Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Acting without a Plan B

Cecilia's POV

Through the thick bushes, dark rough paths, and wet mud, I ran back to my tent but the route look longer and endless because I have been running for minutes yet I haven't seen any shape of the house structures.

I was breathing heavily and trembling in fear. I could already guess what Henry would do to me if he caught me. I had embarrassed him publicly, on his birthday, he might even kill me if I wasn't careful.

I looked back, hoping to check if his guards were catching up with me rather I saw him, he was with them, they had already transformed into their wolves while he ran in the middle of them.

"Goodness!" I gasped out of fear and increased my running speed.

I could hear his voice from behind charging them to increase their speed and make sure they catch me.

I couldn't hide or stop running because the wet grass made paths and sounds whenever I moved, it was easier for them to trace me. I had no other thought than to flee - far away from them.

I was engrossed in my thought that I didn't see what was on the ground until I stumbled on it, crashing on the ground.

"I need to run." They were closed, I was scared but I had to encourage my wolf. We don't have to be lazy and tired in this state, my thigh had a sharp cut from the stick and I was bleeding, it was painful but I didn't wince. All I wanted to do was to save my life.

I tried to stand but I couldn't, I began crawling on the ground, scrubbing my leg and hands while surging forward.

"Thank the moon goddess." A gasp escaped from my mouth and I smiled brightly as I saw a thatched house before me. There was a small candle that didn't create too much light.

It was time to rest and hide away from him.

I haven't finished my statement in my mind when a hard hand rested on my shoulder.

"Catch you." He groaned and I gradually faced him.

I screamed at the top of my lung, I knew it was of no use since we were in the deep woods but out of fear, I let my frantic emotion out.

"Please - -" My lips were trembling. "Please, forgive me," I begged pitifully, with my hands in the air and my face lowered.

I knew he could be quite annoying but all wolves had a soft side, they aren't totally brutal but he proved my imagination wrong.

He grabbed me on the neck and lift me, I was choking and struggling until I was no longer feeling the ground, his muscles pumped and his eyes became bloody.

With full force, he pushed me away and I crashed into the corner of the thatched house.

"Ouch!" I winced in pain. I was so tired and in pain. I wished I was in a dream and all these would stop when I woke up, I closed my eyes briefly and opened but everything was the same. This was a nightmare.

"Was this how I was going to die?" I mumbled to myself in a low voice as he approached me.

Suddenly, there was a rare scent that penetrated through my nose. My inner wolf became giddy and excited rather than being in pain, I started having a kind of feeling that was indescribable.

I lifted my head in his direction and we locked our gaze unexpectedly.

"Mate?" We both muttered at the same time.

I didn't know where the energy came from and I stood up.

"You are my mate?" He was in doubt and astonishment but I didn't react.

Other ladies my age would be so blessed and excited to finally find their mates but I wasn't at all. I was annoyed that I found him and he was my worst enemy.

"You are my - -" He attempted to touch me but my glare became intent.

I wasn't willing to accept this mateship. Rather than accepting him as I mate, I wish to become mate-less or even dead.

"I can never be your mate." I spat at his face seriously, at first he was taken aback then he later approached him.

"We are mates, how can you deny it?" He grinned devilishly and I smirked.

"Do you think anything is possible between us? Even as strangers, we are enemies. Do you want us to kill ourselves in the name of being mates?" I questioned him in annoyance and he laughed a belly laugh. He wasn't someone that took things seriously and accepting to be his mate was the worse decision I would ever make in my life.

"At this point, you have no voice or right to do anything. You are my mate and that's final!" He was so determined to claim me. Maybe he was happy that he had rightfully gotten a punching bag but I wasn't up for it.

"Henry Klaus, I, Cecilia Henderson, reject you as my mate. Never to cross paths with you, never to look at your face, never to lay with you and never to love you. This vow is broken." I said seriously, staring at his restless eyes intently.

I didn't ache much because we weren't close, we had no beautiful memories that would make the rejection difficult to severe.

Shortly, he grabbed my arm. "And do you think I would let you leave?" He growled at my face. His eyes filled with lust and ill intention.

I struggled to step away from him but he overpowered me.

"What do you want? Let go of me!" I cried out.

"Do you think you can bluntly reject me? Do you even have that right?!" He sneered at my face disdainfully.

"The earlier I do this, the better because I don't want anything to do with you! I can't be mated to a filthy man." I spat at his face, abruptly and his hard hand rested on my cheek.

My eyes bright open in shock. "Henry?" I was surprised but he wasn't affected. He was looking bolder and angry.

"If you don't want to accept me, then I would make you do that by force!" He said, pulling me to his chest. He embraced me so hard that I couldn't breathe.

"Henry! You wicked brute, let go of me!" I punched his chest, struggling out of him but he didn't budge.
