Chapter 37: Chapter 37 Kaiya

Dungeons are mysterious elements that can only be found on Earth; no other planet besides Earth has a thing called dungeons. Even though star energy is present in other worlds, dungeons don't exist there, and the reason behind is still a mystery.

The dungeons don't disappear even after being completely cleared thousands of times, and the monsters inside just respawn after a certain amount of time. The mechanics behind this phenomenon also remain a mystery.

Even Voraxs decided to wage war against Earthlings because of these things called dungeons that suddenly appeared out of nowhere 150 years ago, all over Earth.

Dungeons look like big space cracks, and they are divided into 9 ranks, from Bronze to Legend. Each rank has three sub-ranks: low, mid, and high.

A dungeon is sometimes as big as a country and sometimes as small as an island. However, the size of a dungeon doesn't determine its rank. The ranks are given based on which rank monsters are usually found there and up to which rank a cultivator is allowed to enter.

If a dungeon rank is a bronze, then only bronze-rank cultivators are allowed to enter, just like if a dungeon rank is silver, then only those with silver rank cultivation can enter; the sub-ranks don't matter.

Anyone ranked higher or lower than that isn't allowed to enter, but even with the restrictions, if someone still forcefully tries to enter, they would receive a curse from the dungeon itself, and it's quite harmful to those cultivators that forcefully try to enter a dungeon; sometimes they even die because of this curse.

But dungeons are extremely valuable for a cultivator. They contain many benefits, like beast cores, that can only be found on the monsters inside the dungeons.

These beast cores can help a cultivator boost their cultivation speed and recover star energy at a fast speed. The higher the ranks of a beast core, the better the results.

It's like someone is cultivating normally without the help of beast cores, but with a genius-level cultivation speed, and another one is cultivating with an average-level cultivation speed but has a beast core with him. Then that average cultivator can even bypass the genius cultivators.

Because of these beast cores, humanity was able to get strong in such a short amount of time and fight against the Vorax race. Or if they had tried to cultivate normally without the help of beast cores, then the Vorax race would have long taken over Earth.

Also because of this reason Vorax race is at war with humanity, as they wish to have the dungeons all to themselves. And humanity doesn't wish to give it to them.

Even though Vorax first promised humanity that they would give humanity a new planet and all new technologies that they had never seen in exchange for the dungeons, humanity refused to cooperate with them, cause who would?

It's as if someone burgled into someone else's property and now is telling the owner, 'Give me your 100 million dollar property, and in exchange, I will let you live and give you another 100 million dollar property.'

For others, the choice would have been obvious, cause who wants to lose their life just for some property that has the same value as the other property they are getting?

But humanity chooses to believe in their luck and tell them, 'fuck off!' and then the war between humanity and Vorax began, with humanity on the losing side. And now even if humanity wishes to take the previous deal, it won't be possible as it had been far too long to regret it now.

Not all dungeons are just for hunting beasts and getting beast cores. Some dungeons are different; they are called legacy dungeons. And the legacy dungeons are extremely rare on Earth. Very few such dungeons have been discovered up until now, as they are well hidden and act just like any normal dungeon.

What differentiates these legacy dungeons from normal dungeons is that they possess a legacy of strong cultivators from the past. Sometimes it's a high-rank weapon, sometimes it's a powerful technique.

But that is not limitless like Beast Core; after someone finds and inherits that legacy, that legacy dungeon would then become like any other normal dungeon. So only one can take a legacy, and after that, those legacies would disappear; they won't respawn like monsters.

Currently, Jin Wei is searching for one such dungeon. In the novel, it was only mentioned that Liam was pushed into an unexplored high-bronze rank dungeon, but the name or the location wasn't mentioned.

Fortunately, it was mentioned that, inside the military academy, only one such bronze-rank unexplored dungeon exists. Or it would have been a real pain in the ass.

Entering a dungeon for a first year is also not easy, as first-year students are mostly newbies who haven't even learned how to fight or master any techniques. So how can they hope to enter a dungeon and beat monsters that are stronger than humans on the same ranks?

That's practically suicide, so the first-year students need to wait until a low-ranking teacher or some senior is willing to enter the dungeons with them.

But Jin Wei wishes to enter alone, as he doesn't want others to know that the dungeon he is entering is a legacy dungeon and make others compete with him.

Dungeons appeared at random, so their location is also random; some are close to each other, and some are at a distance from each other. However, the location where the military academy is built has the most low-ranking dungeons on Earth, from Bronze rank to gold rank.

And every place where a dungeon exists, the military builds a special barrier and makes sure to remind everyone about the level of the dungeon, its name, and other details such as what type of monsters are usually found there.

Because of this, Jin Wei believed that he would be able to find the dungeon pretty easily.

But now he knows just how wrong he was. He has been searching for that unexplored dungeon for an hour now. And now he is already close to the border where the second-year students of this sector study.

As a first-year student, he would be just like a chicken going into a fox den if he bypassed that border, so he hoped that the dungeon he was looking for was inside the border of the first-year area.

After searching around the forest for another hour, Jin Wei finally found the dungeon he had been looking for. Fortunately for him, it was still inside the border of the first-year area, as he didn't want to mess with the second year yet.

The dungeon is a big blue space crack, and the space crack is completely covered by a thick invisible barrier.

Outside the invisible barrier, a blue holographic screen can be seen, saying the details about the dungeon.

[Dungeon status: Unexplored.]

[Name: ???]

[Dungeon Rank: Bronze High Rank]

[Monsters details: ???]

[Recommend not to enter for the first year.]

As Jin Wei read the details, he just smirked inside. He finally found the dungeon he had been looking for. Although it's recommended for first-year students not to enter, it's not like he was going to listen to it.

With that, he quickly put his wristwatch on the holographic screen, and after that, another message appeared in front of him.

[10 points needed to enter. Clicked yes for confirmation.]

[Yes] \ [No]

Without any hesitation, Jin Wei clicked yes; then his wristwatch vibrated, and a notification appeared in front of him.

With this, the invisible barrier began to create a gap as large as a door. Then Jin Wei quickly entered the gap, and with that, the gap closed, and then Jin Wei hurriedly jumped on the crack, and his whole body vanished from the face of the earth.

What Jin Wei didn't realize was that someone had been following him the whole time. As soon as Jin Wei jumped on the space crack, a girl who had been following Jin Wei this whole time came out of the tree, looking extremely nervous.

The girl that was hiding behind a tree up until now has an above-average, heart-shaped face, pale white skin, short dark purple hair, and almost pupilless eyes if not for the light purple border around her pupil. She was wearing the same black military uniform as everyone and was wearing nerdy glasses to hide her abnormal eyes.

And on her dress, her name was written, Kaiya.

Seeing Jin Wei enter the dungeon, Kaiya, was extremely nervous, but then a sudden sense of determination entered her eyes.

"I need to save him... Jin Wei, my prince, wait for me..." Kaiya shouted, and she hurriedly ran towards the barrier.

Then she quickly put her wristwatch on the holographic screen, and just like Jin Wei, a message appeared in front of her.

[10 points needed to enter. Clicked yes for confirmation.]

[Yes] \ [No]

Kaiya, without hesitation, clicked on the yes, and then a notification appeared on her wristwatch.

With that, Kaiya also entered the barrier and jumped on the space cracks, and her body also disappeared from the face of the earth.
