Chapter 44: Chapter 44 Sergeant Leo

Today, after Jin Wei left Victoria, she went to her classroom and, as usual, sat beside Lily. After some time, Mr. Smith entered the room and began his manipulation in the name of teaching history, which both Victoria and Lily didn't listen to. Lily, for obvious reasons, since she couldn't hear, and Victoria, because Jin Wei had already informed her about Mr. Smith and his motivations.

After the class was done, a new teacher entered the room. It wasn't Captain Aurora; it was a large, muscular bald man wearing a black military uniform. There were several medals on it, and his name was written just above his chest: Sergeant Cooper.

He is the same man who came to pick up Jin Wei on his enlistment day. Although he is weaker than Captain Aurora, he is one of the strongest sergeants out there. Now that most of the captains are missing for some unknown mission, the military selects Sergeant Cooper as the replenisher for Captain Aurora.

"Hello, brats, I am your new combat teacher. From now on, you will have to follow my every command, even if it kills you, until Captain Aurora returns from her mission," Cooper shouted with a strong posture, leaving an aura of domination.

Hearing this, everyone just gulped down their saliva in fear. After getting the treatment from Captain Aurora, no one dared to question Sergeant Cooper, fearing he might do the same if they questioned him.

But Victoria, on the other hand, was grinning. From today onward, she plans on giving her best when training so she can stay side-by-side with Jin Wei in the future. She believes that after coming out of the dungeon, Jin Wei will get stronger, so she plans on getting stronger to keep up with him, or she will be just left behind, something she doesn't wish to happen.

"All right, brats, follow me to the gym and again remember, don't ask any questions, just do what I told you to do," Cooper threatened, while everyone just nodded their heads, completely accepting their fate, and followed Cooper to the gym.

...

Meanwhile, in a dark, futuristic room with floating screens scattered throughout, a few men sat on chairs arranged around a round table, their faces tense.

Then suddenly, one of the bald men wearing a black hat spoke, breaking the silence, "So, how should we inform Captain Aurora?"

Hearing his question, everyone let out a deep sigh. Then another man with short curly hair spoke, "If we inform her about this, we would be dead, so it's best not to tell her."

"B-but… won't that be a betrayal, and what if she learns about this later after coming back? Will she even spare our family?" another said with frustration.

"F-fuck… this… that brat just had to endanger us all for his stupid actions. Who in their right mind would enter a dungeon with just one person, and that one person had to be a blind, weakling, woman?" The man wearing a black hat said in frustration.

"Should we send a few of our men with some mercenaries to search for him?" One suggested curiously.

If it was some other student who did the same as Jin Wei, they wouldn't have cared so much and left them to die. But Jin Wei is different; behind him is the so-called 'One-Eyed Crazy Witch,' who doesn't care about any rule and wouldn't mind killing someone like them. They are all discussing a possibility where they can survive.

"Yeah, that way even if he died, Captain Aurora will see that at least we tried to save her first personal disciples," the man with the black hat replied with a smile, but he was still sweating hard.

"Hah….. who are you kidding? You think that bitch would care about the effort we put in; she would blame us anyway and kill if her disciple died," a short Asian man said as he let out a deep breath.

"So what do you suggest we should do?" A black man asked with irritation.

"You think I know… you N****," the short Asian man shouted in anger.

"Haha!!! I can see your jealousy, 1-inch d*ck holder," the black man replied with a smirk.

But before a fight would break out, the man who sat in the middle shouted in anger, "Shut the fuck up!"

This man named Leo is also a sergeant just like Cooper. Even though they are also sergeants, among all the sergeants, few get most of the respect. Cooper and Leo are one of them.

Normally, Leo is an easygoing guy, but when he is angry, even Cooper needs to back down. Still, he is like an ant in front of Captain Aurora.

Hearing him shout, everyone shut down, not daring to offend him in any way.

Seeing everyone shut up, Leo let out a deep breath and said while a few drops of sweat were coming out of his forehead, "I know that you all are scared of that crazy bitch, not gonna lie, even I am scared."

Everyone looks down, not knowing what to say.

"But, what's happened… happened, we need to rescue him no matter what. So by tomorrow, I want you all to gather as many experienced bronze-rank cultivators as you can. Tell them that if they can't bring that kid back before Captain Aurora returns, they don't have to come back." Leo said with a cold and authoritative tone, while everyone just nodded with determination.

But then the bald man wearing a black hat raised his hand and said, "But Sergeant Leo, shouldn't we interrogate that kid's girlfriend first? She might know why that kid tried to enter the dungeon in the first place."

Everyone nodded at the suggestion. In just these few days, the relationship between the two most talented students admitted to the academy this year became a hot topic that everyone talks about. And these sergeants were no exceptions.

Although they usually don't mind some kids' relationships, Jin Wei and Victoria are very talented, so they have been keeping an eye on them. At first, they wanted to manipulate them into becoming puppets for the military.

On top of that, they didn't find any information about Jin Wei. It's like he suddenly appeared in the world out of nowhere and registered his age before the admissions. He was kind of mysterious, but not too much, since because of the war, the military can't keep an eye on all the citizens like they used to.

So they thought that Jin Wei might have been some orphan who lived on the street and hadn't registered himself before. But still, he was a mystery, and they wanted a real answer. What if he is a spy from the Vorax race?

But after Captain Aurora took Jin Wei as her student, they stopped their deeds and left the couple as they were.

"Tell me, even if we did know his motives, what's that gonna do to us? And about their relationship, it might be just a cover-up. Cause if not, he would have taken his girlfriend with him to that dungeon, not that blind girl," Leo replied casually. Now everyone was in deep thought.

"Then should we investigate that blind girl's background? We might find some information about Jin Wei." The short Asian guy asked.

Leo just let out a deep breath and nodded his head. "Do what you please, but finish the work I have given you first." Everyone just nodded their heads at his response.

"Okay the meeting is dismissed, you can go back," Leo said and got up from his seat and went out of the room. After he left everyone followed suit.
