Chapter 49: I want to be King

Eldric smiled bitterly, Eleanor's blast had pushed him closer to the black gate than he would have liked. Some of the vines warping around his body had taken the bunt of the skill and now it was hung on him like tattered armor.

"You are strong Eleanor but that's only in Havenbrook, in larger cities you are as common as the donkey!" Eldric moved backward, minding the gate of darkness behind him.

Eleanor shrugged. "I know I'm not at the level of those at true high levels but right here, right now. I'm the most powerful here."

"That's true. We can talk this through, you don't have to kill me and create trouble with yourself and the Holy Church." Eldric managed a smile but it came out strained. "You can even partner with us. I'm sure the Holy Church would want to support the Second Prince."

Eleanor shook her head. "The Holy Church rose to power due to the weakness of the King. You will soon be cut down to sizes."
