Chapter 2: Chapter 1. Three Complaints
Two months before the accident
"Fang Xiaolu, this is the third parent complaint you've received this month. If this continues, I don't think you need to come to work anymore," scolded a middle-aged woman with black-rimmed glasses and impeccably combed hair, her face stern.
The girl named Fang Xiaolu lowered her head, bowing repeatedly like a chicken pecking at grains.
"I'm sorry, Principal Zhou. I'll pay more attention next time. No, there won't be a next time."
"I'll give you one last chance, but your salary will be reduced by 30% this month."

"Oh no, break time is over. Quickly, let's go back to the class; the children are waking up." Fang Xiaolu checked the clock on the wall. Indeed, nap time had ended.
"Xiao Tian, wait for me after work. Let's take the bus together." Fang Xiaolu said while quickly heading towards the children's rest area. If she were caught by the principal again, she might really not be able to stay here.
Fang Xiaolu and Xiao Tian worked as teachers at a kindergarten called "Happy Childhood." These two girls, with average family backgrounds, quickly became close friends who shared everything.
In Xiao Tian's eyes, Fang Xiaolu was like a happy Cinderella. She wasn't tall, with big eyes, a delicate mouth, and unadorned shiny black hair tied into a simple high ponytail. Although not exceptionally beautiful, she always carried a warm and sunny personality, making friends with her felt joyful every day.
According to Fang Xiaolu herself, being a kindergarten teacher was her eighth job. She had been a supermarket manager, a department store salesperson, an accounting assistant at a trading company, and even worked as a janitor in an office building during the worst of times. Almost every job she took ended in failure, making her seem like a quirky elf. However, these numerous setbacks couldn't change her optimistic attitude toward life.
Watching parents gradually pick up their children from the kindergarten, Fang Xiaolu happily snapped her fingers. The day's work was finally over.
"Xiao Tian, let's go. I'll take you to the food stall for some snacks. I went there with Junwei once, and the stir-fried snails are delicious."
Xiao Tian, being pulled by Fang Xiaolu, managed to squeeze onto a bus.
"Hey, Fang Xiaolu, no matter how I look at you, you don't seem like someone who just had her salary cut. Why are you so happy?"
"Xiao Tian, without money, I can earn it back next month. My life motto is to enjoy every day happily. You know, I have a wish. When I save enough money, I want to travel to a beautiful place. It's so beautiful there."
