Chapter 24: City

They had been flying for several days, during which Li Yuemei learned more about this guy.

Despite his cold expression and lack of reaction, his personality was quite straightforward.

He was extremely honest, perhaps too much so, as if he would speak his mind without caring about what others thought.

Initially, she was afraid that he might do something to her, but after spending these days with him, she became less concerned.

Despite the double entendre in his statement, she realized it wasn't what she had initially thought.

She no longer felt embarrassed about being held that way; she saw that he wouldn't do anything more to her and carried her like that only because of what happened at the ice tree.

'This guy is getting on my nerves. How long does he plan to keep flying?'

"Hey, where exactly are we going now? We've been flying for almost a week," Li Yuemei asked.

"To the central continent," he replied without much concern.

"Huh? Do you know how long it would take to get there just flying? It would take months to cross the entire southern continent, and you'd still have to traverse the monster-filled ocean."

"It's extremely dangerous; not even Saints frequently cross the ocean. And you want to get there flying?" she asked incredulously.

"Yes."

Li Yuemei stopped talking when she realized she was getting angry again, and conversing with this guy would only make her more irritated.

After understanding his personality, she found herself getting frustrated every day with his carefree attitude.

Well, she was correct; at the moment, nothing mattered to him except going after the Tower of Dreams and finding the girl he considered his sister, who had never returned.

They flew and found nothing but forests and mountains.

Two days later, as they were passing through a mountain, a King realm bat beast suddenly appeared in front of them.

A strong pressure descended upon them, but his expression remained unchanged. Unlike him, Li Yuemei felt helpless under that pressure.

But she felt a cold breeze, and the pressure vanished.

'That strange aura again—what is it?' Li Yuemei wondered as she looked at the bat, wondering how he would deal with the beast.

Contrary to her expectations, he did nothing. He just kept flying, and as he approached the bat, the strange aura released from his body quickly spread.

The bat had no chance to react and was completely frozen. It then began to fall rapidly from the sky.

"Don't let its body fall and break; it will be useful. Stop the beast!" Li Yuemei shouted when she realized this could be a great opportunity for her. Given his straightforward nature, he would probably give her the beast's body.

She then saw the frozen body of the beast stop in midair and come in their direction. She was surprised and asked, "If you can make things float, why are you carrying me instead of just flying with me by your side?" She asked, slightly irritated.

"If you want to be frozen, I can fly you by my side," he replied.

"Oh, no, I'm fine being carried," she replied with a strange smile.

"Can you unfreeze the beast? I'll store it in my ring," she asked, showing the ring on her finger.

He just nodded, and all the ice on the body thawed and disappeared mysteriously.

She was still amazed by this power she didn't understand; it wasn't like how everyone used Qi to manipulate an element.

Then the beast's body disappeared in the air and appeared inside her ring.

She then looked at his face, and he was looking attentively at the ring on her hand.

"Oh, this is a spatial ring; it allows you to store various things. Have you never seen one of these?" she asked, somewhat incredulous.

"Hmm." He just nodded.

'So that's how Mom's things disappeared and appeared mysteriously,' he thought, still not understanding how so many things could fit into a small ring.

Then they continued flying.

She then decided to ask him a question.

"What exactly is this power you use? I've never seen or heard of any technique or ability like it."

Usually, cultivators use the Qi gathered in their dantian to manifest an element and then control it, and only those talented in a particular element can achieve this.

But this guy didn't use his own Qi; it was as if the ice Qi around him obeyed his commands.

He heard her question, but didn't understand why she was asking.

Then he remembered when he used the abyss of ice for the first time for something other than moving through it.

"I just think, and it happens. Ice is like a part of me; it's the only thing that's been with me since I existed…" he answered softly.

'Is it a unique physique ability? No, I feel like this isn't it.'

While she thought, he suddenly stopped and said, "What is that?"

She then looked at what he was pointing at and realized.

"A city!"
