Chapter 51: Maze of Misery

Upon arriving at the path of the maze where she had to create a decision by either choosing to tread left or right, or even going backwards.

Flower couldn't decide which path to go, reasons being that, first of all it was dark already, and she could barely even view where her own legs were at vividly, talkless of having to view miles away from where she was standing at present. Second of all she was excessive cold, fatigued and extremely indulge in famishments.

So therefore, developing a suitable decision presently, in Flower's point of view, were as though she was planning to mount the Mount Everest.

Flower exhaled. Puffing her cheeks, she rubbed her palms upon them.

'I guess I should go with left this time. Since I've chosen to go right earlier.'

After that thought, timid Flower prompted left immediately with meticulosity.

She wasn't in a hurry. She was still hoping on analyzing the environment before pushing herself into hasty mode. Flower had to adapt to precautions, solely because she didn't know what to expect from deciding to go left. She didn't know what animals to be anticipated there or contrastingly, neither did she know what types of places it led to. Therefore she had to lay low at first, to incur safety.

Flower perpetuate walking farther. She walked and walked until her legs hurt and she could no longer do so, as it is, she couldn't avoid her limbs falling off from her body basically because she just had to continue walking.

This was when Flower decided that she had to take a rest. Knowing fully well that she has managed to secure a safe and long distance between herself and those huge dogs. She could now rest in absolute peace, although not full 'absolute peace', reasons being that she might still be under the scrutiny of some wild animals which she literally might just haven't speculated yet.

Since there were no nearby tree which she could mount, and sleep upon. Flower didn't simply see how to secure a secluded spot for peaceful sleeping.

Sitting on the bone-chilling, frigid ground. Flower intertwine her legs into that of a yoga posture. She layed her head which was covered by the hood of her hoodie, upon the wall, closing her eyes.

Few minutes later…. Flower yawned wiltingly.

Folding her knees together, she wrapped her arms around them.

Soon enough. Flower's head began to fidget occasionally, she was starting to fall asleep, into a deep sleep to be precised. Initially these was what she knew would transpire if she decided to take a rest. But then again this wasn't what she wanted, she simply can not take the risk of falling into a deep sleep.

But Flower's body knew what it wanted, it knew that it needed to sleep as soon as possible, so of course it wasn't going to let adamant Flower ruin, or get in-between itself and its resting period.

Flower yawned again, and in a short period of time, Flower soon drifted into the clutches of drowsiness as her body couldn't take the exhaustiveness any longer than it was already doing. So Flower fell asleep there and then.

Her body fidgeted occasionally upon where it was layed, as she perpetually substitute her position simultaneously. She continue to substitute her position until her head slipped away from atop the wall of the mountains where it was once was. She was presently now sleeping on the bare ground, lost and hopeless. As the loud and high pitched snores escaping out of her mouth echoed and overwhelmed the whole maze like the cries of a toddler.

….

It was morning and it wasn't snowing anymore, thankfully. The snow not falling anymore, gave the sunlight several chances to show it beauteous and dazzling sunlight. The morning appeared clean, fresh and bright, perceiving as though they were located in Paradise.

Flower was definitely still asleep, as a subsequent snoring could still be heard at some point in the maze. Her body was peculiarly segmented on the frigid ground, with her satchel still situated upon her back, as her red face was aimed sideways, and her black, silky hairs were scattered above the ground all amalgamated with white dots of snow.

Eventually it didn't take long for Flower to be jolted awake. Her eyelashes suddenly flung themselves open in one goal. Her eyes remained vividly open, accurately staring at the strange thing that was transpiring.

Flower squinted her eyebrows,"Huh? What could be going on?" she questioned herself uncertainly. As she resumed fixating her focal area upon the small stones that were present beside her.

Flower could tell that those stones were quivering. They were being lifted above the ground constantly with meticulosity and would fall back again, this continued, it was as though loud stumps were being made upon the earth surface. Or even as though a giant with an huge feet was walking amidst the maze somewhere.

Hastily, Flower uplifted herself. And then she poured some water on her face to make sure she wasn't dreaming or something like that. Flower of course didn't know what was making such trembling sounds which could cause even the smallest stone to quiver, but she still didn't have any interest in finding out.

But still she was still occupied by various guesses of what they might be.

'But… I don't know of any animals that lives in Alaska and that could make such loud stumping sounds.'

'Could there be trolls in Alaska too?'

'Wow… so unbelievable.'

Flower gulped. Shrugging those thoughts off her shoulders.

'Well then. Time to go.' With this thought, she clung onto the reins of her satchel, and her short legs began treading away and farther.

Notwithstanding, Flower couldn't help but have an hunch that hence as she kept moving forward and farther, the loud stumping sounds kept resounding and percepting abundantly loud. It was basically seeming as though that pitched stumping sounds was tailing her.

Definitely, this made Flower frightened. Knowing that whatever was coming was undoubtedly coming her path. Running her hands across her hairs. Her frail heart began to palpitate. Flower began to vehemently bite her nails out of nervousness. Even so, this didn't mean that she had halted her steps or quit walking.

Infact, hearing those quivering stumping sounds made her walking accuracy, doubled in rate. That gradually from walking, she had to immediately switched to speedwalking. And presently from speedwalking, she had now rapidly switched to running dreadfully and intensely. As the stumping sounds kept increasing within every seconds that drifted by.

She couldn't afford whatever it was, catching up to her. Then tears began forming at the side of her eyes, her heartbeat accelerated incrementally.

Flower had already bitten her lips to the extent of causing it to bleed. Her red face had turned ghast, likewise her palms which were folded forcefully. Flower didn't realize that she was biting her lips so intensely, neither was she aware that her palms were folded together forcefully into a fist, which had caused them to turn blake, all this just happened to transpire in a moment of defense and fright.

Indeed, Flower knew undoubtedly well that neither trolls nor giants existed in reality. They were all simply no more than just mythical creatures, imaginary beings and basic illusionary stuffs, or even perhaps something that could only be encountered whilst sleeping.

Nonetheless, Flower would have thought all that if only she hadn't once met a werewolf few days ago. If she was hearing such horrible sounds back in her hometown, then she wouldn't have thought too much about it.

But presently, she now believed that anything was possible in this creepy environment. If a werewolf could be present here, then there's no doubt that other imaginary, bizarre creatures couldn't also dwell here.

At the relentless thought of all these, Flower's delicate heart palpitated much more indicible. It was really awkward for Flower knowing that she had stupidly presumed she had gotten freedom and joy by escaping from Anthony's clasps, to now realizing that she had mistaken danger and death for freedom and joy. And instead attracted immensely badluck upon herself by escaping.

Her head began to calculate and analyze what to manifest next, making her head to become quite hot and disrupted. She had no weapons, tools or even the smallest instruments to defend herself. There's no better option than to do one thing, which she had been doing beforehand—hiding.

Hiding was her specialty. She had ceaselessly hidden herself twice whilst running away from the wild, vicious bears yesterday. She had also hidden herself whilst trying to not get perceived by those cruelsome scavenging huge wolves who were feasting on a juicy, dead animal yesterday night. If there's one thing she's good at, it is to literally hide and runaway from her problems. It's either of those two, hide or runaway.

Well, actually, no one could blame her for always resulting into doing such, as it is she has no one to protect her, treat her injuries or even feed her.

Instead of being fed, she was actually the main meal in this eerie, isolated terrain. If Regina was to have informed Flower that this terrain they were in wasn't Alaska then Flower would have believed it back then. Even she was still basically having some doubts about this creepy environment being Alaska. If not that the place was frigid and wintery then Flower would have think about it twice before sticking to Regina's words.

However, this wasn't the time to ponder about whatever Regina say or did not say. Another situation was at hand, and it isn't a pleasing situation to be precise, it's more of a perilous situation.

"It's getting louder," Flower fumfered underneath her breaths with a shaky vocal. She was having troubles in doing so many things; amidst trying to stabilize her pantings, amidst trying to calm down her profusely palpitating heart, amidst getting her inner emotions under control and minimizing her dreadful state.

'It's definitely coming after me,' she confirmed inwardly.

At this point in time, Flower was now certain that whatever it was that was producing those loud stumping sounds was undoubtedly coming after her and towards her current direction.

The poor girl could still be seen running helter skelter like an hopeless dog looking for meat, just that Flower wasn't looking for meat, instead, she was looking for safety, which apparently deemed rather quite difficult than searching for meat actually.

The situation was horrible for Flower because, first of all the path was heading to an unknown territory and direction. What if whilst running away from whatever was creating such dire and horrible stumping sounds mislead her into running straight into the clutches of another danger or into the mouths of some hungry scavengers—wolves, bears.

So therefore, Flower had to be extra careful not to land herself into extreme danger. Flower stopped to catch her breaths a bit, she had barely even woken up fully, if not for those giants stumping sounds, then she's likely to have still been sleeping by now, or in the least, to not have reach this path as she would still be moving sluggishly like a sloth.

Looking backwards, Flower could see snow dusts forming up in the air just some distance away from where she had already treaded, or let's say scurried by. It was thick, elusive and overwhelming. Causing her to cough subsequently.

Waving her hands above her nose Flower attempted getting rid of the dust that was causing her to cough so much. She panted, and then the moment she was about to turn her pale face back to her front and resume running in dread like before and as always.

She caught sight of something that cornered her utmost attention distance away from herself, coming out of the area that the dust and loud stumps was being created. Which caused her to continue staring at it with an heavy heart and an expressionless gaze as she couldn't come to the understanding of what it was, at least not yet she couldn't.
