Chapter 34: Enhanced Attributes

All of Jonathan's attributes had improved to superhuman levels. Not only that, but he also gained new traits labeled as skills, which was incredibly beneficial, sparing him from worrying about certain aspects that a normal human would need to be cautious about.

Feeling the intensity brought about by the bodily changes, Jonathan knew that to reap further benefits, he should challenge the next gateway to the underworld and achieve a higher rating. Though this metaphor might be a bit exaggerated, at least it was much simpler now that he possessed physical qualities that would eliminate concerns about ordinary zombies he might encounter in the upcoming gates.

Finally, Jonathan turned his attention to the points he had, a total of 29,500 points. Observing the situations of other people who were highly expressive as Jonathan wandered aimlessly, he could tell that most had earned three-digit points in most cases, with the four-digit scores being reserved for the top ten.

Many had died, but those who survived or were lucky like Alex, or, on the other hand, did a good job doing what everyone should do – survive.

After observing for a while, Jonathan also understood a point. Basically, only with a grade C or higher, points to be earned can be more than four digits. Those who can earn thousands of points usually have grades above level B. However, these people are very rare and are only reserved for the top ten mentioned.

Looking at the rewards, there was a slight change, and that was that many chose the same gateway as Jonathan. These were the people who had chosen gates with short stories, usually completed in the first simulation, so there was no need to continue the story from where it left off.

Jonathan, on the other hand, should continue with the simulation of the chosen gate. He didn't know what awaited him, but he needed to be prepared. Many were smarter, but others were still as foolish as in the first choice, guided by everything but logic.

"What should I do with the points?" Jonathan asked, slightly confused. On the inanimate panel, there was a store where accessories that could accompany him to the next and subsequent simulations could be found. An example of what could be found was various firearms, tools to escape from various situations, and many more things.

The most expensive items were things like advanced weapons; the T-virus was even for sale, but the prices were super high. The cheapest that could be bought was around 5,000 points. However, there were also some special products for participants. Among them was the Mjolnir Mark VI armor, super strength serum, and even avatar mercenaries.

"Can you carry all these things?" Jonathan was incredibly surprised to see what could be bought with the points. Mercenaries and enhanced strength serums? He didn't know what he could face in the future, but that was something very exaggerated to have.

Some items won in simulations could also be sold. You could even buy things like The Witcher serum, which granted first-level super regeneration, telekinesis, and many other physical enhancements. But even if the items were good, the points needed to buy them were at an astronomical price. Advanced medicines were another beneficial point, but the prices were also super expensive and not suitable for purchase.

After wandering through the item store, Jonathan knew that the simulation reset card could be sold for over 10,000 points, but it couldn't be acquired for a price lower than that, and the only way for one to exist was to obtain it in a simulation.

After a while, since Jonathan's world was premeditated, there was no need to prepare so much, so he would only buy single-use tools.

"I should start with this... A Commando VK78 rifle from the Halo world," Jonathan murmured when he saw that this weapon could be used in other worlds.

In the description, this rifle was equipped with an improved optical system that allowed for a greater effective range without losing situational awareness. When the optics were in use, the rifle immediately switched to semi-automatic firing mode for greater accuracy.

The purchase of this rifle cost 7,000 points, but the ammunition was one of the most affordable. Each 20-round magazine cost only 200 points, so Jonathan bought 25 magazines of 6.5x48mm M259 ammunition.

In an instant, 12,000 points had been spent so quickly that Jonathan couldn't react correctly, but he believed they were good purchases.

That type of ammunition is more than perfect for eliminating zombies like Tyrant, who couldn't be harmed with conventional ammunition.

"A M6D pistol at a cost of 5,000 points..." Jonathan thought he was making risky choices, but this weapon was the ultimate pistol. This weapon was unique; not only could it kill incredibly powerful beings, but the bullets also exploded upon impact, which is why it was such a costly weapon. With a twelve-round magazine, Jonathan bought some ammunition, and after some daily grenades, he had 10,000 points left.

"I should enhance my abilities with the remaining points..." Jonathan murmured, totally convinced.
