Chapter 4: Chapter-4 Worldview and Magic Powers
''Don't worry. I know you will awaken a good element with high affinity," Jay encouraged Alex. Alex replied with a smile and refrained from commenting on that.
Alex's parents were non-awakeners. Not everybody successfully awakens the elements when they turn the required age. To successfully awaken, one needs to be at least 14 years old.
After turning 14, anybody can use the awakener stone to proceed with awakening. But these stones are strictly under the control of the Government.
Even though the cities are under the control of high-tier families, the true ruler is the Government; they are also called the Royalty. After the doomsday when the mana descended, the structure of the Earth changed several times.
Earth went through a complete change and the size increased by more than 10 times the previous one. The distance between cities increased once again and monsters started to roam all around the places.
The 7 continents lost contact with each other soon enough due to the destruction of all the electrical devices after the mana descended. The descent of mana came only two years after the Black Day.
The mutation among the monsters spread at an alarming rate and humanity started to lose against them. Even though there were awakeners who started to appear one after another, the number of monsters was far higher than them.
It didn't take long for humans to surrender and run away from the cities. The government deployed missiles to wipe out a lot of monsters. But as the evolution was progressing, those weapons had no effect on the monsters' skin.
Different governments started to build safe zones after gathering the survivors and awakeners. That's how they were able to survive for a few decades, but things changed after the number of awakeners started to increase.
Mankind was able to use mana and create magical technologies which assisted them in the battle against monsters. Humanity permanently lost contact with many countries during those few decades of isolation.
Currently, the known continents where humans live are Asia, Europe, America, and Australia. Australia and Africa have the smallest population among the remaining five.
Australia was in the middle of the ocean and had to face off against a slaughter of monsters from all directions. The most attacks of the monsters came from the ocean all around them.
Africa had the most monsters due to having the biggest forest. So they were completely wiped out from the surface of Earth while America barely survived which was still standing.
Asia had the most population because of having many countries in that region. They were the first ones to build the safe zone in that apocalypse.
There are 5 countries in the Asia as of now. They are known as,
-Red Mountain Country in the Middle
-Rock Lava Country to the East
-Black Water Country in West
-Ice Country in the North
-Sand Country in the South
Currently, Alex is in the Solar city in the Red Mountain Country which is in the middle of the continent. The whole country is surrounded by tall walls which are used as protection against monster attacks.
Monsters attack in hoards once in a while and all the awakeners are directed to defend against their assault.
Just as students are talking to each other, the front door opens and a bulky man standing more than 6 feet tall enters the class. He looked like a bodybuilder.
He is the Teacher of the class, Kolson Ragel. He was also from the Regal family notorious for their arrogant demeanor.
All families had their men holding the positions in the school as a Teacher, but the Headmaster of the school was from the Government itself.
That's the reason non-awakeners were free from all kinds of bad stuff like bullying by the awakeners.
Kolson Regal stands in front of the class and takes normal attendance. Nobody was absent from the class today, which was not surprising for him.
The reason was the Awakening Ceremony which was going to be held tomorrow morning. All the students wanted to register their names for the awakening ceremony and get more details from the teacher regarding any issues.
After taking the attendance, Kolson looks at the class with a solemn face and clears his throat,
''Ahem''
The whole class was paying attention to him, but Kolson wanted to get everyone's attention just in case to fulfill his role as a Teacher.
Feeling the prying eyes from the whole class, Kolson puffs his chest and looks around. After a moment of silence, he speaks again.
''Everyone here is already well informed about the awakening ceremony that only happens once every year. All 300 students will gather in the assembly hall and go through the Awakening one by one. The ceremony will start at 9 in the morning.''
''You guys are already aware of the ceremony procedure, but still, it will be explained tomorrow by the Principal himself. So I won't go through those details.''
After a short pause, he continues,
''Everyone will awaken one element in their whole life. Those with special bloodlines can awaken specific elements. Otherwise, the awakening process will be random.''
''It all depends on your luck, what kind of elements you guys will awaken during the ceremony. It could be tremendously powerful for battle or it could be supportive.''
After that, he explained the known elements according to his knowledge which were:
-Wind
-Fire
-Water
-Earth
These four were the most common elements one can awaken during the awakening. Most of the awakeners awaken from one of these elements and later develop them going through different changes.
After the normal elements come the:
-Lava
-Ice
-Mud
-Soil
-Tornado
-Wood
-Sand
Kolson explained only 7 abnormal elements or also called the Variants. There were a lot more elements, but he decided to explain only the most known.
After those variants were the special elements:
-Light
-Darkness
-Thunder
-Plant
-Poison
-Healing
Kolson explained six important or main elements which were in the category of being unique elements. There were some extreme elements such as:
-Space
-Time
These two were the strongest known elements to the humans and rarely someone was able to get that element during the awakening.
There were some other extreme variant elements such as:
-Gravity
-Metal
-Time acceleration
-Time delay
There had been fewer cases where one was able to get extreme variant elements. The whole class was in awe after hearing the number of elements that could be used in the battle. There were far more elements in the world.
Kolson kept on explaining the other elements and students didn't dare to interrupt him during the whole process.
