Chapter 142: Contacted by Steve Rogers
As i was beginning to check the terraforming satellites i received a call from Aurélie, saying that someone was calling me by the name of Steve Rogers, using the phone that Fury gave me. Sighing I quickly dumped the process of checking the satellites to Kali who was perplexed by my sudden changes but easily did what i said, her confusion fading into the background of her mind as she wanted to help me out.
I picked up the phone in my house a moment later as i was now in my kitchen.
"Yes, Captain America yes?"
"Yes mam, you can call me that. I am ringing you because Fury said that you would most likely know what is going on or be able to find out?"
"I see..."
'Winter soldier wasn't meant to happen for a few years... Maybe my presence accelerated it?'
"Where can i meet you?"
"Give me a moment..."
I closed my eyes and quickly tracked the phone signal to the phone he was currently using. It was very easy with my eyes as I immediately pulled Steve through a portal and out into my house, stumbling to his knees as he was thrust here so suddenly.
"There we are. Now, you have something to ask me or talk to me about?" I was seriously over people's bullshit at this moment and just wanted to be left alone after the attempted murder of me and my loved ones.
"Ughh, remind me never to accept a dinner proposal from you..." He stood up, his shield strapped to his back as his suit was torn in several locations. In his hand was a phone that looked like an exact copy of the one Fury had given me. I pulled out some drinks from the fridge with my force powers and quickly poured myself one, leaving the juice on the counter for him to pour for himself if he wanted to.
"Miss Emelia, i do not know of you but since Fury trusted you, you can be said to be trust worthy. What is currently going on in Shield? Why is there a soldier with a metallic arm chasing me and what is up with the modern world!?" He seemed more than a little pissed off, confused and thrown around... I mean, i don't blame him, he was only recently pulled from the ice and given his suit and shield back, now he has to deal with Hydra straight away followed by the New York Incident? I would have usually felt for him but as i said before, i was over it.
"Hydra, they have come back... They have assaulted me as well, even deployed nukes against me. As for the metal-armed soldier, well he is your friend Bucky Barns, just mind controlled by Hydra. As for the modern world, let's just say that it isn't as stable as you maybe think it should be and that it is a den for villainy and corruption."
He looked completely downtrodden as he continued to listen his face darkening into a moody contemplation. People usually forgot that he was just a soldier not some walking idol of America, he was a forged hero and, as he sees it, should have died one in WW2. That doesn't matter much anymore anyway, he was now in the deep end, before he was ready to be and probably required some aid to help him get to the level where he can stop Bucky.
'I'll deal with the roots of Hydra and the Triskelion... I'm quite sure some of their paper files will be interesting.'
"Steve, you are not properly equipped to fight Bucky at this moment. I will help you by boosting your physical powers and adding some magic to your shield."
"Any assistance would be appreciated, but i am still confused... Why did Fury send me to you?"
"Oh! That! Yeah, he ain't dead. He's alive a kicking, reason to send you to me, well, probably because I'm the most powerful being he knows and could probably figure some way of getting you to him in extreme circumstances."
He scratched his a little before nodding, his facial features completely blank of emotion, as if he had entered soldier mode.
"Okay, well please help me in whatever way you can and send me to him... He is the one caring for the love of my life after all"
'Shit! I can heal her as well, maybe they can get their happy-ever-after.'
"Understandable. Here, stand still, i won't take more than a minute."
Using my Rune magic an Techno Runes I imbued several small maintenance features to his shield and suit, boosting strength, dexterity and constitution of the one who wore it whilst giving the shield the option to emanate an energy shield to protect people in front of him. The shield could withstand a couple of Hulk's punches before failing and could be used in conjunction with his throws to surprise enemies.
Next thing i did was to create a small amount of Isotope-8 and throw it at him, the crystalline material merging with his skin and boosting his power forever by a mediocre margin. He was strong enough to easily beat Bucky now so i wasn't concerned. I then tracked down Fury using Himari's scan of the internet and video broadcast, a slight mistake being made in a store in Texas, Fury's secretary was seen getting food with a few other agents in the background.
I then teleported with Steve to that store and quickly moved out of the store, my eyes tracing down the thread of the woman i had seen. I began to walk in the direction of the thread's end, Steve following behind as he showed confusion to the teleportation and apparent confidence i had in finding the best spy in the world.
Ten minutes passed as we walked across the top of a dam, finding stairways down below where I hurriedly knocked on a steel door that was at the end of the stairs, sick of todays' nonsense.
I felt the presence of several people past the door, a single person getting closer before opening up a small eye slit on the other side of the door.
"Password..."
"Fury is a little bitch 666... Now open up the door before my angelic ass huffs and puffs and kicks it in."
"Language..."
I turned around and glared at Steve, staring him down as he awkwardly looked to the side. The man on the inside was blown away by my audacity but was quickly replaced by a woman with brown hair and green-brown eyes.
"You can come through, Fury is waiting for you both."
"Good, I have some fucking questions for him..."
