Chapter 41: A New Lifeform?

Due to the lack of windows, the inside of the power room was quite dim, with only the sunlight filtering through the narrow iron door providing enough light to barely make out the interior.

In the dark corners around some electrical equipment and inside small rooms, it was still dark, and Seth's pupils had not yet adjusted to the dim environment, allowing him to see only some flickering small points of light.

Seth didn't dare to be careless. He placed his handgun within easy reach and gripped the machete tightly, cautiously stepping into the power room.

The first thing that caught Seth's eye was a dried pool of blood on the ground. Judging by the color of the bloodstains, they seemed to have been there for quite some time.

Following the bloodstains, Seth could see that the dragged blood marks led towards a small room beside the power room.

Seth held the machete tightly, unaware that a layer of fine cold sweat had formed on his forehead.

The power room was too eerie, and the faint smell of blood and decay in the room gave Seth the illusion of stepping into a horror movie scene.

Especially after just experiencing the monster's ambush, he always felt that in such a thrilling environment, some other creature might pounce on him from behind again!

The door to the small room was slightly ajar. Seth hid behind the wall next to the door and gently pushed the wooden door open with the machete.

There was no movement inside, nor did any monsters leap out as he had imagined. However, Seth could smell a faint stench of decay.

Retreating two steps, Seth held the knife with both hands, extremely vigilant as he looked inside the room.

The sight inside made Seth gasp in shock!

A corpse, gnawed and blurred with blood and flesh, lay collapsed on the floor. One of the corpse's thighs had turned into a pile of bones, and the neck seemed to have been bitten by something, with the surrounding flesh already rotting. There was a large patch of bloodstains, and the white walls and electrical box were splattered with blood.

A foul stench hit Seth in the face.

What horrified Seth even more was the sight of a pile of bones and three skulls next to the corpse!

"What exactly happened here?"

Seth looked at the pile of bones, his hand holding the knife trembling slightly.

This was definitely not the work of zombies!

Zombies could never clean the flesh off the bones so thoroughly!

The partially eaten corpse was also in a much better state of preservation compared to the other bodies in the villa.

Clearly, this person had not been dead for long.

Seth suddenly thought of a possibility...

Could it be that the zombie he had just encountered was keeping these people as food to consume slowly?

That seemed unlikely!

Although that zombie was smarter than ordinary ones, it wasn't particularly strong in combat...

Or perhaps...

The people trapped here had survived by eating their companions, one by one?

Whichever possibility it was, it sent chills down Seth's spine.

"Whimper, whimper~~~~"

Just then, a faint, weak whining sound came through.

Seth, with a furrowed brow and on high alert, cautiously continued towards the sound.

In a corner behind an electrical box in the power room, Seth found the source of the noise!

A baby!

More precisely, a monstrous baby!

However, this half-human, half-monster baby looked incredibly cute!

Even more endearing than a normal human baby.

There was no sign of any aggressiveness.

Like the female monster he had just killed, this little creature had pale blue skin and adorable, large red-pupiled eyes.

The baby was completely hairless, but its ears were pointed, giving the impression of a dark elf from a fantasy video game.

Seeing Seth, the little monster, who seemed to have just woken up, immediately crawled out of a pile of clothes, giggling and crawling towards Seth.

It was then that Seth noticed the creature had a hairless tail.

Furthermore, judging by the exposed reproductive organs, it appeared to be female... or rather, a female little monster...

The gleaming blade of the knife hovered in front of the little creature, who seemed completely unaware of the danger and continued to smile sweetly and innocently at Seth.

With just one swing of his blade, Seth could end the life of this bizarre-looking little creature.

The lurking female monster...

The recently deceased, gnawed male corpse...

Plus the pile of bones, and now this adorable little creature...

All these clues suddenly connected in Seth's mind.

The raised machete paused in mid-air, unable to descend.

"Alright, I'll spare your life. After all, you're just a baby, and you've done nothing wrong."

Looking at the little creature, who seemed affectionate yet somewhat fearful of him, Seth sighed softly and turned to leave the room, gently closing the door behind him.

He chose not to kill the little creature, but he wouldn't let it go either.

Being of a different kind, Seth didn't know what this little creature might eventually become.

If he let her go and she attacked him or Cecilia, it would be too late for regrets.

Seth wasn't a bloodthirsty maniac, but he was also not a foolishly naive saint.

After checking the last remaining battery room, Seth finally felt reassured and began to inspect the entire power room's wiring.

The generator set was located within the power room and was functioning properly without any issues.

Seth also checked the power box, battery storage, and wiring, finding no damage. Everything was operational, and the batteries in the storage were even fully charged.

So, the problem must be either with the power switch being turned off or external circuit damage.

Based on Seth's experience in fixing household electrical circuits, the issue was likely with the power switch.

Seth silently prayed that it wasn't a damaged circuit.

With his electrical skills, plus the current environment, reconnecting a damaged circuit would be virtually impossible.
