Chapter 27: BARRIERS.

CHAPTER 27: BARRIERS.

Detective Savannah was done from the bathroom, and she headed to her bedroom.Trying to get dressed, the doorbell rang but she ignored it. Moreover she wasn't expecting anyone.

But she heard the doorbell rang the second time. "Who could that be?"

She quickly dressed up and ran downstairs.

She got to the door and she peeped through the peephole, she saw it was her long time friend Kyle. They had been friends right before her parent's demise.

"Oh, it's you, come in," she said as she opened the door and he got in.

"What are you doing in my house by this time of the day?" Detective Savannah asked Kyle.

"How did you know I was home? Because you know my work schedule very well, it's not always predictable," she said.

"I wasn't coming to your house specifically, I was just passing by, and I decided to come check up on you," Kyle said placing both hands in his pocket.

"I hope that wasn't a bad idea?" Kyle asked.

"No, not at all," Detective Savannah responded.

"Come have a sit," she said gesturing her hand as she offered him a seat, and she sat down as well.

"So, how have you been?" Kyle asked looking straight at detective Savannah's face.

"Am good," she responded as she adjusted herself from her sitting position making sure she's properly covered.

"How are you doing too?" she asked Kyle.

"Am good as always," Kyle responded as he looked round the house.

"You're here all by yourself," Kyle said in a caring tone.pl

"Yeah, but I'm not usually home. Always busy with work, so I don't feel the loneliness," she responded smiling softly.

"Mm, I see," Kyle said and sighed softly.

"Will you be free tomorrow after work? I'd like for us to go grab a drink."

"Nah, I'll be kinda busy tomorrow," she calmly declined his request.

"Okay, how about we make it today then, since we're already here?" Kyle asked looking at Detective Savannah, awaiting her response.

"No way, I was attending to something very important before you came. I'd like to get back to what I was doing," she declined.

Kyle sighed frustratedly. "We have been friends for a long time now and I have been asking you out on a date but you keep declining my request.'

"When will you ever allow me to take you out on a dinner date?" he asked sounding so frustrated. "Am I not good for you?"

"You are a good man, but at the moment I'm not ready for such commitment," she said. "I think we should talk some other day,"

She indirectly asked him to leave.

Kyle nodded his head and stood up adjustig himself. "Some other day then."

He opened the door and exited her house.

Detective Savannah shut the door as Kyle left, shoving aside what she considered unimportant.

_________

Mr Bishop and Justin were done having dinner and they both retired for the night to their rooms.

"He's smart, just as I am," he said in admiration, chuckling softly.

"Am glad to finally have him in my life," Mr Bishop said, sighing.

Justin also laid in his bed facing up, as several thoughts ran through his mind things he would do if he finally became the CEO of Cap Industries.

"Do you think this it a good idea if I became the CEO, this soon?" Justin asked himself.

"Yes of course, it's a good idea," he answered himself rhetorically, as he chuckled softly.

Justin knew it was going to be a major change in his life. Hell, it was way more than a dream come true. If he accepted, he was going to live the life he never even dreamt of living anytime soon.

He picked his phone and flipped through the galleria, looking at his former pictures and the ones he took with Geoffrey, his nephew.

His thoughts flashed back to when he took those pictures with Geoffrey. Those were memories he'd cherish, as that was the only time he felt accepted by the Adams, the people whom he should have considered family. But it all turned out differently.

He heard a knock on his door, "Come in," he said excitedly.

Frank emerged from behind the door, wearing an eerie smile, making Justin uncomfortable.

"Is there anything you'd need, master Justin?" Frank asked.

"Um, nope. I have everything I need," Justin answered.

"Alright sir," Frank responded. "But if you need anything, do let me know."

"Sure."

Frank bowed, and exited the room.

"He's overly zealous," Justin remarked, shrugging off Frank's incessant press to make him comfortable.

_______

Joey had arrived his house that evening, and was still bothered about the Justin's visit to Cap Industries.

He needed to pour out his contemplations to about the matter. Who else, better than his mom?

"Hey Mom, you will not believe what I just saw," he said with no salutation.

"What was it?" Magdalene asked, not minding that he didn't bother to greet her.

"I saw Justin, at our company. And he was walking with my boss, Newton Bishop himself."

"Really? What was he doing with him?" Magdalene asked.

"Well, am sure he applied as an intern, and was following him around," Joey said.

"Well then, you need not bother yourself about that good for nothing boy. He can never outshine you. He's a nobody, and a nobody shall he always be," Magdalene said.

"You're absolutely right," Joey nodded, "He's a nobody."

"I hope you're doing okay?" Magdalene asked.

"Sure I am. Catch you later," Joey said, ending the call. He was more reassured after the call not to read more meaning to what he saw than that.

_________

Justin found it hard to get some well deserved sleep. He was way too hyped about the future he was surely about to enter. Eventually, he got thirsty.

He thought about reaching out to Frank via the telephone in his room, but he saw that the time was a bit late. So instead, he went to go get the water himself.

As he got out of his room, heading there, he saw Mr Bishop, dressed in an all black attire like the other night he had seen him. He was escorted out by Gomez.

'Where does he usually go to by this time of the night, dressed up that way?' Justin wondered, reasoning within himself.
