name.

"A unique grade weapon. This could make a difference."

I took a moment to swing the sword, getting a feel for its weight and balance.

It moved smoothly through the air, almost as if it was an extension of my arm.

Satisfied, I returned it to the inventory and moved on to the next item.

Next, I touched the rare skill book. It was a small, leather-bound tome.

As I opened it, the book dissolved into a stream of light that flowed into me.

A system notification appeared,

[Skill Book Obtained - Flame Burst]

[Tier: Rare]

[Unleashes a burst of flame, causing damage to enemies within range].

[MP Cost: 20]

[Skill Type: Active]

[Skill has been learned.]

"Flame Burst," I said, thinking about the skill.

"A rare skill that's powerful, but it uses a lot of MP. I'll have to be careful when to use it."

Finally, I picked up the common skill book. It was similar to the rare skill book, but simpler in design.

As I opened it, the book also dissolved into light and flowed into me.

Another system notification appeared,

[Skill Book Obtained - Quick Heal]

[Tier: Common]

[Accelerates healing of minor wounds.]

[MP Cost: 10]

[Skill Type: Passive]

[Skill has been learned.]

"And Quick Heal," I added, "A common skill with a low MP cost. That's going to be useful."

I closed the inventory, the cube-like screen disappearing as if it had never been there.

"Alright, time to grind," I said to myself.

I was ready to find a monster to fight, to test my strength.

But as I moved forward, something felt off. The air was heavy, the silence eerie.

Then, a mist began to roll in, wrapping the world around me in a ghostly shroud.

I gripped my weapon tighter, my senses on high alert.

Suddenly, a thought struck me.

The silence, the mist, the unsettling feeling - it reminded me of stories I'd heard about ancient labyrinths. Dangerous, mysterious places lost to time. Could I be in such a place?

A chill ran down my spine, but I shook it off. I took a deep breath, quieting my racing heart.

I focused on my surroundings, listening to the silence, watching the mist.

I stood still, my senses heightened as I observed my surroundings.

Suddenly, a low growl echoed through the mist. A wolf. It growled at me, its figure barely visible before it vanished into the mist.

I was taken aback, but I remained calm, gripping my Silverfang sword tightly.

The wolf was fast, too fast. I felt its claws graze my skin, each attack leaving shallow cuts.

I swung my sword, but the wolf was always one step ahead, dodging and disappearing before I could land a hit.

I was struggling, barely able to defend myself, let alone attack.

The wolf's growls grew louder, its attacks fiercer.

I realized then that blindly attacking was a suicide. I needed a plan.

So, I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and stood still.

I realized that relying on sight was useless in this mist.

The wolf was using it to its advantage. So, I closed my eyes and focused on my other senses.

It was risky, but it was the only logical way to fight back.

I heightened my hearing, my sense of smell, even the feel of the air around me.

To the wolf, it might have seemed like I was giving up, but I was actually preparing to strike.

I stood still, holding my Silverfang in front of me, ready for the wolf's approach.

As it approached, its intent to kill clear, something unexpected happened.

I felt a surge of energy, not knowing that it was my mana.

It was like a field of energy was forming around me, though I wasn't aware of it.

The wolf walked right into my trap.

With a swift movement, I swung my Silverfang, stepping forward as I did. The blade connected, decapitating the wolf.

It was over. I had won.
