Chapter 62: The truth

Anna couldn't recognize her own voice, groaning and gasping for air, enjoying his tease. This was the first time he was so gentle. Weirdly uncomfortable feelings filled her abdomen, this kind of slow stimulation made her silently beg for more.

With an arched back and a convulsive grip on his nape, she tried to cling to him tighter, even when it made her feel like her core was about to burst.

"No! Retreat!" The only priest in the group grabbed their leader's shoulder and made him stop, "We don't have enough people for this one." Ivan whispered, all disturbed.

As he was able to see his true strength thanks to abilities he awakened just a few weeks ago, he knew damn well their only hope was to disappear quietly and far away from here.

It was overwhelming, like a strange force spreading from his location, forcing him to turn around and run for his life.

"They are busy, it will be easy." Thomas snapped at him half-loudly. Year. He is playing for a year and already lost all his savings. They need a fat paycheck and that monster half hidden in the long grass was a perfect target.

"No. That's a High Orc. He will shut you off on one hit."

"There are still twelve of us left and everything he possesses must have a great value, we can -"

"We will be all dead! If you really want to try your luck tonight, you will do it without me." Ivan groaned angrily, betting everything on his reputation as a great strategizer. But before Thomas gave him the reply, his eyes widened and then popped out of his face, followed by the brain and shards of skull.

Ivan froze on the spot, completely terrified. It was barely half a minute before he lost sight of their enemy.

The glade where they noticed him earlier was empty. Except for - a woman's pale figure shining in the dark like a pearl, kneeling in the circle of compacted grass and flowers.

But the Orc was standing right in front of him, with a blank expression and the remains of his leader's head in his left palm after he crushed it like a nut.

"Where the fuck did you just dare to look?" Bugak's voice reached him just moments before his bloodied hand did.

But this time, it was not as fast and merciless as with Thomas.

Dread enveloped him when warm, thick fingers clenched on his jaw and pulled, twisting and tearing his flesh and crushing his bone.

The pain was blinding.

Ivan tried to scream, with only half of his face left intact.

Somehow he was able to notice the brutal skirmish that erupted right after his peers braced themself and finally tried to resist. To avenge the death of their leader and priest. And to fall by their side.

Wheezing and crying on the ground, he finally noticed the Orc approaching him again, glad he would be kind enough to finish what he started.

Oh god, he was so wrong.

"You saw her, right? Yes, yes you did." Bugak muttered before he blinded him and left his twitching body behind.

So happy he managed not to get his right hand dirty, eager to return to his needy woman. This time, hopefully without any distractions.

Anna greeted him with shining eyes and a wide smile.
