Chapter 20: Back in the old chapel

The air crackled with an unseen energy, a tangible presence that sent shivers down his spine. It was as if the old building itself was calling out to him, whispering secrets to his subconscious.

Driven by an unknown force, Kael stepped forward, his feet crunching on the gravel path leading to the chapel's entrance. The heavy oak door stood ajar, beckoning him inside.

He hesitated for a moment, his heart pounding in his chest. The restraining order, the warnings of the detective, all echoed in his mind. But the pull he felt was stronger than fear, a yearning for knowledge and understanding that overpowered his doubts.

Taking a deep breath, Kael pushed open the door and stepped inside. The darkness within the chapel seemed to swallow him whole, the silence broken only by the soft echo of his footsteps on the dusty floor.

As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he saw it. The same strange symbol he had seen before, etched onto the wall in a pulsating blue light. It seemed to beckon him closer, its power drawing him in like a moth to a flame.

He reached out, his fingers brushing against the cold stone. A surge of energy coursed through him, his vision blurring as the world around him dissolved. He was transported to a different place, a different time, his consciousness pulled through the veil of reality.

Disoriented and confused, Kael looked around, his heart hammering in his chest. He was back in the familiar hallway of the school, the fluorescent lights casting a sterile glow. His friends, Emma and Alex, walked beside him, their heads bowed and faces etched with disappointment. They had just left the counselling room.

The memory of the chapel, the moonlit night, the strange transmigration – it all felt like a vivid dream, a fleeting vision that had no place in his reality. But the unsettling feeling lingered, a reminder that something extraordinary had occurred.

He glanced at his friends, their dejected demeanor mirroring his own internal turmoil. The restraining order, the accusations, the sudden intrusion into their lives – it all weighed heavily on their spirits.

Kael longed to share his experience, to tell them about the vision of the chapel, the mysterious glow, the feeling of being pulled into a different realm. But something held him back. Was he truly ready to reveal this extraordinary secret? Would they believe him?

He decided to remain silent for now, choosing to process the experience on his own. He knew he needed time to understand what had happened, to separate reality from fantasy.

As Kael, Emma, and Alex approached Amelia's classroom, a mix of emotions swirled within him. He yearned to see her again, to feel the warmth of her smile and the comfort of her presence. But a lingering fear kept him hesitant, the memory of the restraining order and the transmigration he had gone through a heavy weight on his heart.

Reaching Amelia's classroom, Kael hope to see her face through the window. Taking a deep breath, he peeked through the window, his gaze searching for Amelia's familiar face. A shiver ran down his spine as he saw her looking directly at him, her eyes wide with surprise.

Amelia's sudden appearance startled him, causing him to jump back as if stung. He felt his cheeks flush with embarrassment.

Kael's heart hammered in his chest as he offered Amelia a nervous smile through the window. The unexpected encounter had sent his emotions into overdrive, leaving him feeling both exhilarated and apprehensive.

He quickly averted his gaze, the image of her unwavering eyes burned into his memory. The weight of the restraining order and the uncertainty of their situation pressed down on him, urging him to move on before he drew further attention.

With a hurried pace, he walked away, feeling as if he were being chased by an unseen force. As Kael navigated the crowded hallway, his mind still reeling from the bizzarre trance he was drawn into in the counselling room, he suddenly came face to face with Jason. The bully stood smirkly in the middle of the corridor, his eyes glinting with a malicious intent.
