Chapter 13: Good news
Jayden had a heavy breakfast and ate a lot because of the large amount of alcohol he consumed last night. When he woke up this morning his stomach was already grumbling for food.
By the time he was done with breakfast his hangover symptoms were already non-existent. It was already late in the morning almost noon when he was ready to go to work. Fortunately, his assistant Marcus was fast enough to reschedule all his meetings to the afternoon.
So he still had some time before his first meeting by 1 pm. Marcus had gotten to his house like the diligent assistant he was and they were all heading to JayxTech's head office.
On the way, Jayden decided to search about the platform Miles told him about last night's family fantasy. Jayden was astonished at the information he discovered as he had no idea something like this even existed.
'How did Miles even hear about this?' he wondered. Thankfully this had made his life easier. Jayden registered an account and tried to book a tier 3 escort which was the most experienced and expensive but there was none available on the day of the gala.
He did not want to book a tier 1 since they were still new and lacked experience he did not want to take any risks. After much contemplation, he settled on tier 2 who had a notable amount of experience and could perform special requests.
After confirming his booking, the majority of the tension he felt reduced. To protect his relationship with Petra he really didn't mind putting on an act.

" Aunty Karissa your health is important, please just try and go to the hospital. Zayn was worried about you. If you are sick I will not be okay to focus on my studies." Venessa woke up this morning and made sure to give Aunty Karissa a call before heading to school.
Karissa was against going to the hospital because of their tight funds so Venessa had to plead over and over again but the middle-aged woman was very stubborn and adamant about not going. She kept on insisting that she was just a little bit stressed, Zayn was exaggerating how sick she was but Venessa knew Karissa was lying because her voice was very weak and tired. It made Venessa scared at the thought of losing another family member.
She still had not gotten over the trauma of losing her parents years ago. Whenever she recalls that dreadful event, her eyes always got teary.
"Aunty please go to the hospital I don't want to lose you like I lost Mom and Dad." Venessa was sniffing her nose while she harshly wiped her tears with the back of her palms.
When Karissa heard Venessa's husky voice laced with fear she knew she was thinking about her parents. Even Karissa would never forget her elder brother and her lovely sister-in-law. She did not want Venessa's trauma to be triggered by her so she had no choice but to assure Venessa that she would go to the hospital.
" Fine, I will go before you guys kill me with your complaints." Karissa's weak voice replied, she was grumbling about going to the hospital and was disappointed she was unable to hide her health from Zayn.
" Okay, don't worry about me Aunty I will be fine, please take care of your health I would rather be poor with my family than rich alone. Okay bye I have to go to school now." Venessa was still very emotional about her biggest fear.
" Okay, little Vee Aunty would take care of herself. Have a nice day. I will go to the hospital this morning before heading to the shop." Karissa's playful voice while addressing her by her childhood nickname made Venessa giggle before she hung up the call.
Classes that day were long a rigorous in the morning. It made Venessa question her life decisions and why she chose to study such a complex course. Her old laptop with a processor which was slow like they made it in the 90's was not helping matters.
She was overdue for a new system but that was a cost she could not afford now. Even though she tried her best to concentrate on lectures her mind was elsewhere thinking about her problems that kept on piling up.
She could not imagine anything bad happening to Aunty Karissa because she was the only other family Zayn had; meaning she would have to be responsible for Zayn and might drop out of school since Karissa was the one handling her school fees.
Venessa groaned at her predicaments which attracted curious glances from her coursemates.
During her third period in the afternoon, her mind was a little bit clearer and she had to force herself to pay complete attention since this was one of the classes she found very challenging.
Her fingers were rapidly taking notes on her system but halted when she saw an email notification from Family Fantasy. She was curious to see what it was.
Venessa squeaked in excitement when she saw the contents.
" Miss Clarkson can you please behave yourself if you want to stay in class." The lecturer's stern voice reprimanded Venessa. Her pitch voice interrupted the class.
Venessa was embarrassed by the lecturer's stern instruction but she was so excited that she kept on giggling throughout the class. Her course mate who was her friend Sinclair sent her a DM on WhatsApp.
Sinclair: why are you behaving like an excited girl who got an early Christmas present (smirking emoji)
Venessa: it is a secret ( smiling emoji) but technically I got a new job.
Sinclair: what happened to your formal Job? (Curious emoji)
Venessa: I got fired a couple of days ago. I have been so busy I did not tell you.
Sinclair: why didn't you? I would have helped you out in getting a new one like I did to get you the last one.
Sinclair was the person who recommended Venessa for her last job he had been Venessa's good friend since their freshman year but Venessa was too embarrassed to Inform him that she was fired because of how difficult it was for Sinclair to get her the Job in the First place and she did not want to bother her college best friend.
Venessa: sorry but I did not want to bother you. ( Teary eye emoji) but it is ok bestie I already have it figured out.
Sinclair: Okay.
Sinclair was not pleased with the fact Venessa saw him just like a friend and did not want to Inform him about her issues after they had known each other for a while now. He was Venessa's only friend in their department and he was worried about her strange behavior recently but Venessa was hesitant to talk to him about it.
Sinclair did not chat with Venessa further and returned his attention to the class. Venessa on the other hand was too excited she could not concentrate on the class anymore. Family Fantasy shortlisted her in their final list because one of the Top 5 was disqualified because of the document verification stage. The email read a staff recommended her which made her the better choice instead of no 6. Venessa was in the seventh position in the physical Interview.
She was instructed to come to the company headquarters before 6 pm to sign her contract and complete her profile details. "Finally something good was happening." She thought. She had a beaming smile which didn't fail to come to the notice of Sinclair who was entranced by her smile.
After the third period was over Venessa hurried out of campus with her tails behind her Sinclair had an amused expression when he saw how fast and excited she was. He did not even have a chance to ask her more questions about her new job.
When he remembered that Venessa was fired from her previous job his smile faded because he had to question the manager why Venessa was fired and he was unaware of it. The restaurant Venessa was previously employed at was owned by Sinclair's mother which is why he was able to get her a job there.
He would have given Venessa a better job but his best friend did not like taking advantage of people and believed in hard work. She was indeed a silly girl. That is why he hid the fact his mother was the owner of the restaurant. Now he has to find out what happened that his little Vee was fired without his knowledge. Sinclair's eyes darkened and his handsome face had a wicked expression, like he was about to kill someone.
The poor manager had no idea that he had offended his young master because he fired a waiter while trying to appease his customers now his job is threatened.
After Venessa was gone Sinclair was not interested in classes again and called his driver to take him directly to the restaurant. He normally did not take his driver to school because he did not want Venessa to know his background because of her hatred for the high class. Since she was not around he decided to save himself the stress of booking an Uber.
The driver was initially shocked by his young master's request but he did not waste any time and headed to the school immediately.
