Chapter 5: Return Home
As soon as the creature fell asleep the little girl started to panic slightly and turned to look towards her parents and asked with worry and doubt laced in her voice.
"Momma, w-what happened to it? Is it okay? What do we do?" The little girl started to rapid fire questions towards her mother, who in turn just smiled at her daughter and started to reassure her.
"Don't worry little Moon, The baby is just asleep. It must have been very tired, after all it seemed to have gone through something painful in order for it to be covered in blood. However since it's fine now and it feels that it is safe since it relaxed its guard and was able to fall asleep." Pandora lightly rubbed her knuckles against her daughter's cheek and then looked towards the creature on the ground.
"T-then what are we gonna do? C-can we take it with us?" Luna asked with a hopeful look and stars shining in her eyes as she looked at her parents.
With the look that their daughter gave them Xenophilius and Pandora shared a look with each other and slightly shook their heads and gave each other wry smiles. Then Xenophilius smiled at his daughter and told her, "We can take it with us sweetie, however you will have to be the one to take care of it. Feed it, and make sure it feels welcomed. Are you able to do that?"
Hearing the question, Luna nodded her head up and down repeatedly and stood up tall and said with a serious look on her face, "I can do it Momma, Daddy. I will take care of it well." After she finished speaking her attention went back to the creature on the ground no longer paying attention to her parents.
After hearing their daughter's confirmation the two parents smiled at the cute look that their daughter had when she looked so serious towards them and how easily her attention was diverted.
Xenophilius and Pandora looked towards each other and seemed to be communicating with each other with their eyes and after they seemed to have a conversation for a while before they came to a decision.
Then Pandora kneeled next to her daughter and placed her hand on her daughter's head and slowly rubbed it and placed her other hand and rubbed the creature's head as well. She took a look at the creature to determine its gender.
Then she seemed to gather her words for a moment and then spoke softly, "Alright Moon, we can take her with us, she will be part of our family from now on. Is that okay with you?"
"Hmm Hmm." Luna nodded her head up and down in excitement and proclaimed proudly, "Yes! She will be my sister from now on! Mom, What are we gonna name her? Does she already have a name?"
At this time Xenophilius kneeled down as well and placed his hand over his wife's and said to his daughter, "Well sweetie, we need to wait until she wakes up before we come to any decisions about that."
"Why daddy?" Luna tilted her head in curiosity as she looked at her father.
"Well sweetie, we need to wait for her to wake up because we don't know if she already has a name or not." Xenophilius chuckled towards his daughter and continued to speak, "Even if she doesn't have a name, we need to wait until she wakes up to give her one. We don't want to give her a name that she doesn't like now do we?"
"Nuh-uh." Luna shook her head from side to side showing her stance on the matter. Then she continued to stroke the creature and spoke to it in a soft voice in order to not wake it up, "Hello there, my name is Luna Lovegood. I don't know what your name is yet because daddy said to wait until you wake up to ask about that so I need to wait for that. That doesn't matter though. Mommy said from now on we are gonna be family. So I decided that you will be my sister from now on."
Pandora and Xenophilius looked lovingly at their daughter who was having a serious conversation with the creature on the ground and their hearts warmed at the adorableness of the sight before them. Pandora even started to coo slightly at the sight of her daughter.
"So since we are going to be family that means you are going to live with us, our home is very nice. I think that you might like it, I have a very big room, my bed is big as well so I think that we can both fit on it. I have a lot of stuffed animals that we can play with. Of course as I am obviously gonna be the big sister, I can let you play with them with me." Luna said, puffing her chest out with pride as she proclaimed all her possessions that she thought the creature would like.
Pandora chuckled and shook her head in mirth at the adorableness of her baby girl.
At this time the creature stuck out its tongue and softly licked Luna's hand and at that Luna beamed brightly and rubbed her small face against the furry stomach of the creature in happiness.
At that time the sun started to slowly rise above the horizon, and the three members of the family watched with a fascination at one of the constant miracles of nature that appear every day.
Soon the sun had fully appeared and the family sighed and started to gather their things and prepared to return to their home.
After all their things were gathered and stored inside of Xenophilius' storage pouch, Pandora caressed the creature that she was holding in her arms and looked at Luna telling her softly, "My little Moon, it's time for us to return home and get some rest. We can also get things prepared for this little one so that she can have comfort once she awakens."
Luna hopped up and down nodding her head in acceptance and began to follow her parents as they trekked back down the hill that they were on, after reaching the bottom they entered a car that had been waiting for them down there Xenophilius sat in the drivers seat while Luna and Pandora sat in the back with the creature in Pandora's arms.
After driving for a while they came upon the site of their home, sitting upon a hill with a stream at the base sat a tower reaching into the sky, shaped like a piece upon the chessboard, a majestic black rook. Looking upon the sight before him Xenophilius let out a soft smile and spoke softly to the two in the back.
"We're home."
