Chapter 62: Decision of Leaving
When Anping woke up the next day, he discovered Gu Yuena lying beside him and promptly used magic to examine his memories. After the assessment, he was shocked and hastily sat up, overwhelmed with embarrassment.
Gu Yuena, roused by Anping's actions, observed the regretful expression on his face. She stood up, playfully poked Anping's cheek, and said with a smile, "Remembering yesterday's escapade?"
Upon realizing that Gu Yuena was awake, Anping swiftly apologized, "I'm sorry, genuinely sorry."
Amused by Anping's demeanor, Gu Yuena smiled even more, "You transform after a drink. By the way, you sing surprisingly well. If you ever perform in a concert, many people might come to watch."
Anping inquired with skepticism, "So, you're not angry?"
Gu Yuena shook her head gently, remarking, "Angry? Not at all. I simply didn't expect you to have such a lively side. There's a closing ceremony in the afternoon, so get up quickly."
Indeed, nothing untoward occurred between them. Anping woke up during the journey back to the hotel, and upon regaining consciousness, he insisted on taking over the driver's seat from the Spirit Pagoda-arranged driver. Aware of Leng Yaozhu's affiliation, the driver wisely yielded. Leng Yaozhu, witnessing Anping's antics, found herself torn between exasperation and genuine concern.
Upon returning to the hotel, Leng Yaozhu, claiming to have urgent matters, left after handing Anping over to Gu Yuena. Without a steering wheel to contend for and lacking stability, Anping resorted to dragging Gu Yuena along to engage in a singing session, complete with magical illusions to enhance the atmosphere.
Xie Xie was startled when he entered the room but didn't linger long as Anping promptly shooed him away. Left with no alternative, Xie Xie ended up sharing a room with Tang Wulin for the night.
It wasn't until the latter part of the night, after expending all his magic and soul power, that Anping finally lay down with Gu Yuena to sleep. Before drifting off, he tightly clasped her hand and refused to let go.
Now, Anping harbored only one thought: regret—deep and profound. Despite being a wizard, he failed to check his alcohol immunity.
As the doorbell rang, the two quickly roused themselves from the bed. When Gu Yuena opened the door, she found Xu Xiaoyan, her roommate. However, since yesterday, Gu Yuena hadn't seen her, and all attempts at communication had failed. Consequently, Xu Xiaoyan sought Anping's explanation for the situation.
Observing the disarray in the room, Xu Xiaoyan blushed and said with embarrassment, "Sister Nana, what happened yesterday?"
Gu Yuena rolled her eyes and retorted irritably, "At your age, what are you thinking about all the time? Why do you resemble that Xie Xie so much?"
"Just curious, that's all. Yes, curious." Xu Xiaoyan nodded, feigning innocence.
Gu Yuena chose not to elaborate and pulled Xu Xiaoyan toward their room.
The afternoon closing ceremony primarily involved award presentations, photo sessions, and official speeches. With that, the Skysea alliance competition concluded flawlessly.
The only surprising development was the event officials and Zhang Zhenpeng, the dean of Sea and Land College, seeking out Anping and Gu Yuena to offer apologies for the earlier incidents and provide compensation.
The presence of Heavenly Phoenix Douluo had exerted immense pressure on them. Although the identity wasn't publicly disclosed, the acknowledgment of it left no room to pretend the esteemed figure hadn't made an appearance.
As he prepared to depart for Eastsea City, Wu Zhangkong, who had been absent for several days, finally reappeared. Long Hengxu, sporting a bright smile, pulled Wu Zhangkong aside and expressed, "Teacher Wu, congratulations to Class Zero for clinching the championship in the three-person team competition of the youth group. I believe this achievement will prompt the school to increase its investment, especially in Anping and Gu Yuena."
Wu Zhangkong nodded calmly, stating, "I have outlined the requirements before. The key is to maintain the same dietary regimen as during the competition."
"Alright, alright, your contribution is invaluable, I'm sure of it." Long Hengxu nodded.
In recent years, Eastsea Academy's performance in the Skysea League competition hadn't been particularly satisfactory. Upon returning to the academy, another grand ceremony celebrated Class Zero's victory.
In the ensuing days, Class Zero embarked on another demanding training regimen. Since Wu Zhangkong had granted Anping and Gu Yuena academic freedom, they abstained from the so-called training tasks.
Anping's daily routine involved traversing between the library, the Spirit Pagoda, and the dormitory. Gu Yuena dedicated most of her time to soul-related studies in the Spirit Tower, occasionally taking Anping out for recreation.
As the semester neared its end, the academy didn't relent in investing in Class Zero. Due to Anping and Gu Yuena's connection, the academy reduced its expenditure on the Spirit Ascension Platform.
Wu Zhangkong gathered everyone from Class Zero, including Anping and Gu Yuena, and declared, "This final exam will once again be on the Spirit ascension Platform, as it is not during the riot period. My requirement for you is to stay on the Spirit ascension Platform for one day."
At this point, Anping stood up and announced, "Teacher Wu, Gu Yuena and I won't be participating. After this semester concludes, we plan to leave Eastsea Academy."
Wu Zhangkong inquired with confusion, "Leave? Where are you going?"
Hearing Anping's unexpected announcement of leaving Eastsea Academy, everyone was puzzled.
Focused attention honed in on the duo. Even Xu Xiaoyan, close to Gu Yuena, was taken aback, asking in confusion, "Sister Nana, are you really leaving? Where to?"
Gu Yuena affirmed, "Yes, we won't be able to further enhance our strength if we remain in Eastsea Academy. Thus, we're headed to Mingdu."
Hearing Mingdu mentioned, Wu Zhangkong's tone grew colder, "Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy? Have they reached out to you?"
When Gu Yuena brought up Mingdu, Wu Zhangkong immediately associated it with the Sun and Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy contacting them for recruitment. However, to his surprise, Anping shook his head slightly and explained, "No, I initiated contact with them. I've always been more interested in soul guidance devices, so the Sun and Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy seems more fitting for me. As for Gu Yuena..."
Gu Yuena continued Anping's explanation, "As I mentioned, we possess martial soul fusion skills, and naturally, we should collaborate."
"Since you've made the decision to leave, whether or not you take the exam this time doesn't matter. Given your standing in the Spirit Pagoda, you will undoubtedly seize the opportunity to access the Spirit Ascending Platform. As for matters concerning the academy, discuss them amongst yourselves," Wu Zhangkong nodded, his tone retaining its chilly demeanor.
"Let's go." With those words, Wu Zhangkong waved his hand, signaling for Tang Wulin and the others to follow him. Tang Wulin and Xie Xie promptly trailed behind. Only Xu Xiaoyan reluctantly embraced Gu Yuena before parting ways.
The reason for Anping's decision to depart Eastsea City stemmed from the diminishing incentives offered by the Eastsea academy Library. If not for considerations related to cultivation, Anping still appreciated the ambiance of Eastsea City.
